And I love your fire hydramill.... i actually think its pretty great... not for xmas but for just a cool sculpture. :) And I LOVE that tree topper, I made something like that as a wall hanging once but never thought of a tree topper, thats fantastic... i think im gonna add some rhinestones to the spikes randomly for some sparkle :)
Pink Poodle Crafts Great idea! The tree topper is now a wall hanging in my guest bathroom. It's perfect :)
Oh nice! Thats a great idea for it! :) And for next xmas you wont have to dig it out of storage lol
you brought back a memory of my Mum making something like this with "art straws" in the 1970's x love from the UK
Thanks for watching!
Your "ugly" piece is so unique. As Is it would make a very decorative topper. I love it. I'm a "dare to be different" crafter.
Thanks for watching!
Your tutorials are always very detailed. Thank you for that! I also want to thank you for making the videos in the first place!
Wow! You really got into this craft. I can't believe how thorough you are when it comes to paper tubes. You made such a wide variety of things with them and did it quite well too. Thank you for your tutorials. I learned a lot.
I’m so glad, thanks for watching!
This paper tree took me back to grade school when we took the Reader's Digest, folded each page, spray painted them green and glued on glitter and mini Christmas balls. (major project for a 3rd grader) Everyone just LOVES your tree topper!, which I agree is most definitely year-round worthy, Shannon. For whatever reason it reminds me of "tramp art". Happy holidays!
My kids and I are on the hunt for fun paper crafting projects to make for our annual holiday bazaar and these are perfect!! Thanks for making me feel right at home with your fun and down to earth tutorials!
I'm so glad this was helpful for you!
OH my goodness. You just blow me way. I love the trees. And the Tree Topper is so amazing!! Your strings of beads are beautiful TFS
Linda Lapotka Thank you Linda! I appreciate you!
I enjoyed this video, and of course, your humor.
Thanks so much!
So cute ... and too funny! I giggled my way through most of you paper tube video's! My husband even ask me what I was laughing at and had to come look at the "sculpture", he got a kick out of it, too. Thanks for posting your projects.
Ha! Thanks for watching :)
These trees are gorgeous! You have so much patience, and this is a great tutorial. thank you for showing us and for sharing your real life. Germaine
+jerrygermaine fryc Thanks so much for watching, Germaine!

Oh that sounds wonderful!
Wow. Uber fab. I'm not worthy! You rock!
Kathy Buttermore LOL Thanks Kathy!
I love your video. The tress are great. Thanks for sharing. You are hoot. Going to give it a try. Love the paper beads as garlands.
So glad you enjoyed it!
I love watching your videos! I can't wait to start rolling some tubes to make a tree or two.
Go for it!
Your topper is gorgeous! I love it and the sprays. The woven trees are cool too. Can't wait until your next video. Hugs
DeNease Moore Thanks a bunch DeNease!
Very creative and clever! I so enjoy your videos; I grabbed an old magazine, pencil and glue stick and made about 90 tubes while watching. The second tree topper is wonderful and even the first fire hydrant-hybrid was interesting, a keeper too. Your sense of humor and friendly conversational style make you one of my top 3 craft artists to watch! Cheers!
Oh I'm so happy to hear that, Ann, and I sure do appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
I love this video, you are a very talented lady , your knowledge and humor make your video's very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing.

THank you Susan!
Although I love the trees, I'm so glad you showed the little ornament! I love that idea & timewise, it's much more doable.
+Melody Schwartz Glad you enjoyed it, thank for watching!
How fun! I just commented on another one of your videos with rolled paper! Will definitely try this Christmas tree. Thanks!
girlfromipanemauai Give it a whirl!
These Christmas trees are a great idea. Thank you for sharing.
+Marisa Acosta Thanks for watching!
Between you and Sonya G, I have gotten some great ideas on how to avoid cleaning house! I never look at paper as just paper anymore. I tore apart my very first boo k from the thrift store last week. The pages got used for paper beads and the spine will be used for another project. Kepp the ideas coming!
VA Purl How exciting! I hope it's the first of many fun projects for you!
very creative. thanks for sharing this
***** Thanks so much for watching!
The 2nd small tree you showed was easy to follow. Thanks.
I am going o try this one, and I have something that I hadn't gotten around to fixing, yet. It is a paper towel holder. this gave me the idea to make a tree for it and leave a hole for the end of the dowel to stick out the top. Take a plastic Christmas tree star topper and make a hole in the bottom of the star for the dowel to fit over. No need to glue the star in place if the dowel is long enough, so it will be easy to disassemble and pack up until the next Christmas.
Sounds like a great idea!
Sounds like a fun project I’m going to have to try this one thanks again
Thanks for watching!
love it great idea for xmas you could put them anywhere tfs
Really enjoyed this video and you. What a cool tree!
mary w Thank you Mary!
fabulous effect...............thanks
+Barb Kramer Thanks for watching!
That looks pretty cool!
***** Thanks!
LOVE your humor! You even use the same terminology I do! The "bra" almost caused me to spew coffee out of my nose! LOL! These are really neat looking. I don't know if I could do all of that work with my hands as I've all but had to give up embroidery because of the pain in my hands. Anything tedious like that would be rough. You did such a good job of explaining the technique, really in-depth. Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching!

I throughly enjoyed your video, you are a natural... HILARIOUS!! And I thought your toppers were both interesting, beautiful pieces. The second one I would leave as is or spray paint and put on my wall. The first reminds me of the beach.
Thank you for watching!

I did it your way and it came out great! thanks
So happy to hear that!!
I forgot to tell you your tree looks great and love the topper. It will look great on a wall somewhere.
Diana Hill Thanks so much Diana!
I really love the paper beads strings. The tree topper reminds me of those sunburst clocks that were so popular back when. Dramatic and zazzy! You have much patience, lady. Much. :)
soulcomfort1 My grandmother had one of those clocks and I had the same thought!
You are a lot like me, I have ADD and I need instant gratification and it can't be something that lasts or takes too long...I want it done and want it done now! lol But you did a really great job on this tutorial and I am definitely gonna try these come November :)
Pink Poodle Crafts Ha! And the repetitive overlapping and turning was actually sort of soothing. Something about it had a therapeutic effect.
yeah I know that feeling, I have a few... A FEW, long projects that I dont mind because they are for whatever reason, fun or relaxing to do.
You are so much fun. We could get in trouble crafting together.
But we'd have fun!
Your topper is adorable.
Thanks!
Happy christmas to all
Awesome video
thanks for the video and detailed explanations of papermaking
Thanks for watching!
Shannon this is such a great demo. I love the trees for Christmas. I did the book folding yesterday but found your tress today!
I can'twait to do these! Oh your tree topper is gorgeious !!!! The little shell topper would be gorgeious on a small shell tree I think. I like the sprays you did and you pay a LOT for thinks to stick out of your tree now. You are so funny and so down to earth. Why don't you live next door to me? LOL Do you have a bead video ....teach us!!!! ! Merry Christmas!!!
+Linda Allen LOL I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Linda, thanks for watching! I do have bead videos...if you go to my channel home page and put "paper bead" in the search bar they'll come up.
Shannon, retro and up cycling, recycling is so in right now. You should contact a publisher and produce an instructional book that includes all of your different tree decorations. It would be great.
Melissa in Maine That would be so cool! And take a lot of effort. Which I am morally opposed to. ;)
I really want to learn to do this but my meds work better in the morning so I will try it in the morning. You are awesome.
+Jonie Isenberg Give it a whirl!
+Jonie Isenberg lol join the club..::::::)
Jonie, I accidentally removed your comment about your grandbaby...trying to reply to comments first thing in the morning from my phone isn't a good idea..."reply" and "remove" look too much alike when I'm still half asleep and not wearing my glasses. I wanted to tell you how sorry I am, I just can't imagine how painful that must be. I feel very blessed to be able to help lift your spirits and I hope they continue to rise above your loss.
Wow thats strange how i commented on yours bc i lost my hubby not too long ago and since then been havin a hard time myself its coming up on anniversary and the holidays make it hard ..im sooo sorry for your loss i couldnt even begin to imagine what that must be like but i hope things do work out for you with a grand child in the near future again so sorry ...ya i feel ya on gettin up and getting going ..
Message above for jonie

Thanks for watching!
SMILE!
Love your sense of humor, Shannon. Had alot of fun. I made these trees last year. You forgot to mention the waist ache one may get after working a while... at least I got one lol.Sent you FB friend request. Going to check out your other videos. I am working on plastic bottle recycled projects right now... last year it was newspaper. I highly recommend plastic ornaments and flowers, I think you will enjoy. I have some really, really nice ones I can recommend if you'd like some really awesome Xmas projects. Just let me know. Just finished watching this video. haha nice art piece your first tree top turned out to be... interesting. Loved the new one!
+moniklds Those are some great idea, thanks so much for watching!
You make me laugh, as I live alone ( except for pets) I think my dog thinks I am going crazy when I start giggling. Little does she know I am already there. You didn`t say how addictive making those tubes can be, it is quite therapeutic.
Isn't it tho? I have a bucket full of them that I don't know if I'll ever use but I sure enjoyed making them!
You did a great job! Thank you for the video. You are so funny! Also love the star on your tree
+Pastor Miller Thanks so very much!
Adore the tree topper!! Don't think, ok I know I don't, have the patience ;) yay u !

Thanks for watching!
I enjoy your videos and usually think that I might like to do whatever I just watched (not that I do.) However, part way thru this, I decided that it was too much trouble, In fact P.I.T ass.l I still enjoyed watching your patience LOL! Lovely results! xx
elkeartsandcrafts Elaine Jones LOL Paper weaving does take a little bit of thought but once you get in the groove it goes fast and I find it enjoyable.
que ermosos
+Nora Castillo Thank you very much!

+Acurseddragon Thanks for watching!

Shannon, just a question: can you have at least one video, which would not be introduced into shock? Specifically on this video: 1) shocked me that you already have dressed spruce although I know that the US has already started the Christmas period; 2) shocked me the size of scissors on your desk; 3) shocked me that a product with a star on top of that you have shown in the 32 th minute of your video. Frankly, I liked it, but I realized it later, when I came out of shock. More later realized that this could be a star on the maypole tree. But, as it turned out you was not enough, and you kept me enter into shock: 4) I was pleasantly shocked by how beautiful you can decorate the tree with just one choux journal pages. BRAVO !!!
MR.VICTOR CRAFTER LOL You're cracking me up, Victor! From now on, instead of saying I'm going to "decorate the Christmas tree", I'll say I'm going to "dress the spruce"! I totally understand what you're saying, I'm just very entertained by how that translated! :)
Yes, Shannon, translation makes much to be desired.
But it can be entertaining! By the way, I'm so impressed with how your English is improving. On one of your recent videos you were speaking on your own instead of reading a translation and it sounded great!
In this video I'm just not used to me difficult English words.
When you 50/50 varnish do you let it dry completely before baking?
Diana Hill You should let it dry completely. Okay, sometimes I rush it a little but I shouldn't do that.
clever stuff. loving your tree. tree topper def awesome. with those sprays you did, have you tried having them upside down? just a thought. xx
Louisa Vevers I did. They looked upside down. ;)
hahahahaha... Thats ok, I would've wondered what they would have looked like upside down . Now I know :-) xxx
I have a quick question about baking your paper objects that have coating on them. Have you done it when they were painted first then the coating? I have ornaments that are painted and I want them more sturdy. I am not sure if I should bake them or not.
VA Purl Yes I have done it and they have turned out just fine. I think as long as your paint and your varnish are both water based, you should be fine. I wouldn't use diluted varnish on painted objects since they are already "sealed" so the varnish won't soak into the paper. But using it full strength then heating it should provide you with some added stability for your projects.
You have really explained well. But can you put the link about that lady you were talking about who made the same christmas tree. I am a fan of your channel. Thanks!!
Mariam Joseph I put the link under the video in the video description box. Sometimes you have to click where it says "show more" in order to see everything. This is the link to Sonia's channel...she's fantastic! ua-cam.com/users/Gustamonton
Thank you very much, Shannon!
i liked the first tree topper first. ummmm paints would have been so unique
Becky Shouldice
hi...any idea for making a christmas tree using a any recycled thing? about 4feet...? :) thank you
+anna allera Not off the top of my head but I bet you could find some great ideas on Pinterest.
Thank you so much...
Shannon did you base coat the spikes of the star burst?
Tammy Pluskett No, I left them au naturale. If I decide to hang it on a wall year round I will definitely varnish the whole thing.
hhhhmmmm a Madonna bra for Christmas lol love the tree TFS
Lisa Subzero Malterud Thanks for watching!
you are welcome : )
Can we make the paper tube longer?
Yep, longer paper = longer tubes.
on your ugly fail treetopper how did u make the star top part of it i really like it
+Tina J I glued together several of the cone-shaped ornaments that you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/4maIJjz3bvE/v-deo.html
Oh my goodness, I'm pretty sure we are soul sisters. You are hilarious!
If I really seal the trees well, do you think I could display them outside? (I'm in Utah, our winters can be harsh)
Honestly I don't know but considering what they're made from it would be worth a shot. If they don't survive you can always make new ones :)
nice 👑👑👑💄💄
Ugliest thing? It looks cool!
shinyeon23 ip
I could not see how you attached the rolls after they got too short.
+deltagirl82 You place one end of a new roll into the end of an existing roll..add a little glue first to secure it if necessary.
You are so funny and crazy, just like me. I love your art and your attempts at all things artsy. I will try anything if it might be art. I have requested your friendship on Facebook if you notice a crazy name on your page.
+Jonie Isenberg Thanks so much for watching Jonie!
:D I agree, they would have been knocking Shannon's door down, when everyone was going nuts for a Madonna's gold bra lol.
