    And I love your fire hydramill.... i actually think its pretty great... not for xmas but for just a cool sculpture. :) And I LOVE that tree topper, I made something like that as a wall hanging once but never thought of a tree topper, thats fantastic... i think im gonna add some rhinestones to the spikes randomly for some sparkle :)

    This paper tree took me back to grade school when we took the Reader's Digest, folded each page, spray painted them green and glued on glitter and mini Christmas balls. (major project for a 3rd grader) Everyone just LOVES your tree topper!, which I agree is most definitely year-round worthy, Shannon. For whatever reason it reminds me of "tramp art". Happy holidays!

    I am going o try this one, and I have something that I hadn't gotten around to fixing, yet. It is a paper towel holder. this gave me the idea to make a tree for it and leave a hole for the end of the dowel to stick out the top. Take a plastic Christmas tree star topper and make a hole in the bottom of the star for the dowel to fit over. No need to glue the star in place if the dowel is long enough, so it will be easy to disassemble and pack up until the next Christmas.

    LOVE your humor! You even use the same terminology I do! The "bra" almost caused me to spew coffee out of my nose! LOL! These are really neat looking. I don't know if I could do all of that work with my hands as I've all but had to give up embroidery because of the pain in my hands. Anything tedious like that would be rough. You did such a good job of explaining the technique, really in-depth. Thanks!

    Shannon, just a question: can you have at least one video, which would not be introduced into shock? Specifically on this video: 1) shocked me that you already have dressed spruce although I know that the US has already started the Christmas period; 2) shocked me the size of scissors on your desk; 3) shocked me that a product with a star on top of that you have shown in the 32 th minute of your video. Frankly, I liked it, but I realized it later, when I came out of shock. More later realized that this could be a star on the maypole tree. But, as it turned out you was not enough, and you kept me enter into shock: 4) I was pleasantly shocked by how beautiful you can decorate the tree with just one choux journal pages. BRAVO !!!

      Yes, Shannon, translation makes much to be desired.

      But it can be entertaining! By the way, I'm so impressed with how your English is improving. On one of your recent videos you were speaking on your own instead of reading a translation and it sounded great!

    When you 50/50 varnish do you let it dry completely before baking?

    • @ShannonGreen
      @ShannonGreen  9 років тому

      Diana Hill You should let it dry completely. Okay, sometimes I rush it a little but I shouldn't do that.

    I have a quick question about baking your paper objects that have coating on them. Have you done it when they were painted first then the coating? I have ornaments that are painted and I want them more sturdy. I am not sure if I should bake them or not.

    • @ShannonGreen
      @ShannonGreen  9 років тому

      VA Purl Yes I have done it and they have turned out just fine. I think as long as your paint and your varnish are both water based, you should be fine. I wouldn't use diluted varnish on painted objects since they are already "sealed" so the varnish won't soak into the paper. But using it full strength then heating it should provide you with some added stability for your projects.

    You have really explained well. But can you put the link about that lady you were talking about who made the same christmas tree. I am a fan of your channel. Thanks!!

      Mariam Joseph I put the link under the video in the video description box. Sometimes you have to click where it says "show more" in order to see everything. This is the link to Sonia's channel...she's fantastic! ua-cam.com/users/Gustamonton

    Shannon did you base coat the spikes of the star burst?

    • @ShannonGreen
      @ShannonGreen  9 років тому

      Tammy Pluskett No, I left them au naturale. If I decide to hang it on a wall year round I will definitely varnish the whole thing.

    If I really seal the trees well, do you think I could display them outside? (I'm in Utah, our winters can be harsh)

      @ShannonGreen  6 років тому

      Honestly I don't know but considering what they're made from it would be worth a shot. If they don't survive you can always make new ones :)

      +deltagirl82 You place one end of a new roll into the end of an existing roll..add a little glue first to secure it if necessary.
