I also worked at a gas station and thankfully here in Germany, it is normal to close the door from 10pm to 6am and only make people pay at the night counter, like it was a drive in. Sometimes, when more people came, I opened the door until they went. One day, there were 3 drunk, aggressive guys without money, (thankfully I didn't open the door) wanting alcohol and cigarettes and wanted to pay tomorrow (off course). They came 3 times. At 3am it started to snow, for the first time in years, so I opened the door at 4am and went outside into the snow, make some pictures.. then I heard footsteps.. and boy ou boy it was really close! I got back in without running and the door automatically closed just half a second before they came in. They thought I would let them in, so they didn't run, because I didn't run. Then they started kicking at the door, but it was high security glass so I was fine. I never opened the door again at a nightshift and I can't understand, why other people have to work with open doors alone at night.. It was our right to close the door whenever it was dark outside with only a few people, so theoretically at 8pm, but off course no one did it that early, it was to busy.
Story #2 excellent thinking. Right on your feet about them going to hit another location. That was wise considering the panic that usually consumes you during this type of awful shit. Very smart thinking all of it. Letting them do what they wanted and not resisting or fighting back. You’re alive and safe to tell the story.
I got to beefy dogs and laugh when people have a tiny dig that can't do anything besides alarm them in these stories (also if y ask their good girls one a chocholate lab and the others a doberman that we rescued)
Anywhere they do it is horrible, but especially when they rob people at home. Home is the last safe space we're supposed to be able to rely on. I used to be different, but now I feel like lethal force is acceptable and necessary if someone invades your home.
I just subscribed... love the stories and you got a great voice to tell them very relaxing.. thank you for these videos I've been binge watching all of them
Used be like that here in the UK. The petrol (gas) station owner would take the money they lost from fuel or store theft out of the employees pay. That was bad. Even worse though some of the employees would accuse paying motorists of stealing fuel, so that any shrinkage would be blamed on the innocent motorist not the station staff. This was in the 1990s, became a national story. So I always asked for a receipt and kept it when I bought anything from the station. These days there is a lot of internet connected CCTV so much harder to get falsely accused. I think gas station owners can no longer take any money out of their employees pay to cover store theft.
I live in NJ, USA. Back in the 80's, not far from where I lived at the time, there was a story in the local news about a gas station attendant was murdered while working alone at night. I didn't hear about it until a few days later. My father asked me if I knew a guy by the name of "John Doe". I didn't know HIM, but I knew his sister (we were friends when I was in high school). I think they passed a law stating that there has to be 2 people on duty at night at a gas station or convenience store not long after that...
Story 2 is the reason why workers like the ones at gas stations should not only be allowed but ENCOURAGED or even OBLIGATED to carry at least pepper spray on them, if not some more lethal weapon, for self defense.
Story 2 is why gas station attendants should never fight back in the case of a robbery. The first guy did it the right way; the second guy (unfortunately) got what was coming to him. The second dude is just lucky he isn't dead.
Items at the gas station are not worth getting injured or even killed. Even if the guy had a gun on him, the right move is to simply let them take what they want and call the cops like the guy did. If you're ever being robbed, whether it be while working at a store or just on the street, just give the people what they want. The only time you should fight back is if they try to take you with them and bring you to a second location as the chances of being killed go up dramatically in that scenario.
I’m Canada they have grants law have to work in pairs at night due to death of grant trying to stop someone from leaving with out paying for gas en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant%27s_Law
@@baum6721 We don't even know if the second guy fought or not. They didn't say what they got out of the guy. The first guy they robbed said the one guy wasn't happy about their take -- what if the next place they went to barely had anything either, so they attacked the person out of anger?
Most gas station businesses probably have or should have robbery/ incident insurance, to be covered just in case this event happens. The money and supplies aren’t worth employees getting hurt, or escalation and property damage

I totally understand how tried the college student was after the long trip of meeting up with his friends. He just wanted to go to bed because he was so tired. Shortly after returning home he felt that something was off with the heavy banging on his neighbor door to the heavy banging on his door. He knew that it was some kind of weapon that he was using. I'm not blaming him for the death of his neighbor but as soon as he got home tired or not. If he felt that something was off. He should have called the police right away. Maybe his neighbor could have been saved. Such a sad story
Just found your great channel. (Subscribed) :) I was thinking with story #2 it’s possible that the person in the second gas station didn’t have a lot of cash either and the robbers got pissed/frustrated and took it out on him.
Omg, that last story! I almost opened the door at 2am to a stranger, luckily my hubby stopped me. Better to be safe and never open that door at weird hours of the night. Lesson learned.
On Story one it honestly sounds like someone who just wanted a place to stay and probably saw that the home is vacant for a couple days if the target was somebody in the house why leave as soon as you hear somebody
I don't know what made youtube recommend your videos but I'm starting to feel like I should have some escape hatch in my house now, these stories are terrifying in general but the fact that most are random encounters makes it even worse

It is best to have the convenient store locked and have the customers be served through a small window during night shift. If they wanna grab some stuff, take the orders, have them pay it up and then u go grab the stuff for them, and thats it. That would be the sfaest
@@LadyAstarionAncunin i seen this method being implemented at petrol kiosks at Malaysia, Johore Bahru, where people aren't allowed into the store but instead they are to pay upfront on the petrol/pump they wanna use, and if they wanted to buy something, the cashier would pick it for them. Back in the early 90’s if you worked in the gas station and if someone stole something you had to pay for it yourself.
