    A remarkable fine instrument, combining the powerful and classic Precision Bass tone and punch, the comfort of the Jazz Bass, and some recent improvements and important technical additions. A unique bass guitar with the well-known Fender quality and the care and experience from Custom Shop professionals. A real masterpiece.

    Finally Fender, you turned up the bass track louder than the drums! Great job guys, sounds awesome, looks awesome too. Great color choices

    Good news.I purchased a second hand Precision bass made in Corona years ago.It
    sounded really good but the neck was too heavy comparate with my Standard Jazz
    bass.That was the main reason that makes me decide to sell the Fender Precision.
    Anyway,i´m proud to say i´m owner of the best bass in the world-Fender Jazz Bass.

    One not currently existent option (except in the custom shop line, o.c.) would be a best-seller for Fender : a Precision Bass with a Jazz Bass neck.
    There are J-Bass with PJ pickups, even a J Bass with a Precision neck (Mark Hoppus signature I think), but no passive P-Bass with a J neck...

    Fun game: take a shot every time he says "punch." I would love to have one of these basses.

    Awesome instrument! How about a sound demo with different tone control settings and playing techniques? With this great bass player doing the demo!

    i got a fender highway one (late model with bad ass bridge 2) and honestly the finish in that bass was somewhat very thin i bought it from a dude that sweats acid... yeah he completely messed up the nitro finnish for some, but for me i saw it as a relic, and ever since then it's been my best player ever, it might not have modern machine heads, or the stealth a string retainer, or the RSD Fender bridge, or the 1963 pickups, and even tough it doesnt have that, it is simply one of the best basses i've played for under $1,000 definitely a good buy from my part.
    Now i've been seeing a Dee dee ramone, and compared it to my highway one, and the dee dee ramone has more punch because of the maple neck, and also has a more growly tone to it, while the highway one has that tamed down low tone thanks to the grease bucket circuitry, thinking of buying a dee dee ramone :|

    You can an old American made Peavey Fury and have a P-bass with a crazy thin neck for next to nothing.

    They could have added a J bridge pickup and two concentric knobs to control each pickup, just like the old school jazz basses.

    Why not too a Postmodern Jazz Bass?!

    • @valentino99r
      @valentino99r 9 років тому +2

      icallyournames no, of course with a J neck but with the postmodern specs, like the contoured heel, tuners, bridge... There is a postmodern strat and a tele, why not a j and a p.
      sorry for bad english, Im from Germany.

    • @honestbrute9216
      @honestbrute9216 8 років тому

      valentino99r wouldn't you just call that a Custom classic..?..I mean,I know this bass is all passive, but the thing that makes it kinda unique is that it's a Custom Shop parts bass..a '50s P body, a '60s jazz neck, contoured heel first done in the 80s (possibly) tuners devolped in the '90s and and bridge from the new millennium...it truly is a bass with some of the best parts Fender had to offer over the years....it's not even called a Precision Bass, technically..it's called a Postmodern Bass..it's kind of an amalgam...if you did it with a Jazz bass, it would be very to what you could get in a Custom Classic...it's designed to be more P bass with performance upgrades that it didn't have before without it getting tricked out somehow..

    I've always wanted to find out what is that little ledge screwed in on the pickguard below the strings? What is it for and why is it sometimes on the opposite side of the strings?

    • @markusfol99
      @markusfol99 9 років тому

      I've heard that Leo Fender initially installed them to produce a more enhanced sound from the pickups, though this change is minimal. They are mostly used for looks and some people also like to rest their thumbs on them

    • @anotherhomeysan
      @anotherhomeysan 9 років тому +4

      "Grab bar". Leo envisioned hooking your fingers on it four leverage and using the thumb to play the strings. Like a thumb rest in reverse

      One of the most popular options for Fender Custom Shop basses is and has been for a long time having a Jazz neck with a Precision body.

    Vintage or Modern Style Schaller Gotoh Or Hipshot Tuners And Bridge .. A Lindy Fralin Vintage P pickup A CTS switchcraft Sprague cloth wired harness a fender 62 reissue tort Or a More Vintage Correct nice Aftermarket celluloid nitrate tort ... And you will have A Super Nice Bass For less the $1000 much less

    Great other than those totally horrible tuning pegs. Never do that Fender. Go old school looking ALL the way. The small machines on the back of the headstock look like crap. Real shame. Other than that visual disaster, it's a great bass.

    • @honestbrute9216
      @honestbrute9216 8 років тому

      Todd McCracken it's not about going "old school all the way " this time..they do that every year with whatever new '60s Jazz or Precision they bring out..this is more of taking different pieces and making a Custom Shop parts bass...these tuners are considerably better than the older designed tuners..I love the look of lollipop tuners, but it wasn't the best choice for this application...it's a pretty unique bass..and it kills..!!

    he says that contours were introduced in 1957! what about the 1954 p-bass?! in my company he'd be fired!
