I am actually considering to build one more, maybe even two for a cool and great sounding stereo setup with less volume than my current 50w heads that never gets up to the volume it should

Did you change the standby switch for a tube/diode rectifier switch?
Amp sounds great, I have been looking at this kit myself.
How usefull do you find the 4 way rotary selector?

I did not build it, bought it as it is (but I am considering to build one more for a cool small stereo setup)
The tone dial is useful when you change from single coils to humbuckers/P-90s but I think I would have prefered a standard bass/middle/treble tone control.
I do like the master tone cut, it's really useful for that final tone adjustment while playing

@@EnmandsBand1 I just finished building my ac18. I added a treble control and a 6 position rotary switch just like the brown note foxy 18, I also added a "fx return or poweramp input" so that I can use the amp as a poweramp base for my preamps.
I'd love to find out what was done with the ss/tube rectifier on yours. I know that tube town offerst a ss/tube rectifier mod for the px18.

Is this amp loud enough to play rehearsals with loud drumer? thanks

well, I use it in a Blues Trio hooked up to two Greenback cabinets (which are pretty efficient) with a G&L single coil Strat and I get asked to turn it down all the time!
But it really depends on your requirements because if you feed it with humbucker pickups it will start breaking up earlier and you can't expect it to be able play clean at high volumes. It has pre- and post volume which is great because you can find the breakup spot and get that great sag.

@@EnmandsBand1 thanks for reply, I use strat with singlecoils and I like clean and gain but always tight and focused sound. I actually had AC30 from 60's the real thing, but I never really played it cranked up because it was to loud, so I got feeling that this 18 watt could be just perfect for jam's, and for bigger audience I can always mice it up, we have PA.

Jim, are you happy with amp, any comments on the kit and build?

I can't comment on this particular kit since I haven't build it (yet), but I have build three other TT kits based on this their 18W chassis and I am very very pleased with them! Excellent quality components especially for the price and everything is included, from hardware mounting screws to the wire. You do need to know how the read schematics and layout. There is no step by step manual.

yes, still happy with it - I'm using it in my Blues Trio and it's great.
You just don't those warm sounds from a standard amp built with cheap China components

I've now built one as well, and love it. I'm just building a VOX top boost circuit to add to the amp.
