I’ve stuttered since I was five and always felt like I was trapped when I was little. When I started singing at age 11, I suddenly felt free. Many years later I fulfilled my wish of going to music school, even gave some speeches. Always proud of what I’ve overcome.
She has an amazing Dad! I can see how he was not trying not to cry! I saw how she looked at him, before she started to sing, as he gave her emotional support! Pure love! I cry everytime I hear that song! What a voice! What a songwriter! Love her!
I had a speech impediment when I was younger for about a yr. And I really struggled with it! This is awesome that she’s doing her talent! One of the best voices this season!!
Amanda may have never heard of Mell Tillis but he faced a similar difficulty. He stuttered badly until he started singing. He said that when he knew the words to the song he didn't have the problem he had speaking. He had a long career as an actor, composer, singer and a very funny comedian. Amanda, with her beautiful talent writing and singing could do well if that's her dream. What a beautiful voice.
Saw Simon's eyes open wider. Then looked at all the faces I saw they didn't think she would sing like this. We were quickly brought into the song. So good, would love to hear it again. Standing ovation says it all. Girl, you are awesome.
This audition was flawless! I love when the audience stays completely silent until the performance is over. She really captivated them 100%! Keep writing songs! Never give up!
Each time I hear a contestant is going to perform an original, I think "Oh God." And then they always pleasantly surprise me. There is so much talent out there.
I cry every time I watch this. I was silent up until I was around 30. Now at 55 I preach in churches and teach Sunday school and play upright bass in a band. God can take anyone's weakness and turn it into something beautiful!
I have a great deal of respect for this beautiful young lady! I am a retired speech pathologist, and stuttering was one of the most difficult problems to deal with because so much emotion and building up self-esteem were such a big part of treatment. It's true, singing was one of the methods I used, as well as choral reading. Congratulations Amanda! I (as well as everyone else) am so proud of you! Thank you for sharing your very touching song.
Are you from Hawaii? I live on Hawaii, and I e suffered with a stutter most of my life. Although mine isn’t the common repetitive one, mine is the block one. It’s been hard, no one here seems to understand, they all just think I’m slow or something.
@@montanawhite5699 Same here. I was put in a better school when I was in 5th grade. It was still 20 plus years until I was able to really kick my block, and it still shows up occasionally.
I used to studder. However, it did not manifest itself when I was singing. I asked my speech therapist about it and she said it was because you use different muscles when yiu sing.
I had to Google what "studder" was because I thought oh it's probably similar to stutter. And Google was like "a common misspelling of stutter" come to realise I'm just a moron that can't take from the context
i was a stutterer when young, and it took me reading books in private and listened to my voice to control it. now people say i talk to much! i take that as a compliment. Hats off to you Amanda.....

As someone who's a guitarist & has also struggled with a stutter that was very moving. The feel of the song, chord choices & melody is ultra expressive of the struggle within & the disrespect you feel from others who aren't treating you the way they would like to be treated. I have written similar sounding songs searching for an answer. She might not know yet but will come to learn its a blessing in disguise. Well done & enjoy the lessons.
As a singer who has appeared on America's Got Talent, she certainly has a lot of talent and deserves recognition for her hard work and dedication to her craft.
Only those with stuttering can understand the profound discomfort that this disorder causes. Amanda, with your determination and the lyrics of your beautiful song you managed to move me. I hope that your gesture will serve to motivate anyone with a language disorder not to be influenced by it but to find the strength to make their dreams come true.
The strength and control this beautiful human being uses to express herself is amazing. I’ve been in the presence of something similiar, and music tends to cover what speaking words cannot. It was beautiful. Keep going forward honey.❤️
What a beautiful voice... The words are lovely and meaningful. Please keep singing Amanda... you are an inspiration to many many people. Thank you. 💞💗💞
You are so sweet and kind thank you so much for choosing America’s got talent it’s so special to me to have such an amazing personality in my life you are so special to me you make everything so happy and full of joy and love to your beautiful smile and great energy you make the world better than ever
Thank you Amanda, for never giving up, for allowing your heart to nurture through the process. For me, in the darkness, death, abandonment, abuse, trauma, suicide, rejection, judgement, and despair I see you, and the inspiration you are, and I feel a warm hand of hope reaching out to me as if the future might hold things in it that could even make all the hell somehow worth it. I still can’t see it, but I do think you for your priceless whisper of hope… I notice you.
Absolutely amazing performance!!! The tears are rolling down my cheeks for her. They are tears of joy and triumph!!! Well done Amanda. You should be so proud of yourself.
as a parent I have to not only congratulate the singer but her father, her father gave her the love and strength to carry on, I hope the both of them are very happy and successful in what they do.
Beautiful.....there are some special people with original songs and beautiful voices with something real to say that need to be heard....Jane was one...Amanda is another....they go beyond what sells....they speak to what is real...they are truly special and we all need more special in our lives!
Wow, this young lady is an amazing young lady and so talented and so beautiful. Every time I watch her sing and speak it makes me tear up because she is so sweet and likeable. I hope she is doing very well today in 2024.
Bless her heart. I am happy for her success. Someone sent me this video because I too suffer from a speech impediment but and sing solos with my choir, but I do not stutter when I sing. I have not researched why, but I do know it has something to do with the rhythm of the melody, fast or slow, same as when I talk while I am walking. Music and the Grace of God is what keeps me going. I am praying and believing that one day my speech will become fluent and I will stutter no more.🙏🏾
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! We have to go inside and find our true selves, and then bring them out into the light and let them shine. You shine beautifully!
Courageous lady, beautiful song. The utter silence of the audience while she sang was as stunning as was the way they jumped to their feet in applause at the end. Wow.

I would like to say again that as a long time stutterer myself, it is really hard. It’s hard because stuttering is still that one disability that so many people think it’s okay to laugh at. Those that think that couldn’t be more wrong. As it is wrong and immoral to make fun of any person with a disability. I applaud this young lady. I applaud her for going out there and having the courage to tell her story. God bless you ❤️

This brings tear to my eyes everytime i see and hear it. As a child i stuttered to bad i wouldnt talk to anybody. People would ask me my name and I could get the fucking words out. This makes me cry so much because it a way I can relate to her. Even though I don’t have the same life problems as her I do have ADHD, Axniety, and Depression. I have a slight speech impediment as well and I can’t pronounce certain letters in words and I get made fun of for it. Her voice brings tears to my eyes.
