Autumn did a super job with the wood splitter. That machine has a lot of nice built in features. Again, wonderful job Autumn. I know Doug is honored to have his best friend by his side.

Great video Doug and Autumn. The 28C is a great splitter… I own one! My Eastonmade 22-28 with box wedge has spoiled me with the pull back arm on the box wedge! Two great companies with great products and service.

Nice play on words! Love a good dad joke. Doesn't it make you cry a little on the inside when you split black walnut? Ha. Autumn works harder than your neighbor...😅

Hi Doug. I agree with others who are cautioning about hand placement anywhere near the wedges, piston or the round being split.
About 30 years ago, a neighbour and his buddies organized a splitting bee. I don't know how it happened, but one man had an accident, and his hand was sheared off by the splitter. Be careful with these machines.
I know it is difficult to tell your wife what to do, but eye and ear protection are very important. Injries can happen in the blink of an eye. I know several people who worked around equipment. As they aged, their ability to hear was greatly impaired.

My father taught me at an very young age, safer to split wood with smaller end facing splitting device & much faster if using axe/sledge & wedges or maul. With a splitter i found this to be much safer for operator & minute damage to splitter.

We put a 1 1/2" pipe on a splitting maul (18 LB) to split all of our firewood. That was back when I was 32 yr old. Later on I built a outside boiler that took 3' logs that didn't take splitting, that was after the boys went into the Army...

Splitting wood is definitely good exercise even if you're using a hydraulic splitter. I'm hoping she will reconsider on the safety gear when using a splitter. If she doesn't listen to you, hearing protection isn't going to help. Lol

One could build a 18’ wide 12’ tall kiln along the top edge above the double wide doors 8’ wing span per door 16’ total width of exterior door opening add a solar/wind powered fans along the top edge every 2’ for a total of 9 intake fans run a full board width starting from the top ceiling dropping down 3’ from top at a angle to middle of stack height of wood. Add three dehumidifiers one on each outer edge and one hung dead center all running of solar/wind battery are deep cycle. Glass the outer windows with wide panels double glass. A top of the out side metal panel or highly stained wood panel extending four feet off the top back side with putter and side drip edges. To keep top fans dry in wet weather. Painted or stained dark. In the lower doors add four high Volume fans two to each door pointed outward for rapid venting. The water from the dehumidifiers could be collected in exterior rain barrels with added oxygen stone for each to keep the water fresh. For yards or gardens. The interior and exterior walls will be insulated with Rock Wool or insulation of choice. Stained dark or painted dark. Build a platform at base for easy forklift, tractor, bob cat loading. Have a certified electrician help with the battery and wind/solar components. Enjoy quickly solar kilned wood for years to come. The floor should be off the ground by 2 feet with sand and gravel base and stained or the bottom treated wood. I could source the whole thing but a contractor with experience could tell the cost of this beast better than me. Hello let me know if this is feasible??

She was killing me by handling the the log from the end. I noticed that you were instinctively handling the logs in the middle. Granted, she had to move her hands to work the levers, but you can never have an accident if your hands are never in the danger zone.

I’m late to the Party Doug, this Wolf Ridge looks like a good Low to Medium volume wood splitter suited to a one or two Person or Family piece of Equipment that you can plant the seeds for memories, similar to what Autumn had with her Dad. Like you alluded too, Full totes of Split Wood is not the only Beneficial Product of time well spent. There is more one way to exercise in good old out doors. 😀👍🪵👍🪵👍🪵
