This was a really great start to the TDC! Exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for: novel, educational and delicious 👍 I've been drinking both teas semi-regularly since they arrived and am enjoying appreciating their similarities and differences.
Very interesting! I've tried many Ripes but I've always gravitated more to other hei cha. I like Ripes but I find they can be a bit one dimensional in taste, whereas hei cha chan have more layered flavours. Often though, at least one of those flavours will not be 'good' - but occasionally you get a unicorn one and it's sublime! I didn't get a chance to join the tea club, but if you have excess tea once you make all of the club shipments - it could be fun to sell it via your Newsletter or something :)
That's true, some ripe pu'erhs can be one dimensional, but the same can be said for all tea types. There's good and bad examples of every tea type. We'll see how much of this tea we have left, we may have some to release later on. Otherwise, keep an eye out in Q1 2024 as we plan on opening sign ups to the tea club again then.
Not at the moment but at some stage, we may make the Fermented Oolong and other past issues available on our website for a limited time. We're not currently accepting membership into the TDC but you can join our mailing list via our website www.teaangle.com to be notified on when we'll open up membership intake again
Hei cha and wulong are my two favorite tea types so a mashup of the two is fascinating. Wish I could try some.
It was an interesting tea for sure. Definitely a hei cha but with slightly sweeter notes that would be from the Oolong tea leaves

Nice, glad to hear you're enjoying the teas. Hope the rest of the TDC boxes that we have planned live up to expectations
