You can get new Luffy sitting cross legged, the legs plug into the shorts with a ball joint so it can swivel. It does mean the knees dont line up with the coutouts but it still works and looks fine.

the old Luffy figuarts was one of my first figures, way back in the day. I've wanted an updated figure for years, and been disappointed when they kept making post-timeskip ones. It's weird how the new one has better arms, but worse legs? And personally I prefer the open-vest look, but in general the new one has better aesthetics. Still love the old one, though. my dream would be if they made an Enies Lobby version using this new mold, and fixed the legs!

The thing about it is the old gum gum piece isn't accurate. He never really increased limb size until Gear 3(admittingly it's still a fun piece). And as far as articulation goes I don't really mind if a figure can't sit, all mine are in some sort of standing or fighting pose. Sorry to say it, but that old one is out classed easily.
