    Minute 18:13 That's not a cruise ship. That is Yuan Wang 6 - a satellite tracking ship.
    Greetings from Moorea 🌴 🏖 😎 🇵🇫 🇫🇷 🇪🇺

      @RedSeas  6 місяців тому

      Cool. So what does it do exactly? It’s massive! Is it surveillance of satellites or something? Was quite impressive to see.

    • @monikaliebold4225
      @monikaliebold4225 6 місяців тому

      The main mission of Yuan Wang fleet is to track and telemetry various medium and long-range missiles, satellites and spacecraft, accurately determine their landing points, and recover warhead cones, satellite instrument data cabins and spacecraft cockpits.

    Real joy is finding adventure in everything you do, which is why you two are so successful. It may be a treacherous ocean pass, a cracked tooth, or a simple cover; you will still find the joy and beauty in the simplest of moments and take your precious time to share it with us. It’s such a treat sailing with you each week, you have no idea the encouragement each episode provides.

    Genius solution for covering your fuel cans, I am going to modify our covers to have the handle cover flap like yours. Teeth are sorted, let the adventures resume!

      Think you made Brioni’s day paying compliments like that about the covers. They are a really cool addition and hopefully means our cans will last a bit longer in the harsh sun

    Finding a dentist was an adventure within the adventure 😂Glad y'all were able to make it happen and it was not that big of a deal, tooth pain can be the worst! Also awesome job on those jerry can covers, definitely making us want to get a sewing machine! They look so good and the handle flap was seriously impressive! Can't wait to get to see the scuba diving when you make it to Fakarava!

      Think you made Brioni’s day with that compliment about the tank covers. They are fantastic. Just need a few more. Now that the teeth are all back in order, we can’t wait to make some bubbles!!! 🫧

    CLOVE OIL (contains eugenol an anesthetic & antibacterial agent)
    I have had a lot of teeth issues due to grinding and doing stupid things.
    Clove oil or even just chewing on a dry clove.
    I have had tooth pain so bad I can’t sleep and get a bit of clove oil on your finger or a cotton bud and get it on that tooth. It will find the crack and numb the nerve and stop the pain.
    Worth keeping in your first aid kit.
    It’s what they used before dentists.
    It will calm it right down even for a month or so if used regularly and you stop eating on it.

    Get an Emergency Dental repair kit for the First aid kit helps in this kind of situations. ( or use the Scottish method Plenty of whiskey and a pair of pliers) Brioni will not feel anything

      As it happens we carry a few of those handy little kits for this very reason. We are lucky enough that one of our patrons is a dentist so we took their advice on what course Off action we should take. So pleased we did.

    How come you guys never ware life jackets, at least I don't ever remeber seening either of you with one on!

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  7 місяців тому +1

      It’s a fair question. It’s true, we don’t often have life jackets on when you see us sailing during the day. This is in part because Indioko actually has quite a large cockpit and we are usually safe within it. When we go forward to reef at the mast etc, we usually take turns so that one of us can maintain helm and keep an eye on the other. On night passages however, this is quite different. We have rule that no one leaves the cockpit in the dark without waking the other to keep watch and we wear life jackets and clip a life line on when going forward. They are the inflatable type so can be hard to spot but we are pretty good at sticking to this rule.

    I know it's difficult on the ocean, but be very conscious of your vitamin A intake. Many seafoods are high in vitamin A, you seem to eat a lot of dairy-(ice cream), pizza-(dairy, tomatoes, pork), carrots and things that are also really high in vitamin A/retinoic acid. This will eat and weaken your teeth and bones *plus* it causes sunburn as it's broken down in the skin by UVA into the most toxic retinoic acid forms. My mom who is a 73 year old red head, has been doing a low vitamin A diet for several years and can stay outside all day now without burning. The diet is loosely based upon the muscle meat carnivore diet with soluble fiber added basically and many carnivores will tell you they no longer sun burn either. The carnivores claim lack of sun burn on eliminating seed oils, (polyunsaturated fats break down into toxic aldehydes) but seed oils also concentrate carotenoids/vit A as well. A basic low vit A diet and what I follow is meat (preferably no pork), rice, white potatoes, apples, bananas, oatmeal/barley/quinoa, sourdough/organic bread, egg whites, "white" corn, basically fruits/veggies with white insides/low carotenoids. If you want to research it more look up "Nutrition Detective" on youtube. He has 2-4 hours livestreams every week. I have been low vit A for 5 years at 48 and best health of my life. It's great that you don't drink as that helps because other toxins go through the same ALDH (aldehyde dehydrogenase) detox cycle-alcohol-acetaldehyde, retinol/vit A-retinaldehyde, polyunsaturated fats-malondialdehyde(causes hair loss).

      I forgot to mention beans are also a staple food for low vit A and soluble fiber. Rice and beans have sustained civilizations since forever.

      I think we should clarify, we talk about dairy so much as we rarely ever get to enjoy it. Icecream can cost $80 for a tub here and milk is all UHT or powdered. So it’s really just the longing for a treat that you are having to put up with every so often. 😂
      We do our best to keep a good diet but living on the water and so far from any provisions, we do have to compromise sometimes. Still, plenty of fish and vitamin D for us 😃 ☀️ ⛵️

    • @weldonwillifordrealtor
      @weldonwillifordrealtor 4 місяці тому

      @@RedSeas That's great. Sun does help break it all down albeit with the sunburn side effect lol. Through our research we believe scurvy for sailors was basically just vitamin A toxicity for example (vitamin C just slows the detox process to avoid damage). Of course, most sailors drank beer on board since they didn't have water makers back then and that contributed to the problems as I listed in my first comment about aldehydes. I know Bri is always worried about fresh vegetables but it's really not that important for health and can actually be detrimental as the carotenoids (brightly colored ones) add more vit A load to your already heavy vit A seafood intake. Eat your seafood with plenty of soluble fiber of some kind to help absorb the excess retinol from the fish, some oysters for zinc and you should be golden. I've been enjoying your series from the beginning the past few weeks. Looks like I will have them all caught up by the weekend!

      Funny enough, we have heard of a few. Usually they are focused on cruising to remote communities to offer medical treatment to those who may never get it otherwise. Dentists, doctors, nurses and vets are all incredibly valuable to these remote communities.
