My Works from "Art Academy: Second Semester"

- The second installment in my series of slide shows featuring my works from the "Art Academy" series for the Nintendo DSi. Featured here are the lessons as well as some free paints.
Music is "Zelda's Lullaby" from the "Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" original soundtrack.

I think Art Academy has been my favourite thing to come out on the DSi. I have both semesters, I loved them. I'm a professional artist, went to art school, knew everything before-hand, but it was still heaps of fun to play.
Thank you! When you are satisfied with you work & you save it, it saves to your photo album, in your camera app. You can transfer any Art Academy work, along with any photo in your album, to your external memory card. You can then put your memory card into your favorite card reader plugged into a USB port and copy your pictures to your computer. Good luck!

@lykomgitsalice You should have the blue F Facebook icon in the middle of the screen right above the picture in the photo album app. If you don't, you're due for a firmware update. You can probably take care of that by going to the control panel utility where you can control the brightness, change the date/time, etc.
@kiekoes One of two ways: 1) Use a wi-fi connection to upload your works that dump into your camera app's photo album to your Facebook page, or 2) go into your camera app and transfer your works from your photo album to your SD card, then transfer your files from the SD card in your DSi to your computer.

@Pyr0Assassin When you finish the drawing and save it, it automatically dumps into your photo album. Then you can close the Art Academy game, open your camera app, go into your photo album, and upload it to Facebook from there (provided you went into your system settings under system update and downloaded the latest firmware update to get the button for Facebook in your photo album).
I found out how to do it. If the picture you're about to take is one you want to have show up on your DSi's main menu, don't take the picture from the camera app, just hit the L or R button on your DSi from the main menu which brings up your camera function. Take the picture, and either chose Retake or Save. Once you save, that picture will automatically have a star sticker on it and will show up on your DSi's main menu. Hope that helps.
I know, that UNO game looks pretty fun! It costs 800 Nintendo points, and I have only 500 left. I got that Ball Catcher game that just came out, too. Addictive!
Thank you, Dallas! Good hearing from you! It's been a while. I'm lovin' the "Art Academy" series. Each one, Semesters 1 & 2, was 800 Nintendo Points, or $8, and worth every penny. It teaches concepts that can be applied to real-life situations.
Which ones do you mean? Like, Pikachu and the Japanamation-style eye? I just take a pic with the DSi, import that into the Art Academy app, use the grid tool, the zoom tool... basically, I treat the pic like any other. Thanks for stopping by!

The Berkeley Springs Castle would be a good scene to try to capture! Or the Panorama.
I forgot to mention, if you have the latest firmware update on your DSi that allows you to instantly upload your photos directly from your photo album to your Facebook account using a wi-fi connection, you can upload your photos that way, then go back in and save the photos from there to your hard drive. Either way works.

@ZacVrono The 1st & 2nd semester pictures were all done within less than 3 months of each other. You have to understand, with the 1st semester, they have to start you out slow and teach you the basic concepts and work up from there, building upon each one as you go. I was just completing the lessons as they were taught. So, the WTF was not necessary at all, but... thank you.

I've just been so busy with college work and preparing to manage a group of AmeriCorps volunteers this summer, and attending prep seminars for the summer program, to create enough new works to create a 3rd video. Maybe after August when things slow down for a couple weeks. Thanks again!

Great drawings, and nice that you were watching Henry Rollins there (1:49)! I was just watching that show an hour ago. I'm thinking of buying this game myself soon, but I am not quite sure how well I will able to draw on the DS phat screen.
@Pyr0Assassin Yes, I have (had, now that I upgraded to a 3DS--patiently awaiting the big system update coming sometime this month) the DSiWare version.

@MAMsMom97 You know, the normal DS also has a touch screen -.- DS = Dual Screen. You can either buy a game in a regular store that works an all DS systems, but on the Normal DS and the Lite, you have to draw the pictures they give you, as it has no camera. However, if you have 16 dollars and a credit card, you can go on DSiWare and buy 1st and 2nd smester separately on your DSi/XL, $8 per semester. Hope this helps :D
It does, doesn't it? Actually, this was actually a lesson that was on the "Art Academy 2S" app. I reckon any similarities were purely unintentional. LOL!

Maybe not. The November 22 picture looks like the scenery along SR 641 between Carlisle and Spring Run. Perhaps the Art Academy is getting its lesson paintings from central PA.

@JoshyBoy98311 Well, the only explanation I have for why the Second Semester drawings were better is because the pictures were better, more of a challenge. I definitely recommend very highly these games for anyone, regardless of what level they are with their artistic ability.
@Korpi21 This was done on a DSi. I use the zoom tool a lot to get fine details.

@CyberHibrid I uploaded them directly to my Facebook from my photo album, where the pictures dump into after you save them.
@magmaman498 Transfer your works from system memory to the SD card. Then remove your SD card from the DSi and insert it into your computer's SD drive or use a card reader plugged into a USB port, and transfer the files over.

@IgorPcar yes i can. i just have to buy the game from the store, and it just comes with more range of lessons then the downloaded version on the dsi

did you know art academy is coming out for the ds as a seperate game with all new feutures and if you have a dsi you can put them in the camra channel

@990joelle From what I understand, there was an Art Academy title released as a DS game, not here in America but abroad, but I can't imagine how it works without the touch screen. Can anyone help?

I was thinking of getting this because I LOVE drawing and I want to get better and better, and I ask you, would this be a good game for anime/manga drawings? I see most are realistic but I am very into anime. Thank you and your art is very beautiful!
i KNOW its late, but I recently got the app and I am an anime/manga artist. No, it doesn't help with that. This solely based on realism, but one day I would like to incorporate a semi realistic art style and think practicing painting techniques will be the right way to go. I have a love for colour and despise lineart :P

It won't improve your linework or finesse initially, however it will give you a better understanding of art theory, and the apllication of it.
How did you get these on your computer?
You said you uploaded them to facebook, but i can't find any option to upload it to facebook directly from the game or send it to my album to do it from there. I'm on the dsi.
