- So you want a CAW army that starts strong without having to play through an entire game to get them? Here's how you do it. You see, when a man and a woman loves each other, they marry and then...they produce a horribly generated child that carries over their parent's title (Way of life) and become a powerful general with strong starting level, stats, and tactics. They are then able to be saved after you finish one game with them. You can then copy that character and make completely new CAW using them as a base, retaining that special title! All the game does with your children at the end of the game is just save a new CAW with a title and some tactics based on your gameplay. You can change everything else including name, appearance, moveset and even replace your generic officers.
My opinion: The whole family system in this game is pretty barren. It has absolutely GREAT potential, but for some reason 3 non-cutscene events and a weird generator is all there is to family in this game. Children and parents do not have unique interactions in battle or have any other special effects.
I also learned something else incredible this playthrough. It seems that those who inherit/attain Lu Bu's title will have his theme song play when encountered, like Diao Zhi in this guide.
Trivia: The child featured in this guide, 貂芷 (The 2nd character is unavailable in this game so I made do) is from Fantasia Sango (幻想三国志) a fantasy RPG made in the early 2000s. Though it's quite old I do recommend trying it sometimes if you like RPGs.

Sorry for all the goofy question but I have another one... I know they just had a update on characters weapons are the old ones still available for character creation? And is there any other weapons than generic and the unique characters that can be used in character creation?

I do remember, in one instance, I had two halfway decent parents that turned out with an absolutely beautiful daughter.
Then I married her.
I'm dying to see Dong Zhuo and some random girl together to see what kind of monster it may create.
I've had Dong Zhuo marry Lianshi, and the daughter looked surprisingly well. I also had a butt-ugly CAW paired with another, also came out looking good. But with 0 atk.

matthew doyle Yyyyeaaahh... But thankfully the stat resets after one playthrough. Pairing CAW characters tend to do that often. I've also had a child with 0 HP but with 1000+ defense. The RNG is really funny in this game.

I have the North American Version, and two of my custom characters had a son. And....OH MY GOD. He wore the male's body armor, with the female's bracelet's, bottom's colored like hers, and hair clip. He also used her weapons,motions, and specials. He kicked major butt though, with an attack of 811. After the Empire Mode ended it let me save him and I made him look more masculine, did half and half on the armor color, and half and half on the specials.
You can change the gender of your child. After the wedding scene do a quick save BEFORE the " you and whoever are living in marital bliss scene"( the 1st scene were you and your spouse is talking) rest until the child is born( roughly 9 months). You'll get the notice than you have a boy or girl. If you are dissatisfied with the gender, end the game. Rest until the child is born. It may take a few tries but it works.
You can also change appearance. I found by accident. I saved just before my child appeared. The game crashed and I continued a quick save. When the child appear this time, it's appearance was different and better. I think it takes 3 years for him to appear after birth so save around the 2 yrs 6 mths. If you're unsatisfied. Restart from save point.

Think about it this way, normal pregnancy takes 9 months. Then it takes about 16-18 years for a child to actually grow into an adult in reality. But *here*, they're fully grown in just a little over 2 years! Seriously, what the hell? XD

I had my CaW marry Yue Jin and their child had 2 different color eyes one color from the mother my caw and the other from the father Yue Jin this was during the time I was getting DiaoChan, Diao Qiao and Xiao Qiao's title

Not necessarily DW logic but the logic of ancient Chinese warriors. They're child can go into battle at teenage years preferably around 16-17. Most warriors in DW like Zhu Ran or the Qiaos were teenagers when they battled. And Lu Bu daughter, Lu Linqxi
Problem is...I think it is..Havent tried it but i think it will be.
You know you can only edit the son character once game has been finishes, so you cant really enjoy the game with a son created by you.You cant have a son with you anymore cause it will be stranger to each other if you play in another era.
I don't see an option to change the way of life in the Voice/ability section. I had beat the game once, do i have to play more to unlock this way of life thingy? Which version are you playing on?
No cutscene for when the child is born, huh? I don't think it would be that hard to, say, have the mother holding her newborn or something. Perhaps with the father standing beside her, and they both speak a line or two about becoming parents.
Then again, put in a cutscene and someone will inevitably think it'll be funny to upload a video of Xiaoqiao having Huang Zhong's kid. So maybe no cutscene is for the best.

I agree with this game being a bit lacking in comparison to it's counter parts. There is literally only ONE ENDING. If you're really good, or really bad, the ending is always the same. It makes zero difference. The only difference I noticed is that people will leave your empire (if you're the ruler) and you're really bad. Other than that it makes no difference. A quick way to blaze through the game is by starting your own empire and keep stealing from the people, build all the facilities you want (I mostly do weapon shops so I can get Level 6 weapons which makes killing officers super easy regardless of how strong you or they are) and just do that until you unify the land. Like I aforementioned, you still get the same ending as if you had played a goodie-goodie. You may get different titles, but they don't change your stats at all, so...again...no point.

Empires is the only DW game I'll play anymore. The other games are just a rehash. At least with empires, you have customization and follower options.
I can agree with that, I am sick and tired of the same story over and over again. Was really glad for Lu Bu's story mode for XL. But I think Empires is the best for a customizable story kinda thing

Question though.....In the description you mentioned everybody who inherit Lu Bu's title will have his theme when encountered. Are there other characters who have encounter songs or just Lu Bu? Also about the theme song does it play when you play as someone else and encounter that character or can it play at other times?
Jazzy 42 Only Lu Bu has the title and theme song by default, later CAW can obtain it if they reach his title or inherit it from him. The theme song only plays if you fight against the title bearer, it doesn't have any effect if they are your allies.
Really wished they would just combine the normal DW games and Empires into one so we can get a custom game mode along with a story/musou mode. DW4 did this just fine idk why they choose to separate the two but I guess it might be too big of a game if that was a case.

I dunno why, but every time my CAW had a kid with Lu Lingqi is always a boy (with anime protag attributes as well for some reasons) while on other girls its always a female
I got an update 1.03 today. It said you can change outfits on edit characters during supremacy mode. I can't seem to find it on any in game menu. Any ideas?

just gonna say this I noticed you said there is no special dialogue but there actually is all the main playable characters have special dialogue in battles for their children.

I'm trying to get the "Heroic Unifier" way of life (have 99,999+ troops and 15 territories under your control).
However, I keep getting the "General of the Land" way of life (have 15 territories under your control and don't lose a single territory for 2 years).
Is there a glitch occurring or am I doing something wrong?

I find this game so confusing I take it I need to take over every piece of land to move onto the next set of level which woukd be the hao lo gate? And i don't even no how to visit my child and i had one ages ago? Any help would be massively appreciated
If you have 60 officers in your kingdom ( Full ) you will not see your child until you unified china.
If you pick a character and play musou mode, it follows the story, so don't you expect the character to age? Besides blood and gore there are other ways for the game to be realistic. Wasn't Guan Yu fighting the Yellow Turbans and over 20 years later his last battle was at Fan Castle?
Dynasty Warriors is based on a Chinese Ancient history when several kingdoms would try and conquer China. Guan Yu is apart of that story line. When you choose a scenario in DW8 Some scenarios he's not in (coup d' tat and others) cause their time has passed. And it's really just a game, doesn't have to be realistic or run on Unreal engine since everything that happens like magic and flaming sword and jumping from 20 feet in the air and not breaking a bone. Just makes it an ordinary DW game
it looks like i can't play Dynasty Warriors 8 nor Empire yet same with the other ones.. not until I finish Dynasty Warriors 4 complete and have everything I need when its done..
It doesn't look like you can change the child's gender after saving the child as a CaW character. But I can't read the text so I wanted to ask here for confirmation, can you change the child's gender after finishing a playthrough?
Oh and also, do children sibling characters retain their whole sibling status? So then you can't marry a brother or sister character through a playthrough? Same with parents, does the game prohibit a child character from marrying his/her parent character?
Would you recommend this game to someone who hasn't played a dynasty warriors game before? I've seen a lot on it and I think it looks pretty enjoyable(I've play hyrule warriors before but I doubt that comes close to counting).
Sai1523 Eh its close enough to counting, I think that Empires is a pretty fun series and for the longest time I have just played only empires and avoided the main series because i was bored with the old story and linear gameplay. The freedom enjoyed in Empires is definitely worthwhile. I think 7 is the better game, but 8 isn't too bad either

I recently got done a campaign for the first time and I like using my one created character. If i replace him with the newer version of him does that mean his children from the last game are no longer considered his children? Also I accidentally overrode the character at one point but managed to get him back by reloading and beating the campaign again does that mean the child from that playthrough is no longer his?
Treize Khushrenada Parental relationship doesn't carry over after a game anyways, this means the child can marry their parents as if they were strangers.
Lu Bu Feng Xian Alright that's kind of disappointing but hey at least I got a pretty badass CAW out of it. Basically a male version of Zhurong with armor. And thanks for answering the question boss.
First of all, thanks for your video, very nice a helpful. The new idea of having a child in my opinion is remarkable, I have the ps3 american version of this game, here are a couple things i would like to share:
1) I have played the marriage with 3 caw's of mine, on my case, it only took rank A interaction for my 3 caw's characters with their partners to see the love confession, have never seen Rank S.
2) Seems that the child's gender is randomly given by the game, at the beginning i thought, the playable character's gender had to do something with this but, it doesn't, on my first play, i used a female caw and i got a son. On my second one, i used a male caw and got a daughter and on my third one, i used another female caw and i also got a daughter. A pity, the game doesn't allow to choose the child's gender.
3) Just the son i got with my female character's caw on my first play was ugly, which didn't bother me because i fixed him in character's creation mode after finishing the game. The 2 daughters, are very beautiful and look like their mothers somehow, without mentioning the nice outfit, the game selected for them.
On a final note, i have a question if you don't mind answering it:
How did you select the scenery to accelerate the years and see your child on the video?. I did receive news from the soldier, about the new born child and also saw the scene when the child shows up, but, while playing the game normally.
Its sad that their stats dont really change too much. The Way of Life only determines their starting level and how much they cost to recruit them.
Earlier she had 142 movement meaning that she DID take Lu Bu's stats during that game but when she became a CAW. It was overridden by the CAW presets. So she is actually allot weaker than most generals.
Say you chosen Balanced and you go to FreeMode Events with a level 99. The CAW/Child will not have the same stats as Lu Bu.
It would have been Nice to have been able to keep the stats though. I know this video was old but I just wanted to rant a bit because I was looking to go this route with mating OP characters. Im devastated T_T

Playing as a male character, ive had a son and a daughter (on separate scenarios)
I played my male and female characters twice each... had four daughters in a row :yaoming:
So you can only change your child's look and what not after the game is finished? If I remember correctly on DW7 empires you could only change their clothing. Why does the generic system gotta be so bad on the faces...x-x?
aznfantasy09 lol yah I'd like to know too. Well they aren't always bad, like Yuan Ji who ended up looking like Lu Lingqi. I feel that they should generate, but allow you to modify them in the same game. It would kinda kill the whole realism thing, but then again, having a child that looks like they belong to aliens rather than your character kills it too.

I have a question about the gender of the child. Is it possible to get a daughter when you got a son and vice versa? Like that you save the game just before the child is born and after you didn't get the one you wanted you can reload the game?

That's not what I meant, because I assumed you cannot edit the gender after the game. I mean you save just before your child is born, then when you get not the one you wanted can you reload and get a child of the opposite sex?
And one more thing, you mentioned "your partner confesses to you". Does it mean that when I start the game, find myself the person I want to marry in game, but I don't have to do the confession, because the one I chose can do it?

Anna 88MK Ah you mean that? I never save before my child is born so I can't tell you for SURE if it will be random. As for confessions, they can go both ways. That means as soon as you and your partner hits S relations with each other you can confess to them or they might do it themselves later.

But I still want an S rank friendship :/
No matter how many battles we fought together and after many interactions, the rank just don't want to turn from A to S >.

Hanna Vanburen Apparently the voice bug only happens if you have the JP voice pack from DW8XL downloaded.so you will want to delete your 8XL data before getting Empires installed (so I've heard)

Only one child per playthrough, no more than that. But if you have a good collection of titles you can just copy CAW and make your own children that way hah, it's not like they have additional interaction in game

simulationboy It's an option you can pick, tho it's terrible. All you do is give up leadership to another character and then you and your family become wandering officers again.

I played with lu bu had child with diao chan was expecting someone like lu lanqui and I got that same abomination, creators should have forseen some matches and prepared some a little better

It's his CAW based of off Dong Zhou's granddaughter Dong Bai. I made a similar one and I always have her be sworn siblings with Lu Lingqi.

Wtf! Why the hell you have like 4x more allies when you play solo then when u play splitscreen? When u play splitscreen every officer have 9 soldiers and the enemies have a looot. When u play solo then u officers have like 30 soldiers and it liok like a real war fights everywhere but on solit screen its trash! Cuz it dont look like war, everyone go on you and you have no allies even the bases have only like 6 soldiers and on solo they have a lot. I seriously dont get this and it ruin the game for me l dont wana feel like it's me vs everyone l want the war feeling. Total disappointment.

Because I have an idea in mind for a female warrior army when this game comes out in North America, but since people of the same sex can't conceive a child I was planning to have them adopt one. I also haven't played any of the Empires games before, 8 will be my first. C:

It seems to always be a daughter for me. Some of them look really weird lol. My Sun Quan x Lianshi daughter had Lianshi's facial appearance with Sun Quan's extremely large eyebrows lol.
