Nice to see female politicians taking part in such discussions with maturity and understanding. Never seen this before. Thanks to the NPP women are given the opportunity and the support to come forward to serve the country.
One cant help but compare this very useful & informed discussion with the former governments political faces such as hirunika, paba, geetha etc. Etc. What a contrast it is!!!
"You are one of the most essential representatives in Parliament. Your expertise extends beyond laws to encompass business and financial management, which is a remarkable strength. You are an excellent leader, and we deeply appreciate your efforts to move this country forward." Thanks to President Anurakumara and NPP leaders ❤❤❤
Nice to see female politicians taking part in such discussions with maturity and understanding. Never seen this before. Thanks to the NPP women are given the opportunity and the support to come forward to serve the country...keep it up ..your govt is only 2 months.. but some idiots asking lot of things from you.. dont worry.. continue your good job..
What an excellent discussion. Not because it was done by a member of the NPP government instrument but for being honest and willing to listen to peoples needs sensitively and empathetic.
I think this MP is well versed with the impact of global events on Sri Lanka. The media has to be more responsible in their line of questioning and criticism. One has to understand the country just suffered a significant climate disaster, and the government is facing all challenges in a multifaceted manner. The main focus appears to be on improving the efficiency of public services officials and strengthening the judiciary. People with clear consciousness can see that some changes to the system are already taking shape. It is a hard task to address every issue in a short period.
It's truly inspiring to see women stepping forward into politics in Sri Lanka. This is a powerful step toward progress, as their leadership can bring diverse perspectives and drive meaningful change. Together, we can support them in improving processes and policies. It is our shared responsibility to help reform the government and work toward a brighter future for our country.
A new breed of parliamentarians! Thank you, NPP for nominating a bunch of educated young women who have proper goals and do some good for our marginalised women and children in this country.
I think that regarding getting a higher rating on Fitch or Moody’s, good governance and anti-corruption play major roles, which the NPP has already proven repeatedly. So, finally, Sri Lanka is in safe hands. We will have to work hard to break norms and change old bad habits, which will not be easy but is necessary. We will get there. Sri Lanka is heading in the right direction for sure.
Madam Lakmali being MP he or she should come to this type of challenging forums to address the issues of this country. We appreciated your knowledge in legal sector and economic sector in broaden manner.Sorry to say there are some ministerial portfolios holders lacking behind their respective scope of subjects to address their issues. We would like to see other parliament members should take part in this sort of valid program in any language to show off their talents spacially the those whom have track on the people advavers commented characters to clarify their talents. We reggrated the culture they used to be voicing to media in one way traffic. It's something like in a breaking the clay Pots in isolated house . Involvement of voice cut theory some are thinking they can tune the people to their rhythms. We think President have to rethink about the weaker ministerial portfolios have be make readjust with talented selected person to address the country rebuilding process in speedy manner.
We have lot of laws for the sake of children & women. But, still they are suffering by lawbreakers. These breakers may be their close relations many times. What are the steps that NPP government would take to stop these types of incidents.
It's no doubt that the system needs complete overhauling, and obviously, such a task requires a reasonable amount of time. However, if the government cannot answer a question like where we will be in years time and how do they expect to eliminate revenue collection departments' corruption, it's alarming.
I disagree with the honourable member saying that once the local government and the Provincial councils are established the corruption in some of The government institutions can be controlled. I have heard saying some ex officers worked in the administration saying that the administrative regulations and financial regulations is the main weapon used to drag or block in decision making paving way to corrupt practices citing rules and regulations in the books. The idea is they know how to manupulate the AR and FR. The slow progress of this country can be due to this.
But your government is not prepared to go for fiscal Stimulus Plan to utilise for sustainable development of Sri Lanka. Govts have totally failed to utilise idling resources in Sri Lanka which would have contributed to increase the GDP by billions rupees in Sri Lanka
Dear cute MP i would like to mentioned that president AKD still more credibility about us because others ministry progress slowly and dull, specialy police dept. Very currupted officers still same as early, we gave enough powers to govt. But so far culprits still big chairs, also very soon wasantha samarasinghe, minister of trade full fill joneston Place 😂 We hope you be a cabinet minuster post near future,
So many empty words to answer the first question cause she knows she didn't & is not planning to do so. She's yet another liar, but smarter than Kottahachchi.
Looking at the comments below I was flabbergasted, she has no depth in countering the arguments but scratches the surface. Being a lawyer one shouldn't think they know everything. Lejjai
What a useless, uninspiring, and empty discussion. They lack transformative vision, sort of metamorphosis of society, culture, education and law. But at least they are better than the old guard of 76 years.
76 Years of wrongs cannot be corrected in 100 days. It will take generation of progress to accomplish that task. The bad habits are ingrained in the culture and fabric of society. Only education from a young age will correct that.
Typical fn Sri Lankan complaining without providing any viable alternative. Are you a disenchanted Gota and MR supporter? If you want to, be a better citizen starting today!

54:25 Fantastic discussion on public policy compared with everything I’ve seen on Sri Lanka TV. Many thanks MP LakmaliH and Niresh from News 1st.

It is great to see NPP given chances to these kinds of female politicians.

I feel the discussion should be in the Sinhala language. Village people cannot understand the English language.
Nilanthi is there to lie in Sinhala.
