I first climbed Snowdon during a school trip aged 13, that was 54 years ago. From the top we could see Ireland! On the way down we stopped to rest, eat and skim stones into Glaslyn. I swear the guy in the red jacket at 7.50 was standing at the same spot where I, trying hard to throw the best skimmer, overbalanced and fell into the lake. It was bloody cold and provided the rest of our party with a good laugh.
One of the first dates with my wife of 56 years was the Snowdon Horseshoe , starting with Crib Goch in 1963. . Although I had climbed a lot including Austrian / Italian Alps, it was a first for her. In 2017 on a visit from Canada we were up Snowdon again -- by train . However our Children and Grandchildren did it the proper way. Video was nostalgic for me. Thank you.Mike
I did Watkins Way on a school trip in around '78 when I was 14 - not easy. Many a tale to tell on that trip. Then returned in 1980 and did the Pyg track with my Mum, Dad and Sister. The amount of people we passed in flip flops was unbelievable. Both times I remember the worstest but bestest cup of tea in the world ever - boiling point gets lower as you ascend I think. Best wishes to anyone who attempts Crib Goch - be safe and be happy xxxxxx
Sorry but that freeze frame and zipping noise at 0:24 was sheer artistry, certainly brilliant movie making material. It was the freeze frame just as the say Crib Goch, the sheep stops and looks at you, BRILLIANT.
Well done climbing it I did it in 2007 , never climbed before and I think went the most difficult route possible. I was on vertical wall climbing up most of the time . Had running shoes and beer in rucksack. I was glad a survived and I won't be doing that again lol
Enjoyable video, particularly the humorous interjections. I admire your sense of balance while videoing and negotiating the ridge one handed. It took me back to the time I did the ridge with my now grown up son in the days before GoPros. Thanks.
Well done Anna. Having rescued numerous people over the years off Crib Goch from the (relative) safety of a helicopter, it was great to see what it's like on the ridge itself. And having seen your footage, I'm glad I haven't tried it myself - nothing more embarrassing than having to be rescued by your own mates!!
. . . Crib Goch is probably not the best choice for a first go at the over 3000s in Wales . . . Y Garn and the Glyders would be a good first go . . . or Snowdon via one of the other routes . . . . . . people don't realise the sheer energy drain that an ascent like that puts on you . . .
Wow, well done for making this, very brave! I'm fine with heights, but definitely not risk of death from falling on such an exposed and uneven ledge. Even if my balance was ok which is a big if, I'd worry about a sudden gust of wind...I was offered the chance to do this, but I'm very glad I took the easy route up in the end.
3:52...birds are smarter than many humans. They realise people are more likely to fall off Crib Goch if they are only using one hand to hold on and the other to film.
Did this a few days ago, I was absolutely on top of the world. I loved every second, I cannot wait to do it again! I did it with a guide but am ready to do it solo, I'm usually a massive risk taker so my family were like ain't no way we are letting you do that on your own. Understandable since it was the first time I have ever done a scramble. So good.
Great video! The first time I did Crib Goch there was no wind and it was possible to walk along the top without holding on! I wouldn't dare now I am older and wiser!
I got anxiety watching this because my vape was on empty and I risked burning a 4 day coil. But I refilled it and realised you're an adventurer not a TicToc narcissist. All good, Crib Goch looks tough compared to Striding Edge.
well put together ! done Crib Goch a few years ago just to tick it off and swore i would not do it again . but making plans for this year . my favourite route is watkin back down the south ridge taking in y Aran .
There's one good thing Anna apart from the amazing views and that is you filmed at the same time as traversing the ridge - Nik did his bit. That's got to be a plus for your courage factor. I must say the studio you and the outdoor you are two very different creatures. Great video. Mark.
Very well done to you. I have thought about doing this route for years but have always put it off because I am too much of a scaredy-cat when it comes to sheer drops. However, your video has been an inspiration to me and I am determined to do it later this year, probably around about May 2018. Although I won't be carrying a selfie stick - I will need to concentrate on where I am putting my feet.
Great video. beautiful views. I love mount Snowdon. The bussiest mountain in europe and maybe the world. Crib Goch. The red ridge. Did you have anybody pass you from the other way on the narrow parts? Very scarey if the person coming towards you is not confident.
Great job! Just came across your English channel, and then found this one. I'm going to learn to surf this summer. Wish me luck! I'll cheer for you, too!
I really like this video! It is entertaining and inspiring at the same time. The voice over is so lovely and warm, I really enjoyed it. You are such a great person Anna!
Nice to seen the ole lass again, not been up since 2000. Couldn't remember the exposed bits - must do it again one day. Recommend 'Ring of Steal' next only one wee bit of leg wobble, and grand day out.
I did the miners track with my 5 year old on Sunday 29th August. I thought that was difficult.. But Oh my god.. this one is super scary. But I am now challenging myself to do this track in my next visit. thank you for showing the path. It definitely helps. :) And lovely video..
If you liked that look into climbing the Anoch Egach in (above) Glen Coe, Scottish Highlands. Will make Crib Goch seem like a breeze - not substantially harder, just an awful lot longer :)
When you finish scrambling Crib Goh you can take wild path on the right just before the path to Snowdon and then get to very beautiful lake with little waterfall. Stunning place and not many people know about it :-)
Its not that dangerous if a little bit of forward planning and research in undertaken. Crib Goch is not technically challenging, it may be a Grade 1 scramble, but its not a difficult mountain, thousands of walkers cross its ridge every year, and compared to say Snowdon which is across the valley straight ahead, it claims fewer casualties. It is certainly very exposed, and some of its ridge is above 3000ft in height, so it commands respect, but its within the capabilities of just about anyone with a head for heights. Its those walkers who have not familiarised themselves with the challenge and exposure of such a tall mountain. A lot of walkers attempt Crib Goch, not knowing what to expect, and its those people who get into difficulties.
It's exposed. But there's plenty of space along it to relax and sit down etc. It's only dangerous because the sides are scary if you look down. But there's shit loads of space along the ridge. Always looks bad on camera
Hey 🤔 I swear Anna taught me propper articulation on UA-cam haha small world. I did Snowdon for the first time a couple of weeks ago via Llanberis path. Even though it was busy I loved it. I'll definitely be doing Crib-Goch when I return, providing my company feel confident.
Just came across your video..... great footage. I did it in May'12 with my walking mates (average age of the group back then would have been around 66yrs). I was too busy crawling along the ridge to think of filming the experience so it was great to view your footage. It was the scariest thing I've done as I'm not comfortable with heights but a fantastic feeling of achievement after I had completed it. I wouldn't do it again BUT this May the same group, older, though not wiser, spent a week in The Lake District. I completed Jake's Rake, and parts of that I thought were worse than Crib Goch. Again, some very exposed sections on the way up. If you get up to The Lakes check it out.
I nearly did this route, got to the start of the knife edge and bricked it. None of my fellow walkers argued for going on. Think I'm getting old, hahahah
Respect! The views were obviously worth it. Not sure if I would have managed it, maybe if I were a bit younger? But seriously a great video; take care!
This is a very revealing video of what this route throws. I'd be a little uncomfortable without ropes on the scramble up the ridge. Still want to try 😊
Really enjoyed this video, non macho style very refreshing! Made me want to try this route. Been up Snowden 5 times and always had cloud! Great job- thank you.
Hello thanks for your video. Can you tell me how you put together the voice over for the first 53 seconds over the video clips. Do you put the video clips into the timeline first and then speak over them.? Ive never understood how its done. Hope you can help. David
Anna's Big Adventure. Hi Anna, are you seeing the images on the timeline of your video editor when you are making the voice recording though. ? Or do you just make a voice recording and then put that on to the Timeline and then add the images to fit in with that voice recording. ?
its on my list to do, ive been up ben nevis 3 times, scafell pike twice and Snowdon 4 times from various routes, I didn't realise crib goch was so close hahah oh well next time I'm up that way will give it a bash. cheers for the views!
Enjoyed the video, it’s my next trip! Be interested in knowing what equipment you used to film it? I’m trying to work out the best way to film hiking without my heavy DJI steadicam 🤔
You can use the GoPro with their steady cam option as it’s much lighter but not always great for sound. A good iPhone can also do the trick these days. Or a Sony RX100 type of blogging camera.
@@AnnasBigAdventure yeah I've had a steady cam for my old GoPro before which was quite good. I guess GoPro would be best for the ever changing weather conditions and then maybe use a clip mic plugged into my phone for the talking and sync up after
Yeah if you need to capture clear audio then your phone and a clip mic is a good option. It’s tricky getting the right lot for blogging these adventures. Some of my equipment won’t work in certain temperatures, or altitudes. I always tend to take a couple of options out to ensure I am covered. My new iPhone 11 captures awesome footage and I’d be tempted to have it as a backup.
Me and my dad summited snowdon on may 18th 2019 but weather was not on our side as clouds quickly rolled in so we could only see about 5 metres in front of us
Anna's Big Adventure thank you i wish we had good views but well done for doing crib goch in August me and my dad are going to try and summit try-fan one of the trickier mountains in wales you should try it 👍🏻🙏🏻

Wow! Anna, are you using a Go Pro camera? Views are stunning, and you are very brave to shoot while climbing...I love mountains and will write down this place's name to visit it some of these months (hopefully). By the way, congrats for the great and constant hard work you do on UA-cam! I train daily my voice with your tips and warming up videos...you are such a great singer and, as I see, an amazing person too! Greetings from Spain (but I'm Bulgarian :D )
Maybe it's because I'm British, but these types of mountains fill me with more awe than the Alps or the Pyrenees ever do - even if they're much taller in height.
that was awesome, too bad the cloud cover rolled in, that would have been a spectacular view. never the less the sight of you having fun is more enjoyable than seeing the land from above
I believe I was using my Canon vlogging camera, I would recommend a GoPro for action footage or a flip screen vlogging camera. Think the equipment I use is in the description of my videos.
Hey Anna. The rock climbing is crazy, OMG. I'm so excited to do it now ;) When did u climb Snowdon? How long was it and in which city did you stay? Great video btw. Thx you!!
When i did that root a helicopter was at eye level with us on the ridge. It was great fun. Im proud of my younger sister who did the horseshoe at age 12
I’m a tree climber,my m8 asked me to do this.I found it on you tube(Showed a sheep falling off it,)I never went!!!Latest news is I’m still alive!!He did it though.(Insane!)
A lovely engaging film - well done. When I was up there, shuffling along on my bum just to keep my centre of gravity as low as possible, a fell-runner just trotted past me. You never forget Crib Goch :)
I first climbed Snowdon during a school trip aged 13, that was 54 years ago. From the top we could see Ireland! On the way down we stopped to rest, eat and skim stones into Glaslyn. I haven’t tried it but thank you for the recommendation. Will take a look.

Is the route up marked; especially where it diverts from the pyg track ??? Thanks
Very cool going up Watkin path this Saturday yay never been to the top
Good luck today. I hope you enjoy it.

Just when you think you’ve cracked it ... then you hit the pinnacles .

Nice video. I'm still rooting for you.Stay healthy.
Thank you :)

I’d like to watch any video or film with Nic’s commentary, humming and finger. It would enhance anything I feel! 🤣
Striding edge next?
I like to scramble, it allows me to get my breath back.

that was your first summit and you did Crib Goch? You Crazy!
lol, evidently :)
... good job! ... if you fancy a challenge then try the 3000s ... all the peaks in Snowdonia over 3000ft in 24 hours ...
Great short film to show what this route is to a non walker like myself.
A lovely engaging film - well done. When I was up there, shuffling along on my bum just to keep my centre of gravity as low as possible, a fell-runner just trotted past me. You never forget Crib Goch :)
+Mike H lol 😂 yes some people seem to have no issues with height and danger.
Nice vid I went up Snowdon last year.
