I'm always looking for larger group games. Thanks for this list. I would also recommend Long Shot the Dice Game which plays up to 7 players. It is a fun horse racing game. You don't have a piece, but are helping move all the horses around and increase your money.

Citadels is a neat idea but there’s so much downtime even in a 3 player game as the active drafter stares at the hand of cards and tries to work out the best choice for themselves as well as what all the other players may have taken or may want to take. Selecting that one character is an enjoyable decision, but waiting for 5-7 others to do so while you do nothing sounds dreadfully boring.

My recommendation is Anomia! It’s an easy to learn fast paced card game that only takes 5 minutes to play, although I usually end up playing many many rounds in a row. While labeled as 3-6 players, I’ve played with many more and there’s not really a limit to how many people can play beyond the amount of space at the table

    Recommendations:
-Heat (6 players, 7 with expansion): The game gets more dynamic the more cars are present in the track thanks to the slipstream mechanic, as well as the fact that every player choose how much they'll push their engines simultaneously.
Sheriff of Nottingham (5 players, 6 playe with merry men expansion and included in second edition): Lying is the name of the game, each turn a new sheriff must judge the honesty of the other players, and players are encouraged to bribe the sheriff to muddy their judgement. Fun game even when playing with strangers.

If anyone doesn't know Sequence it's for 2-12 players, is VERY light, can be played with kids to grandparents, and is especially good for non-gamers. I also love playing with experienced players where we use the "loss of card" rule whereas if you forget to take a card by the time the next player finishes their turn you lose a card and have a disadvantage for the rest of the game. Of course we skip this rule for kids and new players. They even have a "giant" version for people with bad eyesight. BTW great list Dave.

My recommendations (both up to 8) - Saboteur and Killer Bunnies: Quest for the Magic Carrot. A friend introduced me and my husband to the first, and we immediately loved the play style. Faction of good/evil trying to reach/sabotage a common goal, with lots of accusation. The second is another friend favorite: there are so many expansions and fun cards that the game is always different and you never know *exactly* if you’re winning or not: everyone with a carrot has a chance! My recommendation is SUPER MEGA LUCKY BOX! It's gamer's bingo and it's so easy to teach. The box says 1-6 but the rulebook itself says you can use two copies of the game for a 12 player game. Like most roll and writes it scales up beautifully because of simultaneous play. It's been my latest obsession. My recommendation for up to 9 players would be Tortuga 1667. The social deduction aspect of it usually resolves itself quickly (unless there’s an odd number of players and an extra sneaky Dutch player) and then you’re left with a light team strategy game. It is important to understand all the cards in the game when playing, so I’ve found players usually like it much more their second time around.

    2) Kemet (can be played with up to 5 players)
    3) Coup (can be played with up to 6 players. With the Reformation expansion, the player count can go up to 10 players)
    4) Dead of Winter/ Dead of Winter: The Long Night (can be played with up to 5 players)
    5) Stone Age (can be played with up to 5 players when including the expansion)

    8) Game of Thrones: The Board Game (can be played with up to 6 players and up to 8 players using the Mother of Dragons expansion)
    9) Libertalia (can be played with up to 6 players. I still enjoy the OG Libertalia from 2012 the best!)
    10) Get Bit! (can be played with up to 6 players)
    11) Chaos in the Old World (can be played with up to 5 players when using The Horned Rat expansion)
    12) Shadow Hunters (can be played with up to 8 players (or 9 players in a variant))
13 Tiny Epic Galaxies (can be played with up to 5 players)
    14) Alhambra (can be played with up to 6 players)
    15) Last Night on Earth (can be played with up to 6 players, recommended at 5 players)
    16) Zombie Dice (can be played with an infinite number of players)
    17) Lovecraft Letter (can be played with up to 6 players)
    18) Abyss (can be played with up to 5 players using the Leviathan expansion)
    19) Elder Sign (can be played with up to 8 players)

However, ever since diversifying my gaming groups, I get more sessions in, and learn new games along the way that I've always been wanting to play. Some of these are currently in print, others are way out of print. Some of them are snappy, others are very long indeed:
    6 Nimmt! - 10
    Acquire - 6
Ticket to Ride (depending on version) - 5
    Civilization/Advanced Civilization - 8
    Titan - 6
Medieval Merchant - 6 (Solid at any number from 2-6)
Heat: Pedal to the Metal - 6
Dune (not Imperium) - 6 (really only a 6-player game)
Empires of the Middle Ages - 6
    Web of Power - 5
    Medici - 6
    Mü & More - 8 (probably best at 5)
