Thanks so much for reacting to my suggestion! It's probably not very well known these days but was a US radio hit in the late '70s. Take care and stay safe!
Michigan here too. Just this morning i was recalling a time when Band on the Run was playing on the radio. I was in the side yard of a friend's house, playing frisbee, when the song came on. At that moment, all was well with the world. He's long gone now, but i have that memory of when we were young.
Actually, Gross tells the story behind this song, and Shannon was an Irish Setter owned by Wilson of the Beach Boys, that had been struck by a car and killed. Gross, coincidently, also had an Irish Setter by the name of Shannon. Gross wrote the song as a tribute to Wilson's dog.
I was like 12 yrs old and my brother had this 45. I'd sit there and play it over and over I didn't know it was about a dog til I was 30 That's when the lyrics made sense I still love this song

i was born in 1969… i remember this song from 1976 growing up in Michigan. I’ll never forget those days.

@@bettertvreceptionwithfoilf7100 so true… those days are long gone, but I try to think about and relive those days.
Gets you in the feels, don't it!!
I thought it was about some woman🤷♂️, meh 🐶
Nope, a dog, sorry you're disappointed.@@RenatoLazyBonesPastorOfMuppets
@@jesuslovesbass3944 yeah it ruined the song for me
Tribute to Carl Wilson's (Beach Boys) Irish Setter named Shannon.
Passing of family dog 🐕
It's about a dog that died
It's about one of the Beach Boys Dogs who was lost at sea.
I like my interpretation😇, that original story does nothing for me emotionally 🤷♂️
