I can't get over how Sylvanas and Varian look in this. To me, she really looks like the leader of the undead and he looks like a man who has seen and done everything. They look right. I can't think of another way to put it.

I think he meant 3:38. It's not a real immersion-breaker like for example splash on the camera, but that underlines his remark further. Although any kind of shaky camera would suffice for that.
Otherwise one could assume that the weapon swing was meant to be aimed at a person standing right at the viewpoint at the time.

+christina1986ify Christina, of course Sylvanas has her self interests in mind when going at it against the legion but according to her updated lore her people and valkyrie are at stake. She only has a small few left and without them she cant populate the forsaken or reincarnate herself. Of course she isn't the same women she was before she became the Banshee queen but with her army of the forsaken and her beloved home of the undercity in jeopardy she's willing to do what it takes to keep it all safe. However Sylvanas is apart of the horde and it may be hard to trust her but Sylvanas hasn't personally done anything towards Varian that would cause him to be hesitant. She followed orders for years by a corrupted warchief and she carries out her duties above and beyond. And to finish up, the basic Idea of legion is to protect their homeland, to protect Azeroth from the burning legion so there is an after to the story. Who knows what happens soon or later.

I wouldn't say the Horde exactly chickened out. Sylvanas (who already has a terrible reputation and with good reason) realized that the Horde were getting surrounded from all sides. Vol'jin going down in battle would have a significant effect on morale, and with the Legion summoning more and more and MORE demons, she realized they had two options: try to flee to the Alliance's side of the island and get torn to shreds by Legion spellcasters, long range fighters and flying demons while doing so, or be massacred and be forced to watch as the Alliance suffers the same fate as them.
Of course, this led to the fallout between the factions and accusations flying both ways (not necessarily without past merit), but in this case, Sylvanas had the foresight to realize that running away and living to fight another day was the right call.

Just want to say this real fast. But the whole WoW movie should have been cgi like this humans and all. The humans make the CG look weird imo. And something about this CG feels slightly better, probably because it's a smaller undertaking but yeah.

We'll that, or you just treat your CGI artists like slaves, force them to work every day, every hour, every second, and replace them every time one of them dies. Then maybe you'll be able to crank out a solid movie within maybe a decade.
i was really hoping the entire movie was gonna be cg like the cinematics. Bliz has just done such an amazing job with them especially in WoD. Plus the voice actors are all awesome as well!
I wouldn't complain :D Luckily I love Duncan Jones' movie "Moon" and a lot of the actors in the fllm so I am hopeful. It is hard to beat the Blizzard cinematics though, so glorious.

+Ocl The Val'kyr are dead and gone after they rezzed Sylvanas in the Silver Pine Questline, but in a future patch Bolvar (Aka current Lick King) could reawaken and bring the Val'kyr back for just that purpose, adding a whole new faction and legion of undead to fight against the Burning Legion, think it's a awesome idea.
The best moment in this cinematic was when the tomb of Sargeras was shown.
This is the first time a cinematic shows the magnitude of a demon invasion. Not even the war of the ancients was that huge.
And that beacon of fel-energy it's emitting.

Who else is here after that tragic DEI trailer of The War Within? Warcraft 3 opening cinematic, wotlk, bc, vanilla, WoD and legion are the bests cinematics ever produced.
It's painful to see the state the game is in now with how poorly sylvanas was written afterwards.
Varian Wrynn is such an amazing character. In the WoW Universe, a lot of the "main" and fan favourite characters date back to the RTS Warcraft games (Arthas, Illidan, Malfurion, Tyrande, Jaina, Sylvanas, Thrall, etc., etc.)
I think, hands down, regardless if he's your favourite Warcraft hero overall or not, it;'s undeniable that Varian is probably the coolest character to debut within the MMO itself. Whatever happens in Legion, he'll always be my High King!

fata muijna So the Azeroth timeline Illidan is dead. But the Draenor timeline he was imprisoned but was never freed because the Burning Legion didn't need him to open the portal from Azeroth's side since they're still dealing with Draenor.

The entire RTS genre is pretty much dead. SC2 has no competitors left and other games have taken its throne in e-sports. They aren't going to make a game so big if RTS aren't doing well on the market.

Man I gotta say. I've never played WoW or Warcraft, but I went on a video spree all about WoW. Cinematics, lore, and character stories and history. Everything put together from beginning to now, this is the best story writing I've ever seen. stories and lores like lord of the rings don't come close. The characters, the things they did, their history, is just amazing. You never know what will happen. There are 2 factions and most people just assume horde are the evil ones because undead, orcs, and things like that are typically considered evil. That's not necessarily true here. Each faction has it's own races, it's own politics, it's own traditions, and neither is really good nor bad. Each faction has its ups and downs, and I love it how it's made so it's not easy deciding 100% on a side. Yea horde and alliance have endless problems with each other, but they do come together to defeat a greater evil. Both sides have done good, and both sides have done bad. This story doesn't just throw a bunch of pointless action together with something truly evil constantly trying to destroy the world, but it also did a great job on character development. There never is a pointless death in WoW. And 1 action always leads to another event. Blizzard, I applaud you. Would love the entire story starting from Warcraft 1 up until now to be made into a series of movies. I watched Warcraft and loved it. Now GO MAKE MORE!!! I quit playing MMOs because recently any MMO I've played had just very poor lore and story design. And While they had some good moments, it all just came back to oh wolves are a danger to us go kill them. Get to end game, take down some baddy, and still don't really know much about the lore, or the characters. I know like who the king was but that's it... Nothing about the actual characters themselves. I am about to buy WoW and start playing MMOs again. Is it worth starting the game now?
FoolishGamer absolutely. Legion is by far one of the best expansions to date. Do yourself a favor and get this game.

I know I'm kinda late, since your comment have been a year ago, but if you're that interested in the lore you should definetely go into World of Warcraft Chronicles. Even with tons of books about specific events of Warcraft lore, Blizzard decided to summarize the chronology in these 3 books, making it easier to understand, doesn't matter if you're a 10y+ player or a newbie. Once you understand not only the isolated events but the relation between them, it would be great for you to read the regular books!

Sylvanas x Varian? would kinda make sense! A human prince turned Sylvanas into one of the undead and made her loose faith in "humanity". Now she gives a human king back his faith and his trust towards her will, in reteurn, give her back faith in humanity and a purpurse in "unlife".
IF Varian should die at the end of Legion and turned into one of the undead... they´d make a great couple ..just saying.

He is by far the best racial leader at this moment and quite possibly the one that is the most balanced. If I had to vote, Varian would have my vote, with Magni being a close second (there is a very solid chance and some compelling evidence he is coming back).

With how many of these airships that have been destroyed in the recent years, you'd think the gnomes/goblins/dwarves would have developed some kind of parachute mechanic that assists the ship if it is shot out of the sky. Such a waste! .
They are flying pretty low, I don't think a parachute would help

I love this cinematic for the fact that it shows the gyrocopters and flying airships in their full glory.
I assume we saw Varian and Sylvanas not only due to the Alliance and Horde working together against the Legion are seen working together in this trailer but both are from the Eastern Kingdoms.The Broken Isles are just North West from the Eastern Kingdoms. They I would imagine be attacking from a South, South Easterly direction. I imagine Vol'Jin and Tyrande or other faction leaders from Kalimdor will be in close proximity to one another attacking from a West, South Westerly direction.
+Kyle Murray There are rumors that Stormwind and Undercity are destroyed by the legion which is why it's these two going there first. Again, just rumors, nothing confirmed, but does seem likely. Both of em, especially Stormwind, could use some updating at some point anyway, might aswell blow em up.
