@@infer426 There's no indication she got back together for money, that's just you're assumption. It's not like they are selling millions of albums like Drake and Taylor Swift.
Impressive review of the band. Text and execution are really high level! Hope Fleet Foxes and Robin Pecknold keeps transforming into amazing different things that we all appreciate. Love from Brazil.
Tell me about it man! I think it's their magnum opus! And I hold their EP's and first two full-lengths in the highest regard so that's saying something!
Saw them in Louisville back in 17 ' Was so stoked to maybe hear Blue ridge mountains. Sure enough , half way through the set it starts , I'm just digging the whole vibe. SUDDENLY , THEY JUST STOP ! Pecknold runs off the stage frantically, I'm like " oh shit ,what has happened to interrupt such a great song. Lights go down , people start whispering , think the show is over. About 4 or 5 minutes go by , BOOM! Robin runs back out strapping his guitar back on with an explanation " Sorry, my vocal coach insists I drink a lot of water"-audience laughs with relief - On they go , guess that's as a unique version of Blue ridge any audience would have ever heard . It was pretty funny, sure i'll never hear that song again without a little chuckle.
It's funny, I find myself listening to FJM more often because his music is much more tangible and it's just an easier listen. That's not to say his writing holds less water, I think his way of conveying his view of the world is really interesting and fucking hilarious most of the time. But when I put on a fleet foxes album, I'm sitting in my room alone with my eyes closed, and just experiencing it. It's just an otherworldly experience I don't want to taint by relating it to any ordinary moments I have in my day. As cheesy and pathetic as sitting alone in your room in the dark and humming along to Fool's Errand is, I really recommend it
lmao, i feel the exact opposite way towards FJM, Pure Comedy is unbearable to me. Not saying that his music sucks by any means, I just enjoy Fleet Foxes a lot more.
-Siwel2308 - pure comedy is way to of a politically try hard album. Something being political doesn’t necessarily always mean the song is going to be bad. For example “Pumped Up Kicks” is a very good song. Why is it a good song ? Because they didn’t try to hard at making it political. The song and it’s theme actually came to them. But Pure comedy is trying way to hard in its political statements. It comes off as very cringe.
@@reecealeck8314 Although not my favorite by any means, Pure Comedy was (in my opinion) one of the best albums of the second half the decade. Although songs like "Two Wildly Different Perspectives" do come out a little bit corny I feel like some of the lines in the album were really smart. I don't think that FJM introduced us to whole new side of humanity, but the presentations as far as lyrics go was a really unique experience. But I think it's 100% understandable that someone might dislike it. I wasn't really a big fan of it either for the most part.
I liked FJM at first, although he doesn't even come close to FF for me. Unfortunately I got to see FJM live and he was such a complete prick that it ruined his music for me, I haven't been able to listen since.
I love the Fleet Foxes. I just can't stop listening to them. They're probably the only songs I can practise, cover, edit and still be obsessed with. Would love to get some feedback on some of my covers. Thanks for the beautiful and interesting video!
Nice video. My only gripe is that there was no mention of Morgan Henderson, while a large portion of time was dedicated to jTillman/FJM. Morgan is an incredibly talented musician. Highly underrated and underrepresented
That they went from Bloodbrothers to Fleet Foxes is crazy. Crystal Skulls is one of my top 5 bands of all time. Bloodbrothers was life changing. Insane to combine those into this.
Fuck Me! That was so good. I saw one of your videos way back and stumbled across this one. I was disappointed to see you hadn't grown much, and after watching one of the most creative, moving, and impassioned videos on the platform I was doubly disappointed. I hope you keep the amazing work going and I wish you much success in your future pursuits.
Thank you my friend. I have been quite happy with my success so far, 1450 subscribers in 7 months is nothing to laugh at for me, and I continue to grow at an increasing rate. I hope next year will be even better for my channel. I greatly appreciate your comment.
This was fantastic. Spot on commentary, putting my feelings into words. Crack-Up is my favorite album, even a year after its release, I still listen to it all the time. There's so much to dig into.
Her shift from jazzy baroque pop to ‘experimental’ indie pop? I’ll enjoy being surprised by such a video two plus minutes in, since to me there is a very simple framework for the progression- money/fame
Crack up reminds me something that of van morrisons astral weeks it's like a song cycle mainly controlled by the vocals and harmonies but the instrumentation wrapped around it all is super lush and sensual, you can feel so much emotion in it all, beautiful album as are the others
I really enjoy your videos; you are very articulate at what you do. I would highly recommend that you listen to an album called Touch (1969). It's a well kept secret of sorts, but I think someone such as yourself really ought to hear it!
It's self-titled. The musicians are Don Gallucci, Jeff Hawks, Joey Newman, Bruce Hauser, and John Bordonaro. The band dissipated after their 1969 debut.
Wargo needs more flowers. And I gotta say, personally, the Ep is the best they ever did. It's all good stuff but I personally love hearing a little more Crystal Skulls in it.
So i came here hoping to find a specific idea I've heard before... It has to do with FF and the evolving use of the Sun in their lyrics. I enjoyed this video, though I was disappointed to not find what I remember hearing somewhere. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where to find it?

Hey dude great video very informative and interesting although I have to kinda a disagree with you on the crack up album I love the bend and i follow them for a very long time, but in my opinion crack-ups isn't there greatest work, although they have made quite a drastic change on that album they haven't yet harnessed the full potential of that new sound that they've invented I think that will happen only in albums to come. And your video seems pretty objective until that point that you started talking about crack up and how much you love the album. And I think it is important that if you're making a video about a history of whatever to stay as objective as possible. But other than that love the video, it was very well made great work.
The last two albums are both quality, yet far from the quality of their EP and og release. Their latest is starting to get back to their golden days, though
Thomas Berry I heard blue ridge mountains in a store and I found them and I fell down the rabbit hole and I’ve literally obsessed with with all of their songs
As much as I like Fleet Foxes I just dislike artist worship in any sense and this kind of feels like more of that. I just came from a record club someone was hosting and everyone was heaping praise on the album and the artist just because they were old and this feels like more of the same except it's a more contemporary artist. I just wish we could appreciate the music we like without thinking the people who made it are these perfect geniuses and leave room for criticism and actual discussion. Constant glowing praise is just so...boring, you know? And it makes me resent and question my own appreciation for the thing in question.
And then Shore came... just an amazing album.
Yeeees! I'm so happy in those times especially to see and to listen that gold.
Helplessness Blues is still one of my favorite albums to this day
Same here, I’ll put it on whenever I need to relax

Years from now, Crack Up is going to be looked at like a masterpiece and one of the greatest of this time.

This is so insightful, they’ll always be my favorite band :,)
The editing in this video is as beautiful as FF's songs. Great narration as well
