      English isnt complex. In fact there are languages way harder than english but depending on which language you speak english can seem dificult

      @@AntonioSilva-ie6yz The thing that makes English difficult is that we have 100x more irregular verbs compared to Japanese, and the languages are very different.

      i’ve been learning grammar and the grammar is different. Instead of “I like sushi”, its “i sushi like”. And you can get rid of the i in the sentence if you’re talking to one person because the important subject in the sentence is the object and verb.
      I like sushi is:
      私はすしが好きです。
      Watashi wa sushi ga suki desu.
      Sometimes, you can just say: sushi ga suki desu, if you’re talking to one person.
      That’s what I’ve learned so far!

      konnichiwa! just a tip, i would suggest learning one language at a time, because japanese has a lot of borrowed words from many different languages including spanish.

    Don’t really recommend using “Sayonara” that often because it Used when you don’t really know if you gonna see the person your saying “Sayonara” to ever again, if it’s a friend or you’re sure you’ll meet the person again you can just say = “Bai Bai” or “Mata Raishuu” , Hope i helped!

    thank you so much Japanese 101 for helping me tremendously in my japanese self learning. im learning japanese bc it's a dream to settle in japan and i think knowing the language will help me communicate with people. i also really love the culture and the history of japan and i love reading traditional stories like the tale of genji. learning japanese as my fourth language, quarantine made us all so productive heh. lets go!!

      @@sgg_02x Hiragana and katakana aren't too bad. They're like the English alphabet but longer. It's just the minimum 2000 kanji you need to know lol.

"useful" is kind of objective , but you'll definitely find more jobs in the US that can make use of the spanish. a thousand times more at least. but yeah whats "useful" is different for each person so im not saying you're wrong :D

    the proper way to say "good morning" is: "ohayou gozai masu"
    good evening is: "konbanwa"
    good night is: "oyasuminasai" because I think "oyasumi" generaly means "absence". correct me if I'm wrong, Japanese speakers!

      ohayou gozaimasu is the formal way to say good morning while ohayou is the casual or the informal way to say it, likewise arigatou gozaimasu,(gozaimasu is used to imply politeness).

      @@sugaryslothvr4217 Instead of replying with the same question "ogenki desu ka?" you can say your reply but then ask how they are too by saying "kimi wa dou?" or "(name of person you are speaking to)-san wa?" which basically just means "and you?" or "how about you?". It is more common and considered polite to refer to people by their names in Japan; there are other ways to ask this depending on who you are speaking to but I would stick to using their name if you are a beginner as you can't really go wrong with that. Hope this helped!! :)

    I've learned abit of Korean before Japanese, and I kept thinking and answering in Korean before the Japanese answer came out, I'm confused. Their feeling can be similar sometimes 😂 Guess I didn't waste my time learning Korean hahaha.

    this being for beginner i think adding hiragana over the kanji will really help with reading the Japanese text and not the romaji text

    Honestly my journey with learning Japanese is going something like this : I thought hey maybe I’ll learn a few words to understand anime better I then got sucked in to learning it because of how “ intresting” the language is

    I'm fluent in English and Spanish, might take on a 3rd language, Japanese language seems tough but these phrases are a good start 👍
