I despise the blocking changes! Firstly, It is much more engaging to watch and play as a blocker, when the blocker has to position themselves strategically to intercept the path of an attacked ball, rather than preventing attacks from happening in the first place. Secondly, this increases the advantage to being tall, by making it significantly easier for taller players who can reach further into the opponents' court to block than for shorter players. Thirdly, the penetration of players into opponents' court significantly increases the risk of injury.
Strange I m a referee from FIVB and... Everything looks very old (in this video) or changed to me in 2022 and now 2023. I am in the country where the FIVB have their world wide headquarter so we always are testing for 1 year new rules and maybe that's why I feel like this video is old or the rule is wrong. Sorry for that.
I don't like these changes, the potential for injury increases when feet cross under the line or blockers reach over the net. Landing on someone's foot, they fall, breaking an ankle or twisting a knee, or equally bad, a blocker's finger ends up in the attacker's eye.
in theory you could lie down on you stomach, put your feet in the air and then slide all the way across the opponents court as long as you don't interfere with them...
