Michael, he said that the instrument is a kind of "guitar" which people use to play "Nan Guan " folk music for thousand years.
Sorry for late response, I just saw your comment this morning.
What's that oversized banjo looking instrument? Anyone know how it's tuned? I see him doing allot of bars with his index finger so I'm thinking it's not the standard E A D G B E.
Thats cool. The finger rolling technique is deceptively easy looking. At first I thought it was just pulloffs but there's more going on there. Very interesting. Thank you for the reply.
There's something I've always wondered about. I'm a musician and have studied since I was 8. People in Asia, practically in China realise American Blues is HEAVILY influenced by Asian music right? It's not hard to see how it happened when you think about it either. Chinese immigrants MUST have had to work along African slaves at some point while building the railroads in the US. After working both groups MUST have heard each others music. It's actually a taboo subject among many African Americans, but the number of similarities are too numerous to ignore.
Trust me, Chinese do not want to believe this either. But back to tremolo, they just do not look like or sound like 輪指。
Please believe me when I say that I ment no disrespect. I've always found it fascinating how two groups of people from different parts of the world can be united through music. Surely you and others can see how instruments from ancient China and other parts of Asia led to instruments like the banjo, guitar, violin etc. though? It's isn't talked about much here in the U.S. but it's undeniable in my opinion. Many of our finger techniques seem to be influenced by techniques that originated in the Far East as well
Not offended, but you do not see the underlying psyche, the kind that you have to live among them to see it kind.
好聽
