Those residential deliveries will be fun. I remember when I did LTL I had to decline a few residentials deliveries because they would give me a 53ft trailer and there was no way it would fit through some of those streets.
A quick tip. Always check the operation of the pallet jack before leaving on your run. Discovering a pallet jack low on oil at the first call can really ruin a great day.
Make sure your employer is ok with you interacting with the camera while the truck is in motion on public roads . UA-camrs have been fired for doing it
I was kinda thinking the say think but I was gone say you lookin at the camera to much but hell she mite get fired for askin that just don't look at the camera so much
@dennismelton2261 all the simps defending her 😂 I wouldnt be near my phone at all while driving if I got pulled over or if I was in an accident the cops can see all your activity on your phone
I’ve been a city driver for years. This was a very easy day.I didn’t see one inside delivery or residential deliveries. These LTL companies will send you to do a residential delivery with a 53 foot trailer, they do not care. Or break down multiple pallets of boxes and two wheeler them into a building. All the time screaming at you on the radio hurry up and get to your next stop.
I enjoyed the video!! It reminded me of working at a truck dock when I was in high school and using those pallet jacks. I am impressed with how you wheel that truck around. You make backing up in a big rig look easy. Keep up the good work!
I love watching your videos you bring back memories from when I worked at Pitt Ohio express they were very organized with the loading to give you a particular area to run and they have the the same color trucks.
About heavy pallets. Use gravity to your advantage. I don't know NA trailers but if it is possible to lower the suspension, then do it and/or rise suspension in semi so the floor will tilt downward towards door. And when loading heavy stuff rise suspension in trailer or lower it in semi. Pallets will roll themselves just don't allow them to go too fast. :)
This was a very satisfying video to watch. Good editing, continuity was perfect, the cargo area shots were interesting, and looking forward to more videos like these. Congratulations Bria. Good job.
Great job Bria , that's exactly what I did for 16 years with Saia I'm retired now but yeah except for the advanced technology every thing is pretty much the same I just hope you did strap those drums containing haz mat other than that excellent job👍
As a fellow P&D driver with Saia, I thoroughly enjoy my job. It's great to see the company seems to be moving in the right direction and actively fostering strong relationships with our customers. Keep up the great work and continue driving safely.
Nice job! My only advice is when picking up any drums especially hazmat, always be sure to strap them to the walls. They do tend to shift, plus when they go to break your trailer at the yard, they see that you took the time to secure your load properly...oh yea AND D.O.T. wants to see that stuff strapped FYI..otherwise great video and keep up the videos 👍🏽
Love the less than truckload pick up and delevery videos Bria. Maybe at some point your company will get you drivers electric pallet jacks....... Riding with Chuck at Estes express had one for his deliveries, less chance of getting hurt and more productive, just a idea.
As you get more familiar with your route, it will be very helpful to memorize what time all the customers close and knowing what's in your trailer and where it's going ahead of time so you can deliver out of order, moving some pallets out of the way behind it to do so. I used to have a customer that closed at 2:30 and they always put it as one of my last stops. If I didn't adjust, they never would have gotten their stuff.
Hey Bria, really enjoyed seeing behind-the-scenes of your new job. I was curious about what stops the pallet jack from rolling around, between stops. Could you show a close-up sometime? Cheers, Colin 🦘
Thank you! Good question. I use a pallet jack block/stopper. It’s a rubber square that stops the pallet jack from moving around. I will show a close-up next time 👍
As far as topics, now that you've switched from the LNG tractors to conventionally fuelled, do you notice any difference? I'm sure the extra light in the cab is welcome if it's not too hot.
Thinking of getting my cdl soon, I think I would like it more than some other things but how’s it been treating you? Also Jesus loves you brah 💪🏼 keep trucking
Wishing you the best LTL is very physical demanding especially with residential deliveries but if you are only doing commercial you will probably do very well
OH..SO I didnt miss that many videos!! The last one I watched was when you were quitting AMZN. So this is the new gig. I enjoy see all the Bay Area sites. I moved from Rockridge area (Berkeley) to nasty ass Dallas. I can wait to move back. So have you told us all how much you are making? Us drivers are curious. Is SAIA a union gig? Thanks for the good times.
That’s the beauty of having a CDL, you hold the keys to the kingdom. Don’t have to let one company hold you back when another will value you more (financially or otherwise). Good for you!
I’m in Pa myself looking to transition to trucking with my cdl .that I’ve a had for several years but never really utilized it I hear SAIA has a driver academy for new driver hires. Was considering putting in a application any tips?
I work linehaul for Saia. I switched from city a little over a year ago and never looked back. Once you are eligible you should look into it. Think you'll like it.

Hi, thank you for your videos, I have a question. Is true that drivers need to get Doubles/Triples, Hazmat, and Tankers endorsements, to work for them?
I'm thinking about working for Saia. What time do their shifts start and end. If you exclude traffic delays. I worked for Central freight. They had an 8am - 5pm and a 9am-6pm shift.

Either a pallet jack chock block, or a strap. The chock has a square in the middle where the wheels drop into. Works great, never had an issue.

Watch out for tendinitis in elbows too, working pallet jack all day. Mine would hurt. I was at yellow freight. Your younger though, should be fine.
