This video has proven to be very valuable. I've recently started writing more with my hands and I've enjoyed it more than typing on my computer.

Summary: Use handwritten notes for various reasons which are mentioned in the video. This does not mean that you can not use digital notes/apps but you should incorporate handwriting style. I like it. I agree with this take. I usually use handwritten notes to help me structure some topic or problem. The issue with handwritten notes for me is, that I usually lose them. So it is more of a way to process it.

Hello $Chk. You are right. As I disclaimed at the end of the video, there's nothing wrong with doing both. Regarding losing notes, it's better to keep them in a book that has pages that don't tear loose easily.

@@BeSmarterFasterHi. Yh, I included the ending of your video in my summary too and my point about being able to combine the two styles was not meant as critic but rather as important enough to put that into a summary. :)
Regarding losing notes: Yes, books are good. Thanks for the tip.
Though my main problem is not being able to stick to one solution due to e.g. forgetting where said book is. For that reason I developed the strategy to not see my notes as permanent but rather as a way to structure my thoughts. That way I can remember them better.
But it is not my final solution. I would love to be able to reference my notes and use them productively.

Wonderful. Thanks for the reply. I didn't think you were being negative, in fact i was agreeing with you. Sometimes text is not a very good way to convey emotion. LOL Happy to have you as an active viewer.

And to YOU too svt. (By the way, are you aware that an SVT is one of the most popular and esteemed bass guitar amplifiers? The Ampeg SVT is legendary. - or did you know that and name yourself because of it? LOL )

Hi Matt, I am impressed with your knowledge of bass gear! Do you also play bass?
Yes, the SVT in my screen name is an homage to the verable amp, and to one of my favorite basses, the Rickenbacker 4001! 😊

SVT.... As you may have guessed from a couple of my other videos, I have a 'thing' for names. It's such an unusual screen handle that I tried to guess what it might refer to. LOL
I was a working musician (Keys) performing under the stage name Zed Maestro for decades. (you can Google me. LOL) Was on the bill with many international acts. So, I worked with TONS of musicians over the years. In one of my favorite bands, our bassist often played his "Rick". It's my favorite sounding bass.

Hello. Most of the paragraphs in my book are two sentences long so I end up reading the whole chapter. What should I do? In regard to your textbook strategy.

    • @BeSmarterFaster
      @BeSmarterFaster  6 місяців тому +2

Hi Caleb. I got the message you also left on my other video with the answers to most often asked questions about "How To Absorb Textbooks Like A Sponge". My advice would be to scan the chapter multiple times as I indicated and just leave out the part about reading the first and last chapter of each paragraph. The point of the exercise is to give yourself multiple exposures to the text before actually digging in a reading it thoroughly.
Also, be on the lookout. I have a new video coming soon on the difference between taking notes from Books, Vs Lectures Vs Powerpoints Vs Recorded Lectures

Hey Farha! Having already gone through the whole neet ug phase about 6-7 years ago and preparing for neet pg right now here's what helped me get that rank.
      1. PYQ's - You've obviously heard all toppers tell you how important solving previous year questions are. That is because pyq is key to preparation. First of all you'll get acquainted with what kind of questions you would get in the exam and you'll also see that a lot of questions do repeat in our entrance exams.
      2. Prioritise practicing MCQ's over just reading textbooks. The more questions you solve, the better.
      3. If you've taken up entrance coaching somewhere, make sure you take up every test seriously and prepare for the test accordingly.
      4. Consistency over perfection. It doesn't matter if you cannot study for 12-16 hours everyday. Even if you're going out, meeting family or friends or have a family function going on, just make sure you study for a few hours that day so that you don't lose your habit of studying every day.
      5. Make sure you have a strong foundation, but that doesn't mean you stick to just reading and learning from textbooks and not solve questions. The more questions you solve now, the faster you'll be able to solve them on the day of exams.
      6. About biology, that was my weak point too, but I was strong in physics. What I did in biology was repeatedly to questions. "Repetition is the mother of learning". So the more you repeat the same topics doing different questions the more you'll remember. And also you have to revise it multiple times. Regarding physics I used to be very strong with the concepts but I used to forget formulas and used to derive everything while I did the questions, which actually took a lot of time. So what I did was everytime I study a chapter, I take out one paper and write down all formulas from that chapter on it, and use that paper while I solve. When I solve multiple questions, I revise from the paper multiple times and thus I remember all formulas. Also use other entrance preparation books (not just ncert) because they contain simple formulas to do certain kinds of questions that are repeatedly asked. If you were to use just the formulas from ncert, you might take like 6-10 minutes, but with the entrance book formula you just have to substitute values and find answers.
      7. Also make sure to read the ending of the question first for physics and chemistry. Know what they want you to find. Sometimes you won't even have to read the whole question (I don't mean to always risk it, but the more you practice you'll get what I mean). So you read what the question wants you to find and then remember what unit it is expressed in. Check for that in answers (you might be lucky and won't even need to solve). You should basically know how to play with units. Even if you don't know the formula to find the answer, if you find the unit you might just figure out how to get there.
But practice is key. My biggest advice is to always practice MCQ's.
      8. Drink lots of water, eat healthy and make sure you're not over stressing about the exam. Staying mindful is equally important. Do some yoga or workout in between or even better you can go for a walk when you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed.
      Hope this helps ♡

Great video. I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and would like to say how this advice is important. In my life as a Software Engineer, I've always been constantly studying and had changed my style many times. Only typing on a keyboard is good, but hand-writing I can draw, which helps me to create some mnemonics, create maps and write thoughts easily. A good suggestion I would like to add are Rocket Books. You can easily pass information digitally to your apps of choice after writing by hand. It seems better than taking photos and uploading.
    Thanks for sharing great advices!

Prior to your comment, I was totally unfamiliar with Apple Pencil. However, based on what I've seen in the few minutes I've checked it out, it seems like it could be something of value. If you like it, use it. I need to do a bit more research before I give it a full "Thumbs Up".
