Flint Ridge

Today we visit Flint Ridge in eastern Ohio.
Ancient people quarried flint at this site for thousands of years. Many artifacts have been found that were made from the flint from this site.

I live in Ohio, love fossils, flint and geology, have never been to Flint Ridge (only heard about it fairly recently), but was seriously planning to visit within the next month, before cold weather. Thanks for a preview of what's there!

I always have to laugh about exhibits like this, they make Native Americans look like primitive Neanderthals. When, in fact on the East Coast, when the English arrived Native Americans had advanced agriculture, animal, husbandry, as well as hunter gathering to support themselves. in fact, large populations existed on the east coast until small pocks came along.
