    Really appreciate your style of review. The comedic touches take dry material like specs and makes them not just tolerable but enjoyable. I also appreciate your concise and relative information regarding your personal assessment of the product. My only want is for someone such as yourself to include 2 or 3 mics in the same price category that are maybe even better than the one reviewed or possibly take the mystery out of it all and name a couple of mics that are maybe perceived as better due to brand imaging or model upgrades but in actuality when reviewed to the current product we find out that they are not. This would also be really helpful in narrowing down a wide field of possible mics to consider. Thanks for your review.

      Thanks for all the kind words!
      Since this video (it’s a little old) I have been able to keep quite a few of the mics I review so I am actually able to compare them in each review! Usually I will include mics around a similar price.
      In fact, in my review of the FiFine K669C I included the MXL 770! So if you do want to hear it against some other mics, you could check that out here:
      ua-cam.com/video/nqsfzb6_h8U/v-deo.html
      It looks like the comparison with similar mics starts around 7:59. The MXL is at 9:06.
      Thanks for the comment and the support!

    Just watched your AT2020+ USB review and am debating whether to get that one or this one (plus all the stuff it needs) for female vocals. As a total newbie at recording with no prior equipment and a macbook pro, which would you recommend to invest in? I don't mind saving up and spending more overall for this MXL 770 if the sound is noticeably better for song recording. Thanks!

      Based off of quality for price... I would have to go with the 770 being 23% less money, and the at2020 doesn’t sound 23% better... I’d argue it doesn’t sound better than the 770, just slightly different. Not to mention the 770 accessories are WAYYYY BETTER than the 2020. The high end of the AT2020 just bugs me. I know it sounds like I am shitting on the AT2020, I am not, I just think the 770 is a better value, and I feel like the AT2020 is overrated.

      For a tight budget, I'd say behringer's um2 or umc22. Both of them have the same features but the um2 is a plastic body and has the xenyx preamp If I'm correct and the umc22 is metal body and has the midas preamp. I'd say both of them are fairly priced too, hope this helps as a kinda late answer.

      You want to be able to record this mic with your phone? In order to do this you would need a dedicated device, basically an interface for your phone, like an iRig PRE. There are quite a few devices out there that make this possible that can supply phantom power to the mic, but without one of those it isn’t possible with just the mic and a cable.

    • @mochico88
      @mochico88 4 роки тому

      If you have a USB interface and your phone has a C type connector, you can get yourself a USB A to C adapter and it can work. Best to have your phone at full battery depending on how long you will be recording as you won't be able to plug it in to a power source at that point.

    anyone know why my xml 770 sounds like a radio effect is put on my voice? i think its the midrange is boosted or something, if i eq like -10 to -20 db around the 500-2000 range it sounds more normal. i know its not the environment, its decently sound treated and ive tested in 4 different treated rooms already. i dont get it.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  4 роки тому +1

      Busta Baby I assume you are talking about the circle that has a dip in the bottom area? Kind of looks like an upside down rounded heart? These symbols refer to the polar pattern that the microphone has. This microphone has a cardioid polar pattern. Cardioid polar patterns are most sensitive in the front, less sensitive on the sides, and least sensitive from 180 degrees.

      @@AudioHotline to the right of the imput symbol is a line then another with a 45°line that then goes straight ?
      Obviously the other switch on the mic is minus 10 db
      But whats the other switch with the 2 lines ?
      An thanks man, great clip bro !

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  4 роки тому

      Busta Baby that is the high pass filter it cuts out some bass from the signal. It drops 6dB per octave @ 150hz. It can be a nice way to get rid of some low end rumble on a bassy source.

      I’ve been waiting on the MXL 2006 to get to me, it took a while due to a backorder, but I finally put up the individual review for the 2006. Now I am going to be doing a giant MXL comparison, I have a video coming out this upcoming week, then the next video should be the MXL comparison!
