Zuko was never really a jerk he just wanted to go home after being banished and hurt I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE CALLS HIM THAT! I think everyone would of done a lot worse I would not have just betrayed Katara I would have done so much worse
I think I personally would have pulled a zuko if not I probably would have plotted revenge against my father instead of getting his approval and probably would have either teamed up with the avatar or someone like jet which as we know zuko did both 😂😂😂. But I also fully relate. Idk if I would have betrayed katara, but then again the way team avatar approached zuko as the enemy (justified of course) I probably would have got defensive and went back to being the enemy again because I don't do well when made out to be the bad guy. Plus he was banished at a young age so he has been like this is his reality. I think every move zuko has ever made except dating mai again towards the end would be congruent with myself. Idk who he would have dated instead since katara would be with aang but I think I would have worked out a friendship with mai and maybe look for that earth kingdom girl and try again lol.
@@SapphireBurns remember that often times when kids grow up with abusive parents they don't know what's going on is wrong. All Zuko wanted was to gain his dad's love, and he thought returning home with the avatar would get him just that.
Southern Raiders, best episode for the 2nd best character. I loved to see Katara face her dark side. And while she didn´t take the path that would probably let her become another Azula, she does not forgive. Perfect, how could she forgive something like this? That´s why I love the episode so much. It is not the clear perfect good end of the situation, but more real and relatable.
Shoot i forgot which episode, but when zuko gets in front of the lightning to save katara, is another memorable moment. Added on top of the ones shown, in this video. He saved her and almost died, you don't just take a hit for anyone.
Sam Dude while Aang and Katara spent more time together that does not mean that they saw each other in the same way. Aang viewed her as someone pretty and never spoke with her about personal matters unless it suited him. Meanwhile with the little time they had, Zuko and Katara has a much better start at development with him wanting to help her and her dark side, which Aang had never seen before until the Southern Raiders episode in which he tries to talk her down. Zuko just seems to understand and empathize with her a lot more than Aang, who treats her the same as everyone else except when she’s looking pretty.
@@samdude1526 Listen, Aang and Katara may have had three seasons to built a romantic relationship, but Aang never asked Katara about how she feels towards him. (I have nothing against Aang, he is a sweet kid.) On the other hand, Zuko and Katara may didn't have three seasons of friendship, but they both understood each other better and are more responsible. And if creators had given Zuko and Katara more time Zutara would have bigger chance, plus in Ember Island Players Katara is confused about her feelings for Aang and then fiew eppisodes later she understands them, but didn't have a chance to think about them( her feelings). So Katang, to me, feels forced and childish. (No offens to all Katang shippers.)
@@samdude1526 I don't know that they had 3 seasons of build up with regards to a romantic relationship - or at least I know that if that was the intention it didn't work at all in my case. For me it was clear that Aang had a crush, mostly on the childish and idealized picture he had of her in his head, which was cute and let to some funny moments as an awkward 12 year old tries to deal with that, but... yeah, it always seemed more like an older sister and a younger brother dynamic than a romantic one to me, and I never took it too seriously at all. With Zuko it seemed like two equals who really got each other, respected each other, and really had some incredible chemistry that showed an insane potential for mature and lasting love. I mean, Kataang shippers will always have their canon ending, so that is that, but for me Zutara will always be endgame in my head canon. And yeah... I really hope Netflix will consider making that a reality in their upcoming Avatar series, because Kataang would just be awkward unless they seriously change the age of the characters quite a bit - in which case I guess they could make it a more mature, equal, and believable love story that could change my mind about the pairing. They would REALLY have their work cut out for them though, because it will NOT be an easy sell to me when I love Zutara as much as I do, LMAO.
@@samdude1526 oh, I get that there were moments, but I never felt it moved past the stage of being a childish crush stage. Katara always felt more like his big sister to me, and not like she legit had romantic feelings for him. I guess that is the difference between our view of it - I never felt they were equal partners, you clearly did. I mean, Aang was only 12, so it's not like I blame him for acting like the kid he was, but yeah... It did mean that I couldn't see them as a serious romantic couple. With Zutara I could, and I found beauty in it. But I guess we will just have to agree to disagree as we will never see it the same way 😂
Amen to that! I am really happy to see that I am not the only Zutara fan left after all these years!!! I don't care about canon: I just skip the last scene of ATLA everytime, will never watch LOK or read the comics and then Kataang doesn't exist haha Zutara Forever! And just the fact that after all these years so many people are still shipping Zutara so much just proves that the creators of the show made a huge mistake with Kataang! We should sue!
Katara became the sister that Zuko never had for Azula. He sees her as family, that's why he dove in front of the lightning. Katara feels the same, that's it. There was NEVER any romantic chemistry, that scene where she touched his scar was her feeling sympathy, that's it. He even has his eyes closed and isn't looking at her face. Even when he saves her from the falling rocks he doesn't physically touch her aside from pulling her to the ground, and when she gets pissed at him all his weight is shifted on his left arm. That plus them themselves getting weirded out by how the play portrays them should be enough for you guys to see the truth. Just because hes fire and shes water or because they are both older than Aang doesn't mean they would be a good couple
I love your analysis and it's exactly why Zutara makes so much sense. As a kid, Kataang was great to me but looking back it wasn't very mature. It would have been great if Aang's romanization of Katara was challenged and he was able to love her for the parts that didn't quite fit his image of her.
Your point about Aang never allowing his understanding of Katara change or challenge his views about her are spot on. This weakness is put on full display in the Southern Raiders episode and is never explored again much less resolved.
I absolutely agree, in fact Aang kept idealizing Katara till the end and never truly understood and/or accepted her "dark side". Plus, he has quite a childish conception of the couple: he seems to think that just because he likes her, she is automatically his girlfriend (such as suggested by his nodding during the play, when they weren't really a thing). Another fact is that he has kissed her multiple times and not once has he asked for her permission or made sure she wanted that too, giving the impression that his feelings mattered more than hers. So it would have been nice to see him grow also from a "sentimental" point of view. The fact is, for me, that Kataang could and should have been built better regardless of the presence of a possible Zutara. It's a relationship lacking under various aspects and I seriously hope the live-action improves it (a part of me still hopes to have Zutara at least there, but I recognize that's unlikely to happen).

Right! He didn't really see the real Katara because she always had to be strong and mature and motherly in front of him.But in front of Zuko, she could be herself.
@Bonnie Roberts you mean 3? He would have defeated the fire lord and it would have to be Avatar Aang vs. Some Mini Villain (Azula perhaps?). But then at that point him mastering the avatar state would have not been as necessary.
No katara is aangs girl and mai is zukos girl just know that the creators of the show did this for a reason and when did zuko and katara have a romantic scene
Paisley Wood Obviously we know that. Our argument is that the creators/writers should have planned and made Zutara happen because the two have more chemistry, mutual empathy, and complementarity with each other than Katara with Aang or Zuko with Mai.
Paisley Wood When did I say that? Just because I prefer Zuko with Katara doesn’t mean Mai doesn’t exist. Now in my ideal world, it would probably mean they never were written to have a romantic relationship, which I would have preferred because I never liked Zuko and Mai as a couple. In fact, they broke up in the comics after the show, possibly permanently. But hey, we can totally “pretend” what we want because that is the entire purpose of fandom shipping. You don’t seem familiar with the concept.
I really wish they had had Aang realize that Katara wasn't romantically interested in him, deal with his feelings, and then move on. That would have been so good. I would have been fine with Katara not actually pairing with anyone in show, and we could still have Zutara as the hinted at future relationship.
She was though, in The Cave of Two Lovers she suggests kissing, she blushes after their kiss on the Day of Black Sun, it seems pretty obvious she has feelings for him
@@bilalkhares9337 That wasn't necessarily feelings though, that was embarrassment. Besides, the writers clearly put in at the end that she liked him. But I'm suggesting that it would have been better for the story if they hadn't written that in, hadn't forced a romantic relationship between friends. This show always covered mature topics, imagine how amazing it would have been to have a conversation about dealing with someone rejecting your feelings.
@@AhavaMath @MathShinobi we get subtle hints throughout the series, her suggestion of kissing definitely indicated she liked him. In The Day of Black Sun she smiles and blushes after Aang kisses her abd this was clearly showing she liked him. If he gave her up to let go of attachments that might be ok but any other endgame would be such a betrayal of what they had built up throughout the show.
@@AhavaMath You can misinterpret everything if you want to but then you can't interpret every meaningful moment between Zuko and Katara as romantic without having a double standard. For every reason to ship Zurara there are multiple to ship Kataang. Zutara have a moment in the Cave, Kataang hace a bigger moment in a cave, Zuko saves Katara once, Aang saves her repeatedly etc etc
@@bilalkhares9337 As for Katara's feelings for Aang, I think I have already addressed those, so I'm not going to discuss that here. As for Katara's feelings for Zuko, where do I talk about their romance in the show? I say that I wish that they had put in hints for them having a relationship after the show (but nothing explicit). In other words, I wanted Katara to end up alone at the end of the show. So your comment makes no sense. You must have meant to wrote it to someone else.
@@REDTHURSDAYDOG I never saw Aang get jealous at them interact, in the ember island players, he was just asking if she didn't have feelings for him. But maybe I have forgotten, could u remind if something like that really happened?
not only that, but Zuko took a lightning bolt for her like a badass, why wouldn't a woman love a man willing to take a hit of that level purely for her sake and safety?!
@@ayoogunsakin9223 most male to female couples of that level of understanding and willingness to die for one another typically leads to marriage, I speak from experience involving the people around me.
@@samdude1526 they broke up and were separated for x amount of time (months). I will not put it past close friends to willingly take a hit of this magnitude for their friend, but typically and understandably speaking an individual would not take a hit of such magnitude for the complete opposite if there wasn't more to it then just friendship, one could argue they see this person of complete opposite as family for them to take a hit like this. And I would think that when males and females think each other as family, more than just siblings, it is where romance happens. Arguably, Zuko can be said to see Katara as more like family than his actual family, hence his willingness to take hit like that, and even she herself the same.
I agree with everything you said. Especially the part about Katara saying she’s confused in Ember Island Players and then apparently not being confused anymore at the end of the series a couple of episodes later without us seeing any indication as to why. I think that’s why I never liked her getting with Aang even though I supported the relationship in the earlier seasons. After Katara reacts neutrally at best to the idea of being in a relationship with Aang, there’s little to no indication at the end of the show that Katara likes Aang in a romantic way and that’s always bothered me.
You saying there was literally no indication of her having feelings for Aang is literally the same thing you could say for Zuko. And there have been indications. Like when she blushes around him, or gets jealous of the attention he gives to other girls, or the dance scene in the fire nation school episode, the pecks and kisses she either gives him or they share together. Then they have actual moments where they talk about how they feel about each other. The signs were all there. Katara most likely didn’t take that much an offense to Aang kissing her if they ended up not addressing it in the show, which is also most likely why they didn’t.
Yh it's not like their kiss in the cave or one the day of black sun is anything to go by lol. She was confused because she was too worried about Aang and the world to think about her feelings for Aang
I agree with everything you say. It also would have been good character development for Aang to have to let his feelings for Katara go. Sacrifice and revelations are very important parts of the whole "hero's journey", but Aang never really had that and pretty much had everything handed to him and got everything he wanted.
I don't ship zutara but yeah, kataang just involves the childish idealizations of a 12 year old boy projected onto katara all the while her being extremely motherly. Also, I never realized just how toxic the fandom can be, especially, u guessed it, kataangers. That one youtuber never shuts up abt kataang's popularity. I kinda had to use the votes that you found in the polls over the years to support that zutara is more popular. It's so annoying having to deal with these people. Im probably going to be an anti-shipper just to not get attacked idk.
@@heisenberg1681 Nah, it's never good to be an anti-shipper unless you legit don't like the ship. Kataang isn't bad, it's actually a pretty good ship, and but it does have a share of drawbacks (then again, many ships do). And no one's saying that it's not popular, it is, but Zutara is more popular, which is true. Some Kataangers just hate that it is because they wanted Kataang to be #1 after it was canonized, which didn't happen. It's #2 in the series, which is still really good, but Zutara is and has remained #1 since the beginning.
@@ViewerOnline101 I mean, ok, but it is annoying having to deal with these ppl. @@heisenberg1681 I don't think you needed to delete it (your call though), but yeah, it's best to not interact with those people. Everyone else knows the truth anyway.
You made some good points. I learned from Sneezy Reviews that Aang and Katara's relationship was on the rocks and the authors decided its smoochie time. As you pointed out, Aang created some friction between him and Katara throughout the final season. Surprisingly, they never made up. Unlike Zuko, Katara and Aang still have unresolved issues they need to work out.
Yeah it would have been way better if Aang's view of Katara was challenged. It was so obviously one sided and awkward due to their age difference. I know she was his anchor, but it was a childish crush. Zuko has seen every side of Katara and accepts her. He also has more in common with her and understands her in a way Aang never could. I think it would have been way better if Zutara got together at the end instead of Aang and Aang accepted it, letting her go. Maybe in a scene they would've kissed and later held hands and Aang saw it, looked sad, then approved. The last scene should've been him and Zuko's announcement and maybe showed a shot of everyone happy, hinting at the utopian future. Their relationship was so complex, it should have become romantic. Her bond was way stronger with him than her bond with Aang. Aang's too young for her. Mentally and emotionally, he's not insightful like she is.
I don't think Zutara necessarily "should" have happened. It just would have been better if it did happen instead of Zutaang because of the chemistry being there. I would have been fine if they all stayed single except for sokka and suki
I don't know how to feel about it. Because I have the same personality as Aang. I'm adult and my crushes (except one) never look at me as a romantic interest because I'm very playful, childish or carefree. I'm an ENFP like Aang and my actual girlfriend is ISFJ like Katara. Pleople always say that Katara and Aang relationship, feel like a child and his babysitter. something that i hate cuz people said the same about my relationship with my actual girlfriend. hahahahaha
I feel like the only reason why ang and katara ended up together is because the show is called AVATAR. In my opinion zutara is better in every way I do like the friends to lovers thing but it didn't work for katara and ang in my opinion. they should have stayed friends and let zutara happen. they just had so much chemistry, they made sense and would be a power couple. I feel like Katara kinda acted like a mother towards Ang, she is always there for him as a friend. With Zuko I think Katara would have been more independent and happier. Zuko and Katara would make one another learn more about who they really are. It would give them development and happiness. Katara and Ang should have stayed friends, they didn't have romantic chemistry and when the show tried to show they had it felt forced. they wouldn't see each other as a partner but Ang would see her as a angel and she would feel like she had to always take care of him, protect him making her seem more like a mother. Their relationship would be based on Ang and not the two being equal. Katara would probably later start to feel stuck and lose her independence. he looks up to her and only sees her as this perfect woman in his mind and not see her as who she really is. she wouldn't see him as a romantic partner but more as someone she needs to take care of. Honestly if it weren't for kataang Avatar would probably be my favorite show ever.
FINALLY a person who looks at this with a subjective view, who truly analyzes their relationship for what it is, and fully discusses the issues with Kataang
As it was so beautifully said in a fanfic whose name I don't remember: "After 100 years I was the first thing he saw when he came out of the ice and imprinted on me like a baby turtleduck on it's mother." Kataang was kinda safe from the start, eventhough I hoped for a different end, but when we got the bonding moments with Zuko, Zutara also became a valid option, which I personally can get behind better. Aang is 12. He has a crush. And as someone who has been a 14 year old girl at some point, I just couldn't get behind Kataang. And seeing what happend to her in canon after the series to her, Zutara is just a fun way to explore... more. Also we've seen Jet. We know whaat Katara's type looks like
We might have some chance of Zutara happening in the live action remake series but if that’s the case they’re going to have to do some amazing writing and hire amazing writers. Either way I wouldn’t mind really I like Zutara and Kataang
I like Zutara a lot and I've grown to like Azulaang. I think that sinse Zutara is more mature than Kataang. Bryke eliminated that ship because they were paranoid they may come off as too mature for the young audience. That is until the comicon antizutara/antiazulaang picture show by Bryke. That show was worse then then Shamaylan's atla film.
To be honest, I have always felt like Bryke paired Zuko and Katara with their own favorite characters (Mai and Aang, respectively) just because... they liked it that way. It was a conscious decision from their part to just do what they wanted instead of following the direction the script had taken.
Okay so for the shipping. First, points in favour of Zutara: 1) It might have been cool if Aang had given up Katara in order to let go of his attachments 2) They bond at the end of season 2 3) They both lost their mothers (for Zuko it's more complicated) 4) Katara is somewhat motherly to Aang earlier in the show 5) Zuko being in a relationship shows he is attractive despite having a burn on his face (although this was achieved with Mai anyway) 6) Hero gets the girl is a common trope abd while I don't mind it some consider it cliche. 7) Zuko takes lightning for Katara 8) The arc of Katara forgiving Zuko 9) SPOILER: In LOK we get the impression Katara did most of the parenting (more than her fair share) I haven't used the fire & water argument because some would call it cliche (in general I am fine with it) Now points for Kataang 1) While Aang always liked Katara, their relationship develop gradually and it was pretty clear she had feelings for him in the Cave of Two Lovers. 2) Katara is the only person who can calm Aang in the Avatar state and he often enters it to protect her 3) They definitely love each other and while Katara's feelings develop from friendships to genuine romantic love Aangs crush and loving friendship converge into romantic love. 4) Aang lost all his people and feels guilty so he can relate to Katara 5) Aang lost his people so it makes sense that Katara is the person he loved most and his greatest attachment to the world 6) While Katara is motherly to Aang their relationship changes a lot, Aang is often peace keeper between Katara and Toph in books 2 & 3 and from the day of black sun Aang is generally the leader of the group 7) I would have preferred the final Agni Kai not to have involvement Katara as Zuko would have defeated Azula and Katara would have been more useful elsewhere, instead she has to be an almost helpless victim for Zuko to save her 8) Zuko saving someone he DOESN'T have romantic feelings for says more about his character 9) Katara forgiving Zuko was just that, forgiveness doesn't always lead to romance 10) Represenation: Aang us younger and shorter than Katara which isn't common to see but this bias is probably why we see people say they find it strange 11) In The Southern Raiders Aang advices Katara not to take revenge which is good advice for her showing his wisdom and balancing Katara's firey personality 12) While Zuko and Katara are opposite in some ways they share negative traits like being hot headed, Aang balances that well 13) Katara doing most of the parenting is natural with the Avatar as her husband and it would probably have been the same with firelord Zuko 14) Aang teaches Katara how to actually have fun 15) While I am partial to Aang removing all Earthly ties he would need to have kids to prevent the extinction of the air nomads 16) Zuko betrays Katara in an interesting twist that shows us growth and redemption isn't always linear which I love but given this it would probably have taken me than a season to get to relationship stage. 18) Katara uses her special water to heal Aang not Zuko, this seems symbolic to me. 19) Katara believes in the Avatar before meeting him, then insists on helping him after she does meet him 20) Zutara would be the bad boy & good girl cliche which I do find a little annoying 21) Unless Katara and/ or Zuko became much calmer people they would probably have a toxic relationship full of fights 22) Katara always talks about hope and Aang actually brings hope as the Avatar, it's kind of poetic. 23) I actually liked that they aren't immediately together after their kiss on the invasion and how Aang tries to kiss her to 'unconfuse' Katara but it doesn't work. It shows kids that you can't force feelings but when he gives her more space she realizes she loves him. 24) There are a whole bunch of subtle cues for Kataang you can notice if you watch is again. 25) If Katara healed Zuko's scar he never would have accepted it as a part of him 26) While Zuko is a more morally ambiguous Aang's moral compass makes him a rock for Katara 27) They're canon, how much of this great series will you change to make Zutara make sense? 28) Hate to love isn't inherently better than friendship to love and while a love hate relationship can be interesting in reality it's usually not as robust. 29) The issue of Kataang being promises and if it weren't fulfilled it would fee like a betrayal of the story and the characters.I actually love the subtlety of Kataang with her belief in the Avatar in the first intro, her being the first person he see's, she helps him grieve his people, she is the first person to want to help him, he tells her he doesn't want to come between her and her family, he supports her wanting to learn from Paku, she mentions she loves him (altho I don't think evens she knows how exactly) in The Avatar State, she displays feelings for him in The Cave of Two Lovers, he chooses her over the avatar state, they definitely have a spark in 'The Headband', they kiss on The Day of Black Sun and Katara blushes and it seems like they would be together as Aang states in The Ember Island players, when Katara says she's confused he tries to make her like him by kissing her, this isn't malicious but is mistaken the fact that it doesn't work teaches kids you can't force these things and then finally when he gives her a bit more space she realises she loves him. In conclusion I think Kataang just makes far more sense, if they went down the road of Aang having to give up attachments I wouldn't have minded who Katara ended up with but she would have had to get with them after Aang made that decision otherwise it would feel wrong and it's unlikely that there would have been enough time. If Zutara had happened it would have had to be after Aang choosing to give Katara up and I doubt there would be enough time to develop the relationship, honestly though I wouldn't mind this storyline but Zuko and Katara wouldn't have been any better than any other random ship. Honestly, for every reason I can think of to ship Zutara I can think of at least 3 for Kataang. Overall, it just makes far more sense.
Great video. Even though I've only seen one episode, I had a feeling this would be the better ship. Rats, now I ship it even though I know it won't happen. Well, there's always fan made content.
I believe that they just had to make Aang and Katara end up together because it's a child show, he's the protagonist and every child show protagonist has a love interest/partner. If it was a "normal", adult show, Zuko and Katara would have most likely been a couple. 💔 #TeamZutara
I don’t hate of zutara shippers, I respect all you shippers but you guys are acting like aang never saved Katara before or made himself a distraction to keep her safe from Azula and Zuko. Sure aang is younger than katara, but y’all think a 2 year age difference is way too big. Aang might be goofy when he wants to, but he was always mature enough to be in a younger age relationship with katara. Zuko had 3 interactions with katara and had 5% chemistry which you guys think is a lot. But ever since season 1, aang and katara has been building there chemistry ever since. Katara is always wants to be the person to check on aang when he is down. Plus katara doesn’t treat aang like a little brother. Katara and aang blushes at each other and gives hugs and defend each other. Sokka hasnt been treated like Aang from katara like he should be as the sibling. At the start of the show, everyone knew katara and aang was gonna end up together. I understand people like Zuko because of his looks better than aang, but aang taught and shows more than looks. Zuko planned to kill the man with katara who killed katara’s mother. But aang was the person who told katara to not sought revenge. You guys, zuko and katara isn’t even an argument. Ever since the last scene of the series, y’all act like mai just died or disappeared. I’m just trying to tell the truth, not hate.
there is no evidence suggesting he is in any way mature. there is no way to spin it like that. ever since he met her, he constantly idealized her and saw her as the object of attraction and as the girl he gets in the end. aang did not see her as a separate person with complex feelings about the world and about herself. there is evidence from the show suggesting he comes off as immature for katara. and i do not hate aang, he is 12 and i think he is a spectacular character. but i felt that his idealization to her suggests that he should not be in a romantic relationship in general not just with katara. however, zuko helped her confront her dark side and help realize herself as a character. i would not want for them to get together in the end though. that would be rushed and forced.
@@varuniyer7445 it may sound harsh but aang treats katara like a prize and wants to win her before zuko or anyone else does. plus, i dont know if you've noticed but aang was never jealous of haru or jet, but when katara and zuko went on the mission together he was jealous af which means that something would have happened between them and that's more proof zutara should've been canon. i'm so sick of team kataang attacking us for our own opinions.
@@jennyisbae9523 You CAN ship the couple you want, whether they are canon or not. Like I do with Harry and Hermione. But something that I don't do (I do not say that you do) is demand that it be canon, when it is known that it is made canon that will ruin the relationship that the protagonists have. I wish that Harry and Hermione were a couple but I know that this will ruin the beautiful relationship of friendship between Harry and Ron. As things were at ATLA, there was no time to develop "love" between characters who hated each other. It would only complicate the plot unnecessarily. we don't attack us for anything baby
This was an incredibly well worded and in depth analysis that brought up some irrefutable points that I feel could make a kataang shipper change their mind.
I think the only problem is age. Because I'm an adult, and my personality is very similar to Aang's and my girlfriend has a personality similar to Katara's. Our relationship started as friendship. many people say that we look like siblings. But i think it's just how it looks on the outside.
I put together one scene of my book 4 head canon which'll involve Zutara. When Katara learned that Ozai learned to bloodbend and could use it to take a benders bending away. she became terrified. But Katara transfers her grudge from Yon Rha to Ozai, since it's revealed that Ozai's the one who sent the southern raiders to the south pole and kill the last southern waterbender. Her hate for him enhances after Ozai taunts Katara about how he knew that the waterbender was a young girl but he told the southern raiders that it was an adult woman. Katara and Zuko at one point took up there mantels (the painted the lady and the blue spirit) and together fight Ozai but they were overcome and subdued by Ozai's bloodbending. After Ozai used his bloodbending to destroy Zuko's bending, Katara desperately and fearfully pleaded and begged for Ozai to not to take her bending away. But her worst nightmare came true and her bending was gone as well. Ozai picks up Katara's mother's necklace and crushes it to pieces. Ozai then continues to bring down Katara by grinding her self worth into the asphalt and explain to her why she and the rest of the gaang keep failing to stop Ozai. "It is natural for children to dream of a better world and see the world around them as black and white. I see you have become much much more pragmatic and hardened by the difficulties of war but still maintained your positive and compassionate outlook. But do you ever wonder why I'm almost always ten steps ahead of you and your rag tag bunch of misfits even with the avatar among st them. It's because you like the spine to do all that is necessary, You've become extremely reliant on your waterbending, to the point of being helpless without it, Zuko at least took most of his time learning swordsmanship, you childishly fight for outdated ideals and your loathing to the fire-nation is secondary compared to your own self-loathing. Honestly, I pity you, and I pity the fact that your hatred to me is followed by the hatred you put on yourself for failing to save your mother. You knew at a young age that you were special and so did your mother. she was the one who believed you could do extraordinary things and she has always inspired you, that's another thing you and Zuko have in common. and when you saw her burned and dead, you punish yourself for your fear you felt as a child, you constantly call yourself a coward. When you were her amulet, you kept that self-loathing in check right? it inspired you every time you where it and hoped for the day you'd get justice for Kia. I counted on that. your hope, to drive you with purpose, to play a big role in destiny, that is why I sent the southern raiders to kill your mother but kept the reason to myself. When harmonic convergence comes, none of this would even matter. Judgment falls up on you by the end of Fall." Ozai leaves. Zuko and Katara are lying face-first on the ground. Katara is distraught and on how Ozai nearly took everything from her, especially what was essentially a major part of her identity. his words like claws that was constantly scratching deep in her mind. her eyes were constantly watery like of two waterfalls. Zuko reaches his hand out, Katara notices and does the same, the grab and hold on to each others hands for several minutes. Zuko and Katara return back to the gaang, Katara went spiraling down a whirlpool of depression, her positive and hopeful views were all gone. Sokka is worried and tries to bring her optimistic sister back but it never paid off. At one point, she was standing over the edging point of a canyon, Katara attempts to move her foot over the edge but her hand is caught and held by Zuko. She collapses into his arms and cries uncontrollably on his chest. She asks how Zuko does it. How he deals being raised by such a brutal monster and not end up the same way or already dead. Zuko honestly responds about the promise he made to himself on behalf of his uncle and mother, to never give up, to be fearless, to always look for the light even if everything looks grim and advises Katara to promise the same. Katara accepts the promise.
Hmm if you think Aang's character wasn't developed it's true. But the thing is, he was already developed from the beginning. Zuko had to learn the hard way and Aang was taught well by the monks and even then Zuko had a long way to go from there. After the SR Ep, Zuko admits what Aang said from the beginning was right (though the "forgive him" part was kinda dumb) I just think sometimes some people can help you in a way even your romantic partner can't but it doesn't mean that person should be your real love interest. I get why people ships Zutara, it's an interesting pair and would have probably been very beautiful, but the fact is, Katara and Zuko developed a strong friendship. They didn't like each other romantically even though they would look perfect together. Let's say it's really true Katara and Aang don't get each other, it doesn't mean their love was a fake, any type of love can collapse even the perfect of the most perfect. Kataang worked as we saw in Tlok.
Struggle Skywalker Horrible father does not equate to horrible husband. Even though that little rewrite in the conclusions of Aang’s character, is one of the reasons I do not like LoK.
I don't know how to feel about it. Because I have the same personality as Aang. I'm adult and my crushes (except one) never look at me as a romantic interest because I'm very playful, childish or carefree. I'm an ENFP like Aang and my actual girlfriend is ISFJ like Katara. Pleople always say that Katara and Aang relationship, feel like a child and his babysitter. something that i hate cuz people said the same about my relationship with my actual girlfriend. hahahahaha
It's funny the only rebuttals Ka gate keepers have is either "no" or I don't agree Ka is perfect and infallible" but don't counter anything he's brought up. Lol.
"Aang I don't know" "Why don't you know!?!?!?!" "Because we're in the middle of a war, we have other things to worry about this isn't the right time" Aang " when is the right time?" Katara "Aang right now I'm just a little a CONFUSED" Confused means you're not sure/ don't know.
Plus that's still bad writing. We never see what changes her mind from Aang being "just a good friend, a sweet little guy" to a romantic interest. And no the fortune teller thing doesn't count, congrats Aang's a powerful bender but while that may open her eyes to the possibility that's not a reason to actually change her feelings. What does she find attractive about him? What makes her think he'd be a good boyfriend or partner? Aang doesn't really support Katara on her personal issues; the support is almost entirely one-sided from Katara to Aang. Why does she choose him? We're never shown or told. Even weirder, their relationship in the comics and in Korra seems to have been an unpleasant one, with Aang frequently neglecting her (and their kids, once they're around), not just for his duties as Avatar but to show off to others, even other women. Once again, what does she see in him that makes him a qualified romantic partner and stops her from wanting to separate? It makes no sense to me, given how completely nonfunctional they sound.
Not to mention Katara isn't the type to accept neglect and abandonment lying down. She has deep seated abandonment issues from childhood and she isn't afraid to assert what she needs in a relationship. She was _pissed_ at her father and his reasons for leaving were actually understandable. Her relationship with Aang makes no sense for her character.
@@AlashiaTuol I can't stand what they did to her in the comics, they stripped her of all her interesting layers reducing her to literal arm candy. Arm candy who has no agency outside of what Aang thinks, what Aang wants, how Aang is feeling. She sulks in corners, and only jumps into action to announce that Aang is her boyfriend and stop setting him fire. The comic Katara is not the Katara I know. No she is some weird thing that took over Katara living in her brain like a parasite.
Well... Jet's personal betrayal and Zuko's personal betrayal let Katara's interest in bad boys disappear for good. Especially when Zuko's led to Aang's death. Aang promised Katara he wouldn't go into the Avatar state anymore so she wouldn't have to see a monster but he did in ba sing se since it was the only way to save her life and he was killed, Aang died trying to protect Katara. Right after he wakes up a few weeks later, Katara compliments him on his hair and she related Aang's running off to what her dad did. She shows interest In him in the Headband and when Katara had this crazy idea of becoming the painted lady, he doesn't get angry and helps her right away. To me, Katara began to show interest In this 12yr old kid Bcos unlike the big bad boys whom easily let's her drop her guards are a bunch of assholes who are confused in life and doesn't even know what they want. Unlike them, this 12yr old knew what he wanted from the beginning, this kid would actually die for her and to Katara that was enough. Katara is not blind, she's always known Aang liked her and I think she liked him after he went into the comma, it's why she threatened Zuko's life after he joined them, she still thought well.... Zuko was still confused and didn't know what he wanted, and this Time she didn't want his confusion ending Aang permanently, he might have been 13 by then but she knew Aang always knew what he wanted. Also, In the "desert" Katara was in no place to hold Aang's hand to calm him down as she actually didn't know what he really felt, in the 3rd ep of book 1, after Aang found out about the genocide of his people, he tells Appa and Momo that the 3 of them are all that's left of their home and should stick together no matter what. It's why Aang for the first time killed, after Appa was stolen, he was loosing his mind and just like that a buzzard wasp takes Momo, he still kills that wasp even after he saved Momo. He finally triggered the Avatar state after he found out what the sandbenders did, I honestly thought he'd have pushed Katara off him but he stopped, he listened to her silence. It's what Aang expected Katara to do when she wanted revenge just like how he wanted revenge on the sandbenders but even when she was out of place to stop him, he listened. Katara really needed closure and so at the end, Aang tells her he's not gonna stop her and that she needs to confront this man, but he hopes she'll not let his darkness blow out her light, and that she forgives him. Eeh, the forgive him part was honestly kinda ridiculous to me too but Katara only stopped Bcos of all the advice Aang gave her while Zuko didn't even utter a word when she almost killed him. Oh and Zuko chose Katara to help him fight Azula Bcos he saw her bloodbend, it's when he knew she was dangerous ASF.

@@no.5179 As a Multi-Shipper, I believe its better to say that several of his points have merits but some of them are down playing the quality of the ZK scenes and some KA points are misinterpretations on the dynamics of Zuko and Katara.
I don't think the idea behind this is that Aang has to be alone because he would always have the gang and they told him that time and time again even when Aang hid the map to where Hokoda was from Sokka and Katara they knew they had to be there for him and went to find him
A relationship between Sokka and Toph would have made more sense than Sokka and Suki. As they would have had more time together and more things in common with each other.
The thing is though, Katara only gave Zuko a chance when he offered her something that she wanted. She would never have given him a chance otherwise because of all the bad things he'd done. Yes, Aang did plenty of stupid things and in a way did see Katara as an object, but whenever Aang did something stupid without thinking he immediately regretted it. He was young and dumb. He was really new to interaction with girls, because boys and girls were raised separately in Air Nomad culture. But he grew to mature. And Zuko wasn't exactly any smarter at that age. When he was trying to win a girl (Mai) he didn't do the best job at that. If Zuko had been trying to get Katara the same way Aang was, he would definitely had made some dumb mistakes too. And Zuko didn't understand Katara any more than Aang did. Aang lost everyone he ever knew and loved. He felt responsible for their death. Katara lost someone she loved very much and felt responsible for her mom's death. Aang understood that pain and guilt. He tried to stop Katara when she went to face the man, but in the end, let her go. He knew her better than she knew herself. Aang knew Katara wouldn't kill him. And the most important part that this video is ignoring: he realized that she did in fact need to face the man. I do totally agree that having Aang be rejected would have been great character development, but I still think Katara should have ended up with him. I would have loved to see Aang realize and accept the fact that Katara wasn't into him. Not move on, just accept. Then there should've been a moment where Katara was watching Aang or talking to him or something and just have a sudden realization that she was in love with him. Then at the end when it was all over, Katara should've kissed Aang first. Then Aang would look surprised, confused, then kiss her back. So yeah, there's my argument. And yes, I am team Kataang.
@@samdude1526 Actually, the guy that played Zuko even thought that Zutara was gonna be a thing. I believe that is solid proof because HE WAS PART OF THE MAKING OF THE SHOW. He even had a script and could see what was going to happen, so the writers considered Zutara
@@samdude1526 Also, in the episode where Aang goes to talk to the guru, Aang finds out that he needs to let go of Katara. Obviously he cant do that right then. However if Aang wants to truly unlock his last chuckra then he needs to let go. Also, in the episode with the fortune teller, she gets the fortune that she will marry a powerful bender. Sure Sokka points out that Aang is a powerful bender but so is Zuko. Fire is a strong and dangerous element but Zuko has learned to control it. True he hasn't always made the best decisions but he was always innocent. Even when he was required to fight his father in the Agni Ky, he refused to use his dangerous powers agents his father so he cares about people because even though his father wanted to kill him, he didn't want to hurt him. Katara is very similar because she doesn't want to kill people or really hurt them. In the episode blood bender she refused to blood bend because it hurts them. The only reason she fights people is because its self defense. She even offered to try and heal Zukos scar when they were imprisoned together. This means that they have similar personality traits and were ment to be together. Aang needs to let go of Katara to fulfill his destiny and Zutara was ment to happen because of how similar they are. Aang only has Katara going for him and he needs to be able to go for something else
You don't understand the show really 😂 Mike himself say prefer zutara but kataang makse more sense If someone dissagree We can discuss it discord kataang is much better

i always thought this shop was cool but in my opinion i didn’t make sense, love this analysis and your points you made up but from the start kataang seemed to be endgame from the start.
I think the only problem is age. Because I'm an adult, and my personality is very similar to Aang's and my girlfriend has a personality similar to Katara's. We love each other very much and we believe that our relationship is genuine and it all started as friendship.
Then y’all forget mai and how much her and sumo have done for each other y’all only really talk about katara in the relationship with auto but never actually talked about zuko and how he felt for mai
kiss-my-axe. Biss whatever interactions zuko had with mai were scenes in which they constantly argued and they never really grew to understand each other. Mais emotional detachments are not a bad thing, its part of her character, but it is what makes their relationship not that compatible. Zuko needs someone who can understand him as a person and accept him for who he is. Mai does not understand zuko as well as katara does and the bond zuko and katara had was one based off of empathy, trust, and understanding. The bond zuko and mai had was one based off of a silly childhood crush. They barely had a relationship before zuko was banished.
AvatarLover101 okay so your basically saying that sang and katara shouldn't be with each other the reason why mai and zuko argued wasn't beaches eif that it was beacyase zuko was angry at himself katara only knew zuko after he let go of rage after the series in the comics mail and zuko ended up getting married an having a child I don't think katara and zukonrekationship would have been healthy either just saying seeing how much she hated him and had a grudge things wouldn't have ended well let's not forget katara has feelings for aang and had built a healthy relationship throughout the show meanwhile katara had hated zuko throughout the show until his redemtion arrc they barely actually even built a relationship and meanwhile katara and aang had actually built a relationship built so much not just one trust friendship bond and how much she had gone through for aang that's what love is not just a few heartfelt I relate moments and all of a sudden they deserve each other we have to be realistic here
kiss-my-axe. Biss the only justification u r going for here is katara initially hated zuko, so they cannot develop a romantic relationship. But its ur opinion so i cannot change that. Anyways, have a nice day.
AvatarLover101 am saying the relationship between Aang and katara was built for so many episodes and seasons end everything katara risked for aang and how much they trusted and loved each other but yet people ignore it and go for a ship of two characters that did not actually build a strong relationship ugh there's literally so much....li could but am lazy
kiss-my-axe. Biss they had some buildup just not as much as kataang. I acknowledge the build aang and katara had but im just sayin that the buildup they had involved aangs idealization towards her and kataras motherly affections, rather than romantic affections.
@@stephylynnpatch im not gate keeping. im just stating a general fact. it is confirmed time and time over that they are together. shipping zutara is an insult to the show let alone, fandom.
@@mitskimitskii2868 no it's not an "insult" when they meaning show runners and Bryke allowed ship baited so hard. It is gate keeping to say your insulting so and so and "no.❤️" You can't ship shit this. 😂 You're gate keeping
I can't agree with the points you made in the video on Zuko, Aang, or Katara, but at the end of the day, this is a subjective personal matter, and if you find fulfillment in this pairing, more power to you.
*Zuko bribes her into telling him where the avatar is* *Katara threatens Zuko saying she will kill him if he hurts aang* Zutara Shippers: *Zutara is the best ship ever and they have chemistry they should be together!!!!!* Me-Every Zutara shipper are blind
Zuko’s character ark is about redemption, and along the way, Zuko hurts the ones he loves. We see him treat his Uncle Iroh, the one character that loves Zuko unconditionally, as if he were useless in more than one scene. His relationship with Mai is used to show that he is not ready to love anyone. We see him fight with her merely for talking to someone else, and he leaves her without saying anything to her face; like a coward. Zuko tells Aang to kill his own father, and is willing to challenge his own sister to an Agni Kai with the intent to kill her. The episode, “The Southern Raiders” is meant for Katara to finally trust Zuko, but we also see how toxic he is for her. In the episode, Katara is willing to blood-bend and she almost kills the captain. Zuko is fine with all of this. It would have scarred Katara for life. Do you thing she would be able to this with Aang? She's completely out of character. He doesn't understand Katara at all. In the Agni Kai with Azula, he taunts her to shoot lightning at him, intending to kill her. But instead, she shoots at Katara, allowing Zuko to achieve redemption by putting someone else’s life before his own. In Aang’s fight with Ozai, and Katara’s fights with Azula, they both end their fights without killing them. They both save a member of Zuko’s family in the process; a man who once hunted them down. This shows us why Aang and Katara are perfect for each other. Zuko puts no thought into saving his own family. He is not mentally stable to be in a relationship with anyone, even at the end of the series.
I have come a long way to understanding the series since I wrote this comment. I wrote a lot on the subject on an internet friend's video here: ua-cam.com/video/i72TCleZIlU/v-deo.html On the subject of Zuko, I will copy paste an excerpt here: The show holds the philosophy that a child need both parents to grow up properly. I agree with this wholeheartedly. In the very beginning, while Katara's necklace is still her mother's, Aang does need her help to grow. Aang, being God, is his own father, like how Katara becomes her own mother. When a character doesn't have both parents, they only grow in size not in mind. Sokka lost has mom at 9. Zuko lost his mom at 7 and so on. In the episode "Zuko Alone," we see what Zuko, Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee really look like. Zuko also meets a 7 year-old kid named Lee, like how he calls himself Lee when in the Earth Kingdom. "Lee" refers to a child pretending to be an adult. Sokka master says, "you should pick a better Fire Nation cover name. Try Lee. There's a million Lees." In the beginning of Book 2, Aang becomes a father figure. This is how he should be seen for the rest of the series. Aang and Katara help everyone around to grow. Zuko is with a parental figure the WHOLE SERIES; he is with his uncle, his father (gag), the couple in "Zuko Alone," or Aang and Katara. Saving Katara does complete his redemption, because he knows he can save his real mother (poor Zuko, he just wants a mother's love). Even Sokka can be seen as an adult after he takes lead during The Invasion.
I love your point about how Zuko turned Team Avatar only after confronting his own darkness and gave that same chance to Katara.
SirMarshalHaig I completely agree. It was also the 2nd time I shipped her and Zuko, only I shipped them hard.
Thats nice but this isnt airbender preschool its the real world 😂😂😂😂
Im jkin
Shoot i forgot which episode, but when zuko gets in front of the lightning to save katara, is another memorable moment. Added on top of the ones shown, in this video. He saved her and almost died, you don't just take a hit for anyone.
The relationship between Katarra and Zuko is stronger than the relationship bond between katarra and Aang
But I guess we will just have to agree to disagree as we will never see it the same way 😂
The ship I sunk with. Forever Zutara 😭
jada same!
Same forever ♾
Amen to that!
I am really happy to see that I am not the only Zutara fan left after all these years!!! I don't care about canon: I just skip the last scene of ATLA everytime, will never watch LOK or read the comics and then Kataang doesn't exist haha Zutara Forever! And just the fact that after all these years so many people are still shipping Zutara so much just proves that the creators of the show made a huge mistake with Kataang! We should sue!
More people ship Zutara than the other even the actors themselves do and with it happened מילאגרו אוליבה נחמיאס
It's a relationship lacking under various aspects and I seriously hope the live-action improves it (a part of me still hopes to have Zutara at least there, but I recognize that's unlikely to happen).
sjalal there’s a petition on change.org if you want to petition to have it canon in the live action. It’s the first petition when you search “Zutara”

NO
Zutara is so amazing thematically and I really liked your analysis.
The PatriAgent -ok lets just forget that Zukos girlfriend (Mai) doesn’t exist
The PatriAgent the creators didn’t have aang and katara be together for no reason pls tell me one romantic scene katara and Zuko had
@@bilalkhares9337 As for Katara's feelings for Aang, I think I have already addressed those, so I'm not going to discuss that here. not only that, but Zuko took a lightning bolt for her like a badass, why wouldn't a woman love a man willing to take a hit of that level purely for her sake and safety?!
It's not like it was a romantic gesture... I'm sure there are plenty of friends that would take a bullet for one another.
@@ayoogunsakin9223 yh I would do it to save my friend
But if Aang did that for Katara you guys would have been like “that’s true love” or “he really loves her” but with Zuko it’s a different story
Katara most likely didn’t take that much an offense to Aang kissing her if they ended up not addressing it in the show, which is also most likely why they didn’t.
we were only really shown Aangs perspective on a potential relationship but not kataras so her feelings were pretty unclear
@@heisenberg1681
Nah, it's never good to be an anti-shipper unless you legit don't like the ship. It's #2 in the series, which is still really good, but Zutara is and has remained #1 since the beginning.

im still mad they didnt end up together
You made some good points. I learned from Sneezy Reviews that Aang and Katara's relationship was on the rocks and the authors decided its smoochie time. As you pointed out, Aang created some friction between him and Katara throughout the final season. Surprisingly, they never made up. Unlike Zuko, Katara and Aang still have unresolved issues they need to work out.
Aw, Zutara. I always ship Zutara.
What you wrote is precisely what I think.
I don't think Zutara necessarily "should" have happened. It just would have been better if it did happen instead of Zutaang because of the chemistry being there. I would have been fine if they all stayed single except for sokka and suki
I agree .... zuko and katara really makes sense idk why people dont see it :(
I don't know how to feel about it.
Because I have the same personality as Aang. I'm adult and my crushes (except one) never look at me as a romantic interest because I'm very playful, childish or carefree.
I'm an ENFP like Aang and my actual girlfriend is ISFJ like Katara.
Pleople always say that Katara and Aang relationship, feel like a child and his babysitter. something that i hate cuz people said the same about my relationship with my actual girlfriend. hahahahaha
@@johnniegee1959 Because he is.....
had too much mental issues.
I don't think he's trying to change things, we accept what happened. This is just an analysis of the shows subtext and thematic themes
As it was so beautifully said in a fanfic whose name I don't remember: "After 100 years I was the first thing he saw when he came out of the ice and imprinted on me like a baby turtleduck on it's mother."
Kataang was kinda safe from the start, eventhough I hoped for a different end, but when we got the bonding moments with Zuko, Zutara also became a valid option, which I personally can get behind better. Aang is 12. He has a crush. And as someone who has been a 14 year old girl at some point, I just couldn't get behind Kataang.
And seeing what happend to her in canon after the series to her, Zutara is just a fun way to explore... more.
Also we've seen Jet. We know whaat Katara's type looks like
I feel the same way.... i know its silly to be sad because zuko and katara is not together but i feel they make more sense to be together
That's not the reason
To be honest, I have always felt like Bryke paired Zuko and Katara with their own favorite characters (Mai and Aang, respectively) just because... they liked it that way. It was a conscious decision from their part to just do what they wanted instead of following the direction the script had taken.
Okay so for the shipping. First, points in favour of Zutara:
1) It might have been cool if Aang had given up Katara in order to let go of his attachments
2) They bond at the end of season 2
3) They both lost their mothers (for Zuko it's more complicated)
4) Katara is somewhat motherly to Aang earlier in the show
5) Zuko being in a relationship shows he is attractive despite having a burn on his face (although this was achieved with Mai anyway)
6) Hero gets the girl is a common trope abd while I don't mind it some consider it cliche.
7) Zuko takes lightning for Katara
8) The arc of Katara forgiving Zuko
9) SPOILER: In LOK we get the impression Katara did most of the parenting (more than her fair share)
I haven't used the fire & water argument because some would call it cliche (in general I am fine with it)
Now points for Kataang
1) While Aang always liked Katara, their relationship develop gradually and it was pretty clear she had feelings for him in the Cave of Two Lovers.
2) Katara is the only person who can calm Aang in the Avatar state and he often enters it to protect her
3) They definitely love each other and while Katara's feelings develop from friendships to genuine romantic love Aangs crush and loving friendship converge into romantic love.
4) Aang lost all his people and feels guilty so he can relate to Katara
5) Aang lost his people so it makes sense that Katara is the person he loved most and his greatest attachment to the world
6) While Katara is motherly to Aang their relationship changes a lot, Aang is often peace keeper between Katara and Toph in books 2 & 3 and from the day of black sun Aang is generally the leader of the group
7) I would have preferred the final Agni Kai not to have involvement Katara as Zuko would have defeated Azula and Katara would have been more useful elsewhere, instead she has to be an almost helpless victim for Zuko to save her
8) Zuko saving someone he DOESN'T have romantic feelings for says more about his character
9) Katara forgiving Zuko was just that, forgiveness doesn't always lead to romance
10) Represenation: Aang us younger and shorter than Katara which isn't common to see
but this bias is probably why we see people say they find it strange
11) In The Southern Raiders Aang advices Katara not to take revenge which is good advice for her showing his wisdom and balancing Katara's firey personality
12) While Zuko and Katara are opposite in some ways they share negative traits like being hot headed, Aang balances that well
13) Katara doing most of the parenting is natural with the Avatar as her husband and it would probably have been the same with firelord Zuko
14) Aang teaches Katara how to actually have fun
15) While I am partial to Aang removing all Earthly ties he would need to have kids to prevent the extinction of the air nomads
16) Zuko betrays Katara in an interesting twist that shows us growth and redemption isn't always linear which I love but given this it would probably have taken me than a season to get to relationship stage.
18) Katara uses her special water to heal Aang not Zuko, this seems symbolic to me.
19) Katara believes in the Avatar before meeting him, then insists on helping him after she does meet him
20) Zutara would be the bad boy & good girl cliche which I do find a little annoying
21) Unless Katara and/ or Zuko became much calmer people they would probably have a toxic relationship full of fights
22) Katara always talks about hope and Aang actually brings hope as the Avatar, it's kind of poetic.
25) If Katara healed Zuko's scar he never would have accepted it as a part of him
26) While Zuko is a more morally ambiguous Aang's moral compass makes him a rock for Katara
27) They're canon, how much of this great series will you change to make Zutara make sense?

I believe that they just had to make Aang and Katara end up together because it's a child show, he's the protagonist and every child show protagonist has a love interest/partner. If it was a "normal", adult show, Zuko and Katara would have most likely been a couple. 💔

Great analysis man. Really well thought out. I agree
This was an incredibly well worded and in depth analysis that brought up some irrefutable points that I feel could make a kataang shipper change their mind.
I'm a multishipper, so my mind isn't changed
Katara accepts the promise.
i cant read your book
How come in some scenes zuko's eye burn is on the other eye?
Flipped the scenes during editing. Happens often. Probably to avoid copyright
"THE SCAR'S NOT ON THE WRONG SIDE!!!"
You should be a marriage counselor lol.
Hmm if you think Aang's character wasn't developed it's true. But the thing is, he was already developed from the beginning. Zuko had to learn the hard way and Aang was taught well by the monks and even then Zuko had a long way to go from there. After the SR Ep, Zuko admits what Aang said from the beginning was right (though the "forgive him" part was kinda dumb)
I just think sometimes some people can help you in a way even your romantic partner can't but it doesn't mean that person should be your real love interest.
Tell that to Aang's kids who had a very tense/semi-damaging relationship with him. He was a horrible father.
Struggle Skywalker Horrible father does not equate to horrible husband. Even though that little rewrite in the conclusions of Aang’s character, is one of the reasons I do not like LoK.

Great video
#ZutaraForever
Katara said it wasn’t the right TIME in the ember island episode not she didn’t know how she felt about aang
"Aang I don't know"
"Why don't you know!?!?!?!"
"Because we're in the middle of a war, we have other things to worry about this isn't the right time"
Aang " when is the right time?"
Katara "Aang right now I'm just a little a CONFUSED"
Confused means you're not sure/ don't know.
Great analysis!
0:23 You have a point, but they’re working on it in more recent titles.
(Plus, OoT Zelda is admittedly a lot more interesting as an adult)
25) If Katara healed Zuko's scar he never would have accepted it as a part of him
26) While Zuko is a more morally ambiguous Aang's moral compass makes him a rock for Katara
27) They're canon, how much of this great series will you change to make Zutara make sense?

Sure let's make the Avatar single. Let's make Aang, by himself, while he does his job as the Avatar
I don't think the idea behind this is that Aang has to be alone because he would always have the gang and they told him that time and time again even when Aang hid the map to where Hokoda was from Sokka and Katara they knew they had to be there for him and went to find him

@@blueyfn6048 Mai and Zuko proved to be a relationship that didn't last even in canon
question
why
Yeah, why. Why are you here?
Let me just say smth: Zukka should be canon
A relationship between Sokka and Toph would have made more sense than Sokka and Suki. As they would have had more time together and more things in common with each other.
Sokka is a lot older than Toph tho? Toph is just a kid
@@captainrexx2491 Yeah I don't ship them either tbh haha
TwentyOneFrens sokka is only four years older it would be more suitable for them in their twenties
The Gaming Koopa 3000 katara is 14/15
Toph obviously had a crush on Sokka but Sokka never liked Toph.

ZUTARA IS TRASH KATAANG IS BETTER KATAANG IS PERFECT
talk about kataang on kataang videos lol
Kataang is the furthest thing from perfect, but go off.
Zuko needs somebody who can accept his life, who can accept his socially awkward side. I think jin will be the one for him.
I have come a long way to understanding the series since I wrote this comment. I wrote a lot on the subject on an internet friend's video here:
ua-cam.com/video/i72TCleZIlU/v-deo.html
On the subject of Zuko, I will copy paste an excerpt here:
The show holds the philosophy that a child need both parents to grow up properly. Try Lee. There's a million Lees."
In the beginning of Book 2, Aang becomes a father figure.
