Loved this scene so much, especially when Dani starts speaking Swedish out of nowhere, but really isn't, it's just jibberish, and they're just giggling and "we understand each other!" LOVED. Must've been a hell if a trip! Was such a cute and sweet moment in a very darkly themed story.
@@kaismessiahbaby755 she was enjoying it, but it was also stressful because she was tripping. at one point she bumps into a random person in the dance who I'm pretty sure she sees as her dead sister. that moment catches her off guard & she almost seems like she might fall into a panic attack but recovers.
Same! Or just visuals from the film are just in my brain now (granted I have seen it like 5 times haha). Also I'm responsible for most of my friend group watching it, I kept recommending it to them all incessently, kinda like how the Harga get people to come to them ;)
While the music is kind of eerie, it is traditional Swedish/Nordic folk music. But it definitely adds to the scene and the moods of the girls against the music adds another interesting layer.
This film is such a treat for the heart. The cry circle formed around Dani was so comforting. If they didn't commit murder this would be such a beautiful community.
I thought the cry circle was extremely claustrophobic and scary. Maybe being in Dani's shoes and being totally broken, it might feel different, but as a viewer it felt really anxiety inducing, with their hands all over her and whatnot.
@@the_angry_empath yea I grew up with a ton of older sisters and now that they're all grown up and moved out it was really comforting to see that part. I just wanna have a bunch of girls flock around me and snuggle me till my tears stop lol. I totally get why other people would feel creeped out by it tho
i love it so much, its so eerie but so beautiful at the same time. it gives that feeling that somethings... off, but in such a well orchestrated way :0
This scene! Because of how weird the previous rituals where i seriously thought she was going dancer herself to death! Great movie that flips my expectations!
This scene/music everything is so mesmerizing/enchanting and it provides a moment of almost euphoric transcendence in the midst of horrific reality of what has been and is to come. Midsommar is amazing !!!
holy shit! listening to this with headphones makes it so much better! You can feel like you're in Dani's skin spinning to the music, as it changes from one ear to the other.
Absolutely! I love how this movie was clearly inspired by the Wicker Man but wasn't trying to become known because of it or as the "second coming" of it. It was a stricking love letter to the Wicker Man without stealing from it.
Yeah, until you end up living to the age of 72. Just knowing my days are literally numbered would freak me out. I mean, what if all those cultists who died at that age potentially had a lot more life left in them? I would try to "Get the heck out of Dodge", as it were, even if I had a 99% chance of failing in my attempt. Plus, their way of living gave me the creeps enough in the film, so imagine living within that kind of society? Not to mention, they're cannibals. *shudder* I know I'm thinking too much into it, but people like this have existed/exist in real life, and it disturbs me... as I'm sure it does a lot of people who've seen this film.
The tone that woman yells "stop" in is a little frightening. As if she's about to drag some girl from the dance and accuse her of some wrongdoing she noticed.
I remember watching the movie seeing a couple people with nyckelharpa or maybe hurdy gurdys, both very medieval and very Swedish so it would make sense. as for who played it I have no idea!
@@woodytuttle8777 yes it might be but they sound like independent strings and the way they articulate between notes sounds more like hand articulated, but I am not sure Do we have to ask Ari Aster what instruments are and who played them ? such a nice scene.

Wait, is she?! I thought it was Swedish! that makes the scene even better!!
Yup, It's gibberish, as far as I can tell. It often happens on psychedelic trips.
I don't know if I would call it sweet they're just manipulating Dani.
Such a simple scene but you felt the stress for the protagonist. Well done ari!!!
I would’ve been like...wtf you expect me to know this dance I know nothing about ? Lol
There wasn't really stress for her during this, she was actually having a good time from the smile on her face during most of it

this music is hypnotizing, I love it. its such a shame it isnt on the official OST. the best part of the movie, also.
