Talked to you on the phone from Evansville earlier this week, all of your information is very educational and helpful Excellent video very well done .Travis, the way you shown us how to site in this scope is amazing., As soon as I get the money together I will definitely be ordering one from you, All your videos are definitely two Thumbs Up!, pretty amazing watching that shot get out to 500 yards that's pretty impressive. Thanks again. Jeff
Atn should be compensating you for this video. This video got them a lot of sales. I usually spend no more than a 100 bucks on a scope . And this video is making me go out and flip the bill for this scope. Amazing video
watching this video on my daughters tablet, you have sold me on this optic and will be purchasing one as soon as my tax return hits, gonna run the same set up as that. 22-250 is my favorite cartridge.
Glad you guy are showing all the setup and use videos. I actually bought my ATN from your site! Got the Fox Optics scope cover. Don't forget to mention the drink coozies that you send with the kit! Thanks for the vids and info.
I was going to pass on this Scope until I saw this vid, I am not much of a hunter but I love target shooting and did not think this would work for me but now I am convinced. Thank you.
gallor1able. I see you post this 2 years ago how does your scope do at long ranges. Does the calculator stay true to the range and data you enter? I have a atn rangefinder and it doesn’t seem to be as accurate as my gunwerks g7 rangefinder. In my 6.5-284. I’m seeing about 12-15 moa difference at 1000 yards. That’s a lot.
I was reading the Sierra specs for my bullets recently, and they had the coefficient for the projectile in brackets for different values at different speeds, which does make things complicated.
So do you have to create a profile for every 100 yards if you want to shoot up to 500 yards? Also, where do you get all the ballistic info correct, I find all of this quite confusing.
In order to use the ATN Stadiametric range finder you must tell the program the approximate height of the object. (This could be a total object height or feature of an object height ie, bottom of brisket to top of back or top of back to top of ears You place the first line with the arrow pointed down on top of the object then the second line with the arrow up on the bottom of the object. I assume the program then determines distance using trig (SOHCAHTOA) by knowing the object's height and looking at the change in angle(determining the actual angle) between the top and bottom of the object. If you are referring to the stadia metric subtended values of the reticle itself, it would depend on the reticle selected. I would assume that ATN has a reticle catalog that tells these values for each reticle. (I don't sell the ATN units anymore, I sell Pulsar, I know Pulsar has a very in-depth reticle catalog that tells all of the line values for their reticles. @@stigcarboncreative
@@foxoptic5887 thank you, buddy, I can't seem to find that data. So old-fashioned way. I'm using the 2nd reticle with the dot space and stadia. I think it is 4 moa from the dot to the start of the stadia.
Very nice video, very informative - I just got the 3-14 X-Sight and am enjoying the heck out of it, but I needed some verification of the actual ballistic compensation accuracy - you did a great job of that. Thanks.
We were a little pinched for time making this video. I will be going back and making another version of this that explains and shows how it works a lot better. This was our first time testing this feature and our primary concern was seeing how well it actually works. I was pretty impressed. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call, email, or message us. Thanks Travis Fox 877-806-2977 fox@foxoptic.com
Hector Morales there are 7 different reticle choices, one is a ballistic style that allows elevation and windage approximation. On targets like these using the calculator, I prefer duplex, I ignore the dot and focus more on quartering the posts on the target itself.
Was wondering how you have your tv hooked up to your scope?!? Is that possible with the ATN X-sight 4K 5x20 aswell? How? The Wifi on it sucks and is very unstable
I wish my 100 yard groups look as good as your 400 and 500 yard groups. Can you please tell us more about your rifle. I’m amazed that scope can shoot that far and still be accurate.
How do you connect it to the screen like you did. I want the recordings to show all the widgets like you did. On my recordings it onky shows the reticle and the yards. Thanks
The ATN HD series devices had a micro HDMI output that could be directly connected to a TV. This disabled the internal display but allowed you to see everything on the TV that you seen in the display. I then recorded the TV screen with a camcorder.
great vid m8, and exceptional shooting well done. iv just purchased this scope it on its way through the mail, i was always curious how far out it would compensate bullet drop for. i mean it must have its limitations, i wonder what that would be, say with a 308 rifle pushing a 165 grain ballistic tip at 2800 fps
Did you ever find out how far it will range out for your cartridge? I think I read somewhere where it said that 800 yards is the max for anything which is way too close for long range
I noticed it was shooting a little low one it started moving out . I'm wondering if there is a way to fine tune the optic and will it calculate past 500 yards .
Keith D The 400 yard shots are from 3:03 to 3:51 in the video. You should be able to see them quite well in the pop up in the corner of the video. We had a second camera set right at the target. You can see pretty well that my hold on the 3rd shot caused me to drift out of my group. One of the biggest things I like about the video feature is that it takes a lot of the guess work out of diagnosing problems.
No, I shot this using the HDMI out port so the live feed on the TV would show everything. It cuts the video feed to the display but keeps everything on the screen. Recording through the device only records the reticle. You could possibly use a screen recording app while tethered via the Obsidian app but it can be pretty glitchy and it might be a headache.
When you adjust the scope for each distance how did you get it to go from 100 to 200 and so on mine only changes in 1 yard increments and takes forever to dial out to 600
In all previous ATN X Sight units you could quickly change the inputs with a steady hold of the up and down arrow keys in quick entry mode. ATN appears to have taken it upon themselves to "break" this feature on the newest version. I am guessing so they can use it to their advantage to market the up sell of the ABL rangefinder. Ultimately another one of the reasons I dropped the ATN line. I came to the conclusion ATN would intentionally cause consumer frustration in an effort to push up their own profits. (Shady) in my opinion.
