I would have never guessed you would react to this song! One of my favorite New Wave/Dance tracks from the 80’s. I honestly still have this song on a mix cassette tape and a mix CD I made!!
Cool. But I don't remember this one from back in the eighties. If heard it back then I probably would have thought it was a New Order dance club remix of some sort that I wasn't familiar with. The synth riff that picks up at the end sounds like it came from "Sweet Soul Music" by Arthur Conley from 1967, but it could also be from the soundtrack to The Magnificent Seven or some interpolation of the intro from the original. "Rose Garden" was a big crossover hit for Lynn Anderson in 1970-71 topping the country charts in the US as well as the international charts across several countries including Germany. It was a top five hit on the pop charts in the US. I remember hearing the song on the radio when I was a little kid. The catchy hook of the chorus caught my ear and we had a small rose garden in our backyard back then which was a potentially thorny obstacle to be avoided. So the figurative reference in the lyrics left me curious and I'm pretty sure I asked my mom about the song at some point. 😄

I really love the remix of this song. The single version is too short. It's the 12" where this one is at. Nice reaction! Merry Christmas!
