Tiffany started talking about Gerard Way reading Doom Patrol "when he was a young boy" and basically just made a reference right there, and no one latched on to it.
_Robot Man_ being the opposite of _RoboCop_ (More Robot physically, yet less Robot mentally), is a really awesome observation. I just love it, for some reason.
I hope everyone notices the increase in production quality of the latest Back Issues. Sal, you are doing an amazing job. You all are earning your spot in the big leagues.
I love how Ben always has to ask if Tiffany's going to make him cry when she explains books. I imagine her Halloween costume is just herself holding up volumes of Saga and Ben runs screaming.
This was EXACTLY what I needed before cracking open Milk Wars part 1. I sadly missed out on the young animal line but just couldn't turn away from the absurd concept of this new crossover. Keep up the great work guys!! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go buy every single comic in which Danny the Street appears.
60k Subscribers, 200 episodes, new studio, new marriage AND they're about to do manga on back issues?! ComicPOP been making big moves lately it brings me joy tbh
Weirdness for its own sake isn't an interesting purpose, and Grant's stuff always had more to it than that. I think this new series has more to it as well, but this moment crosses a line for me, with a protagonist getting it on with their pet (no matter how "altered" its state), and makes it hard to like the character. It does look like I'm in the minority on this, which is fine. I still intend on following the series, this was just a big "off-key" moment for me.
Well, we don't have that but we have the next best thing - a Doom Patrol TV series releasing on the DC Streaming service next year! Starring Brendan Fraser as Robotman, Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder, Matt Bomer as Negative Man, April Bowlby as Elastigirl, and Alan Tudyk as Mister Nobody.
The doom patrol started as a fantastic 4 parody, all the members have similar powers with the prof being powerless but secretly responsible for all their accidents (like how the 4 were created by richards science) the fact they starter next to xmen (which originally also sold poorly until clairemônt) only helped the public forget them more.
Congrats on 200 episodes of back issues! This is, hands down, the weirdest book you guys ever covered. I loved the zoom ins on Ben and Ethan's confused expressions. XD
I honestly can't like this enough, what a joyous celebration of Doom Patrol! This hilarious ride of an episode was exactly what I needed after reading the brilliant start to Milk Wars. I love what the Young Animal team is doing with this book and having Tiffany lead this amazing journey through the first volume was so much fun. Looking forward to more ❤️
I feel really trippy right now like the episode of South Park where kyle starts to question existence am I really a llama dreaming I'm what a llama thinks a human life is like?
YES! I just got this in trade last month as a holiday gift and i loved it. So happy that Tiffany is covering it for the 200th episode of back issues! Can't wait for the 60,000 sub Livestream on Friday and thanks to Tiffany and sal for the signed poster from NYCC 2017. PS if you remember me I was the only one with their grandfather who was there. ComicPOP for life.
Congratulations on 200 episodes of Back Issues. You all always make me laugh and brighten my day every time I watch it. Keep up the amazing work and here's to 200 more!
Every once in a while I feel like my connection to reality has become too strong, so I come back to this episode just to make sure I don't get too comfortable in my own sanity.
Awesome choice this week as always. Ever since she mentioned Doom Patrol on TWP for her choice DC run for 2017, I was hoping this was gonna happen. Tiff is the best!
When I got on today and saw that this was the episode I made a point to finish the trade of vol. 1 so I could watch this. Love it, Darington’s art is so good.
Great job Tiffany! Ethan and Ben...I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I don't know if you guys were prepared for this. This book has my favorite type of reality-bending zanyness and was a really good point to jump on for people interested in The Doom Patrol, like myself. Currently reading this next volume, which has started answering the questions left behind by this issue. Tho heads up, and I don't think is a spoiler cause I swear it gets mentioned in the first volume, but the god they kill is The God of Superheroes. This most likely accounts for Danny's new powers of creation, especially in relation to Danny creating Casey, his first person and superhero. But yeah, great job you guys! Tiffany is always a pleasure to have host!
Sam Morrison speaking of acid trips in one issue of Grant Morrison's run of Doom Patrol Mr Nobody tries to become President by stealing the bike of Albert Hofman (the creator of LSD who had the first ever trip while on said bike.) the bike became imbued with all the psychedelic energy of that trip, gaining the ability to intoxicate people when it is ridden in proximity to them. He used the bike to power his campaign bus. I am not making up! A supervillain tried to become the President by making all the voters start tripping balls. This is exactly why I love Doom Patrol.
You know, if a girl showed up at my house, displayed the magical ability to turn people into cakes, I probably wouldn't tell them no because I have little interest in being a cake
Thanks to the doom patrol show, I was prepared for how unprepared I was for the usual WTF element of doom patrol. I’m not even sure that’s a proper sentence that makes sense.
Somebody had to do it. While I love this iteration of the team with new characters in the roster, I had to read the first vol multiple times to understand what was happening. I do like the first Vol and first couple of issues up until 7 and believe there was a strong start. I like the weird but it just got out of control. All in all it has a lyrical vibe with the dialogue with each cover and all the art work likened to album covers.
Oh dang I'll have to check this out now. Video games, a sloppy life, good at one thing, AND ambulances! It's like I can relate with her one a weird level. Consider me a new reader!
Tiffany started talking about Gerard Way reading Doom Patrol "when he was a young boy" and basically just made a reference right there, and no one latched on to it.

2 years have past since this episode, but I can't wait until they finally cover Grant Morrison's run.
2 years more...
_Robot Man_ being the opposite of _RoboCop_ (More Robot physically, yet less Robot mentally), is a really awesome observation. I just love it, for some reason.
200 Episodes later, there's a studio, a marriage, and an unwavering sense of joy.
Come a long way since a kitchen.
PriceyYeti40 Lets hope the devil doesn't make them divorce.

But think of the great story potential of a swinging young bachelor Sal and bachelorette Tiffany!
I hope everyone notices the increase in production quality of the latest Back Issues. Sal, you are doing an amazing job. You all are earning your spot in the big leagues.
Feels like a fitting episode for Grant Morrison's birthday.
I love how Ben always has to ask if Tiffany's going to make him cry when she explains books. I imagine her Halloween costume is just herself holding up volumes of Saga and Ben runs screaming.

Lucky Inn They’re gonna do Anime!?
Timmy lol I meant anime back issues but if that’s also what u meant then yes
Lucky Inn when they said that
Lucky Inn anime back issue, or do you mean manga back issues
jeremy kampman wow i'm such a dumbass lmao I meant manga
"Okay, that is No! NO! No!" -Ben 2018
Indeed. Not sure why this moment seems to get such a pass with readers....
Max Traver this is clearly based off of grant Morrison, so that's mainly why
- - I don’t remember Grant having any character get physically intimate with their pet.
Max Traver no, but it's purpose is being weird and crazy which is the Doom patrol's purpose
Weirdness for its own sake isn't an interesting purpose, and Grant's stuff always had more to it than that. I think this new series has more to it as well, but this moment crosses a line for me, with a protagonist getting it on with their pet (no matter how "altered" its state), and makes it hard to like the character. Still my favorite comic pop episode 😂😂, the general confusion between Ben and Ethan , golden ✨️
I want a DOOM PATROL movie written by Grant Morrison and Gerrard Way and directed by David Lynch. with lynch starring as miles

Remember when Doom Patrol was on an episode of the Teen Titans
A Simple Commenter I do!! I didn't get a chance to talk about Beast Boys connection to the Doom Patrol!
TheRealZubes that was my first time being exposed to the Doom Patrol and i love them
Tiff: He creates Danny Land
Ethan: The Danniest place on Earth
That's got me laughing even as I type it, just the way he says it
The reactions from Ethan and Ben are great in this episode. This is definitely not the kind of comics they're used to.
I never thought I’d see the day, when a Doom Patrol Story would be covered on Back Issues.
"Awww man..The Milk Wars. I know what's that about." Ethan kills me. LOL
"interesting" is Ethan for "that's stupid" hahaha
Is Offscreen Sal another character from Doom Patrol?
BBmetalhead04 yes he allways is out of sight spouting sass and information.

The karate joke has to be my favorite Ethan quote of all time
Not the Doom Patrol run that I was hoping for, but I’m not disappointed at all. Any Doom Patrol on Back Issues is good enough for me.
I think the world is ready for Grant Morrisons Doom Patrol | Back Issues
Congrats guys on making it to Episode 200!

I think Tiffany gave fair warning about this one.
Great job Tiffany! Ethan and Ben...I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I don't know if you guys were prepared for this.

I got the trade for christmas, and i’m so happy to see it covered on back issues
This book is the definition of being confused in the best way. Each issue is my monthly acid trip.
I loved this arc. What a crazy, cool, and fun story. Thanks Tiffany and ComicPOP! for making this episode happen.
Just thinking to myself this morning on my way to work that I️ wanted there to be a doom patrol back issues
"Most of the people are people" that sounds like a T-Shirt waiting to happen.
I am reading through the Grant Morrison run right now.

Oh wow this is exciting! But also one I'll have to come back to. Ive had this trade in my pile for awhile and dont want to be spoiled

I need to read this book...
Throughout Tiffany's explaination of DooomPatrol I found my self repeating the phrase "What is this book!?" constantly.
"She loves her cat... Then she gets to love her cat".... what!
Well that was a thing.
Congrats on episode 200.

I just finished reading this volume and everything feels like a direct sequel to Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol.
Love this one
I’m like 4 months behind on comic pop vids school has me so busy finally I have so many videos to watch yay
Honestly, this is my actual favorite comic book ever. It's so fucking insane!
Wow, i didn't expected this...cool!
