- True stories from real traveling musicians about the glamorous life on the road! This is from Basel, Switzerland on the 2000 tour. I saw them at the Sooner Theater in Norman that year. Great show. Wally's parents were in the audience. I think they're from Norman.
Q: Who can play anything with strings?
A: David Lindley!
Musical genius, and funny as hell.
LOVE. RIP David. Forever here in your music. So very grateful to have met you, laughed our asses off, and grooved to your fabulous groove. LOVE.
How does this have dislikes? This is one of the greatest numbers ever performed! Two musical geniuses letting it flow, "I aint lying"
It can only be because they’re stupid and ignorant.
Because they are tone def!
Because their Losers!
they are
Ya ain't lyin'
Rest in peace David Lindley, you were a talented man and a fantastic performer.
R.I.P. David Lindley. I only got to see him play live once at the Claremont Folk Music Festival at the Botanical Gardens some years ago. He played solo, he was brilliant, everybody loved him, and most of the several hundred people there (it was a sold-out event) probably even knew him. The whole Claremont music scene mourns him.
How in the world can you say David Lindley is under rated. He regarded by his peers as one of the all time greatest and most versatile.
"By HIS PEERS"....is the key phrase here!😮😢
Apologies, never heard of him.
because he flew under the radar of most fans.Nobody outside of musicians knew about him because he was low key but all musicians wanted him on their albums because he was so good.
RIP. You will be missed.
RIP you will be missed by so many❤
RIP Dave. Thanks for the music
RIP : we loved u & Wally together the best.
RIP David. This is what will redeem the world
🙏💙 Rest In Peace Sir 💙🙏
Wally was just so perfect for Mr. Dave....
Its that little bit of humor in the playing......in there with the virtuosity!
Great song! Ranch Dressing Industrial Grade.
RIP David Lindley
brilliant
Fabulous, and that polyester !!!
I've only met him a couple of times, but he's a very nice individual and puts on a heck of an entertaining show. Once you start investigating, he has played on many of the hits from some great artists of the last twenty years.
I saw these guys play on Bonnie Raitt and Friends' 1999 tour. I lost count of the amount of times I had to pick my jaw up off the ground watching these guys' musical interplay. That was the first time I'd head this song and I've loved it and Lindley and Ingram's work since.
Awesome 2 huge talents
You put a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. Remember listening to a story about Ireland, David’s daughter, and cat food sandwiches it was so funny. Thank you.
RIP, legend
Ich hab sie auf dieser Tour in Bremen auf der Breminale gesehen.Eins der besten Konzerte, die ich jemals gesehen habe. Gänsehaut pur
Top notch playing
That was an awesome show Lindley & Wally played first and afterwards the great Taj Mahal :)
David is THE MAN!!!
He was fun. Rest Easy
One of the best, terrible songs ever. You are so missed, Mr. Dave.
LINDLEY THEE LEGEND.
Life's been good to me so far

we found an autographed copy of their cd in our library book sale. it is awesome. we really love it!
I saw him back in the 80's at Diego's in La Jolla, CA, danced like crazy. So Fun.
saw him several times at the ironicaly named Country Club in Reseda early 80s. Always took friends who had never heard of him and they became converts
Rest well Mr. Dave. Hope they have some good sandwiches in the green room of wherever you are now
I just got outta a couple of weeks in county jail. I can relate, trust me.
Thanks for posting.
Love David Lindley! Saw him in Lansing MI a few years ago. Got him to autograph my vinyl copy of Win This Record with Ray o Lex

It took a friend and I 15 years of friendship to discover we both listened to DL in our youth! What great memories!
A true Beacon From Mars he is!
Can't top this without help!!!!!!!!!!!Lindley for President Director of Music anywhere!!! Eat your heart our, J.Brown!!!!
That is some can of Whiskas man!!
I still like him - a lot - such a good and old (?) music!!!
Thanks for the tour. Lyle is so cool.
Hellava drummer!
For Wally. This song 😱 Never going to hold this against you 🤣 especially now that we have lost David ❤
As a promoter and a guy that has worked with Wally and know his Family. This is an incredible song, founded by real road experiences no doubt.
I once had to go find a new old hotel room service plate cover for his drum kit.
Now Wally is playing with David Nelson Band. More great musicians.
One big family.
Thanks for sharing . Great moment on the slide and what a theme...
I went to a show, when they were touring through Germany, some years ago.
It was awesome.
And yes, Lindley is extremely underrated.
The unaware, no knowledge of musical history, teenage description of anything older than last week that isn't a "rap song"..."underrated".
That was a super concert!
Plz come back to NC!
Saw these guys Saturday night at Scotty’s sand bar in Bay City for the first time. Great show
Really? How did you hear about it? Do you know of any other shows anywhere else?
Always a crowd pleaser!!!
What became of Wally? What a great drummer and fun musician to work with. Where you be Wally? Remember me?
This song is the best. I experienced some. lol
,, Just love it !
At Mazotti's, on The Square? I was there. Mister Dave and I go all the way back to the 70's. I was an L.D. for alloit of his shows, all the way back to Jackson Browne/Eagles/Linda Ronstsdt days. I've eaten lunch with Wally a few times. No "squirts." No "Googly Eyes." Always "order out" your Road Food. Cat Food Sandwiches be damned.
Wow wally
We are Blue Rare and we love your music!!!!
¡Viva El Rayo!
CharlieMoher, He sang with Jackson Browne (Stay) Super young then. Very talented.
Love it !
just great david is too cool
love the drummer
l saw david w/ joni mitchell. unreal show.
Looking for a version with Dave ‘s intro speaking about the song’s origin
GREAT PERCUSSION ? Never heard of him before.
Wally is probably best known for his work with Timbuk 3. Isn't he great?
@@ATolsma Sure is. I hope he is well as i understand he was in the jaws of cancer a few years back.
plays with Jackson Browne sometimes
the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
Lindley is touring with Jackson Brown this year. Saw them at The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Catch em!
Sweet!
yep man I don't feel so good
They know how to say sammitch
i have seen him in humboldt as well
@mrd94869 He's doin a festival about 20 miles from the old family farm house and a whole bunch of relatives still live near by. Its a bluegrass & roots music fest. I really want to see Junior Brown, but Lindey was a great surprise on the bill, so that seals the deal. I am headed north in June. No Jackson Brown but lots of great acts. Thought Id try a CC& his LPA at another festival up in Oregon too. Lindey is the only guy my older uncles might not really dig, but they'll like some of his stuff.
lindley is cool as hell. portlandblues probably wish he knew what lindley has forgotten.
I think I saw this tour at the Bottom Line.
Does anybody know where i can find Jah reggae live from this show? I used to watch it before and now i cant find it. Happy for help.
There are some down arrows? Who are these people that don’t appreciate these 2 musical geniuses? I reckon if you stood still, David Lindley would get a tune out of your shoelaces...
haha. I rekon you are right about that! I've seen him many times and play many instruments. He can wrestle music out of anything with strings so shoelaces wouldn't be much of a challenge for him.
Yikes! 🎉😂😮😅
Wish the guitar was louder than the drums but great song
Anyone have the lyrics to this awesome tune.?
The ultimate IDGAF song
The King of Polyester!
Bukka White taught Lindley it appears: give cred baby
Not by me, baby!
78,000 views, I think is saying something
Just had a yummy cat food pizza for lunch.
His hair looks like Robben Ford's.
David, if you read these comments, please come back and play Traverse City, Michigan again...I had to work last time you were here and I didn't get to see you. I felt weird typing "Michigan again" It is kind of redundant but totally not, i just blew my own mind...
shakie stevens
Lindley is SO UNDERATED!!!
Only to someone completely unaware of music history and whose scope goes no further than last week's "rap song"....someone describing a musician they just heard a second ago, never saw, never talked to anyone about before, never read about and were living in a hole for the last 50 years or were born 10 years ago.
Bada Bing
Musikers hårda liv...
Try it you might like it! Cats keep secrets.
3sat for life!
….makes me kinda hungry..
wtf.. lol
Cat Food Sandwiches
David Lindley & Wally Ingram
Let me tell you people what happened about a year ago.
I thought it would be something that you people would like to know.
We drove 600 miles to play a 45 minute show.
And the promoter man, he says “That’s the way it goes.”
We got cat food sandwiches waiting for me backstage.
And the woman who made ‘em looks just like Jimmy Page.
We got the sweatin’ cheese, smells like some old kinda tennis shoe.
Well, the flies buzz around it. The bees, they like it too.
Chorus:
We got old pulled beef, and oil slick ham,
Mystery meat looks a little like SPAM,
Some kinda vegetable, worn and frayed,
Ranch dressing, industrial grade,
That’s right, uh-hun, I ain’t lyin’.
Oh look!
They got lips, nose, ears, and tongue!
I just can’t wait to get myself some!
They got it all down in a gelatin base,
Put it all together, get an animal face.
That’s right, uh-hun, I ain’t lyin’.
Well, they puts that bubblegum carpet there just for me.
And over in the corner smells just like somebody peed.
Well, ‘scuse me, Mr. Promoter Man, I don’t feel so good.
I just ate a sandwich made out of your backstage food.
Well, I’m standing by the meat and Lord I commence to squirt.
I’m sorry, darlin’, if I spoiled your tie-dyed skirt.
Well, I put on a new suit. I walked right up there right onto the stage.
And I felt like there was something that was crawling down on my leg.
Well, them people in the front row, they’re making them googely eyes.
And that’s when I know, that’s when I realized….
Chorus
I prefer the Dog over the Cat food, Thanks..............................
Ahh The Beavis and Butt-Head of world music ❤️
