    For those who asked: both laptops have an integrated Intel graphics, both have DDR5 RAM, both have NVMe storage.
    For those who are concerned about copilot, just disable it or don't use Windows 11.
    For those who say Microsoft is still getting your data, you missed the entire point of this video. Tldr it about being able to run AI locally. You can install your own LLM and train your own data without using the cloud. I showed Premier Pro as that is visual and vs showing a text based LLM that isnt.
    If you want to dig your heels in and ignore AI like it's going to go away, I hate to tell you, but AI has been in virtually all major systems for years. It's not like it started with ChatGPT 🤦
    If you don't dig it, fine. Burn your electronics, don't drive a car, use cash only, and live off the grid. If you aren't going to do that,then AI is part of your tech life. Like it or not. It is what it is.

    Please be aware, that having an AI CPU, doesn't mean that all AI workloads will be handled locally. Microsoft Windows 11 has introduced copilot AI. It does not run locally and because of this, it does send anything you give it to Microsoft's servers to be processed. This might change with the new AI PC's but the best answer I can find online about MS using the AI processors, is they will only (and I quote) "kinda run locally".

    • @LironSegev
      @LironSegev  Місяць тому +11

      Hence the tests were not done with copilot. Only with software installed. Also you can install local LLMs but can't really show it as it's visually unappealing 😂

My guess is that in a few years AI is going to go from a marketing buzzword to something you can't live without.

    One question I have is how do we know the performance improvement in the newer laptop is due to AI or is it due to the newer CPU/GPU? Can the AI (NPU) be disabled in the new laptop to run a true test of AI vs. no AI. Also would the software performance depend on the software being able to utilize the AI features of the new processor, or is it transparent to the code - in other words does the app software have to be re-written to take advantage of the new NPU?

    • @LironSegev
      @LironSegev  Місяць тому +1

      Both computers are identical except for the processor which houses the NPU. That is what makes this an AI PC as you saw the exact same software runs on both, same version of Premiere Pro, but with the NPU, there is a vast improvement as the same software is able to take advantage of the NPU.

    In simple english, what tasks were being done by the two pcs? My best guess is that the first task was for the software to generate a text summary of the video and the second task was to figure out all the spots in the video where it had been edited? Are either of those guesses anywhere close?
    If my guesses were correct, why would anyone want to do either of those tasks unless they are a professional video editor?

    • @LironSegev
      @LironSegev  Місяць тому

      It is correct but you may have missed the point. Its not about video editing. AI can do a lot like analyzing documents but you wouldn't want your personal information uploaded to some random AI website which uses your document to train its AI models. So with an AI pc, it is all done locally so you get the AI benefit without compromising your privacy.
      I showed the power of AI in an editing program as that is visual vs analyzing a document which isn't.
      Also AI is being built into everything (like it or not) so as software rolls out if your PC has the NPU you will notice a massive speed difference and as well as security and even battery life improvements on laptops

    • @kirkjohnson6638
      @kirkjohnson6638 Місяць тому

      @LironSegev I guess I care more about what new things an AI PC can do that non-AI PCs cannot than about how much faster they do tasks that PCs could already do. For instance, if AI can read every study ever done on Alzheimers, compare and contrast all conclusions and evaluate the strengths if supporting data to arrive at conclusions as to its underlying causes that no human has yet postulated, then that is highly useful. If it's just going to read a few sources and write a history report on George Washington for a fifth grader, then it still has quite a ways to go before it becomes impressive. To me the whole point if AI is for it to improve itself beyond any knowledge or programming it gets from humans, but I imagine there are definitions of AI that differ from mine.

I think you have to consider proofreading and error correction when evaluating a task like that. Thanks!

Not only if we could identify threats that have never been identified before but if an advanced system could also follow back all of the nodes in the internet to the source and then maybe even send them a little gift of our own to them. If not well then at least send that information to Homeland security or the FBI and along with some perhaps new laws that has some teeth in them will then perhaps go after them and put them out of business. I think that is actually what we really need to make everything better.

      Ok let's play this game: AI = bad. Got it.
      So let me ask you this:
      Have you got rid of your smart phone, tablet and computer? All our phones and most apps and all of social media are full of AI.
      Have you ditched all banking and use only cash? Since AI connects the data points of what you buy and where so you can't have that.
      Have you got one of those tube TV, no security cameras, no smart home devices, and of course sold your car? all of those have AI.
      Have you dumped all forms of Medical insurance? I mean those darn corporates harves our data
      If the answer is no, while many talk a good game, in reality we like the convenience of living in today's society.
      At least some companies acknowledge it and are taking steps to help you find a balance between using good services while giving you control of the data.
      You don't like it? Cool.
      I don't about where you live, but I can't recall the last time I saw an ad in the yellow pages for a typewriter repair service - wonder what happened to them? hmmmm
