(some song i wrote when i was 18 and didnt finish. story was recycled into ulterior spectacle. all is noncanon. i am aware that it is not good lol)
I have to admit, I hated it.
Yeah... Ulterior Spectacle was wayyyy better, but I like the idea and focus of this scrapped version. It seems that you were more focused on the destruction and how the world was left in ruins rather than the character himself. Still, I loved how the parts of the world were shown frozen, it really added to the realistic side of things and the aftermath of the event. Hope to see what's next in store!!
You could've gotten that interpretation because of the lack of character art shown

I always liked the chorus part with the gargoyles ngl. Even if for some reason it reminds me of a circus, in that part. Tundra clowns.
The final does still have gargoyles signing the chorus, but it's definitely much different from the one in this music video.
It's not terrible but ulterior spectacle is definitely so much better I'm kinda glad this was scrapped. I still like it tho
While both were excellent, I have to agree that Ulterior Spectacle is better by a long shot. This focuses the reasoning why the character did the action but Ulterior Spectacle expresses the affects and aftermath.
But I find both really catchy haha :’>

Not as great as Ulterior Spectacle, but still pretty good! You can tell where improvements were made by comparing the two.
I definitely prefer Ulterior Spectacle but I also kind of dig this? It’s a bit different but I really like the concept behind it and it’s really nice to see its development!! I wonder how KAITO would’ve sounded with it?
I think my favourite parts of this is the parts with the statues talking,
Compared to Dex, Kaito didn't suit this song as well, mainly due to his range

This defiantly isn't as good as Ulterior Spectacle, but it has it's moments, I especially like 1:50.
It's also interesting to see more of the character motivation that wasn't explained in the final product.

I've been listening to your video with the "unused" instrumentals a lot lately, and I wondered what was hiding behind the "violent" lyrics you said you wrote for Tundra Lens. Here's the answer! I love it, how it focuses on the relationship between Morzogo and Stephan Alexander, and on the latter's state of mind I guess? Anyway, I'm glad you shared this with us, I was really looking forward to it! Thank you for all the quality content, and for hyping us so much!

This is one of my favorite things you've made, definitely not because of it being some magnum opus or whatever but more because of my oddly specific taste in melody/lyrical imagery

The song is nice, but I definitely agree that it really can’t compare to ulterior spectacle. Tundra lens is much quieter and doesn’t have that same strong kick to it that both aberrant garden and ulterior spectacle have. Though I did enjoy the part with the many gargoyles and the circus-like music.
In the end, I’m happy you were able find a way to make something you we satisfied with.
It's not bad, but something about the timing sounds off in some parts... I can totally see why it was scrapped and what parts of the tune remained on the final "version" (The chorus for example, it's very similar). It's nice that you posted this too, I find it very interesting to get a glimpse at an artist's process of creation, It's fascinating >w
honestly, while i can understand why you scrapped it, this fuckin bops:
-love the chorus
-love the like, pseudo-xylophone in the instrumentals?
-love the intermissions with the gargoyles
-love how it has more time dedicated to stephan's backstory
one thing that i noticed is that this song implies that him hitting the mirror was a mistake, while ulterior spectacle shows him literally turning towards it and shooting himself with it as a change-of-heart sort of thing, which i find really interesting. i definitely prefer ulterior spectacle but this is really neat as well!
I thought the mistake was destroying the world with the Tundra Lens...
@@dreamlandbuds7710 i meant the section where "damned be that mirror" is. the story in the desc of US says he snapped out of a "trance", dug up the mirror, and froze himself. this song implies that it was a mistake "he realized his deadly mistake". in US he seems to have frozen everything under the influence of morzogo (implied by the few frames where alexander looks possessed as hell when he takes the pic) but in this one it seems more like a persuasion sort of thing.

Okay, after listening to this version 100 times now i'd say this is actually pretty good.
After 2 years, my opinion shifted slightly, it's not as good as I remembered, but none the less I still enjoy this version.
Glad you made the other one. This one is not very good if I'm honest. I mean the lyrics are decent, but the music is nowhere near to your usual standard.
That said, it's still better than I could do. The chorus of the frozen world was alright. Still, Ulterior Spectacle was just that, spectacular. This is passable. There's a difference between settling for mediocraty or casting months of effort and pain aside for a chance at brilliance. It's a call not all artists have the strength to make.

this seems to be a bit of an unpopular opinion, but I prefer this over ulterior spectacle, even if this is unfinished.
I dont rlly like the news reporter parts in ulterior and the song just... sounds flat? Its hard to describe
I also like the chorus in this much better
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE LYRICS TO THIS DAMN SOng!! I hate to admit this but this song is next to Ulterior Spectacle in my playlist! I really love this WIP, Shame it never got finished. It might not fit the mood of the character, but as a simple one off song is really good.
Despite it being untuned, I still get down to this song super often
I actually really like this! There are a few bits that I didn't care for, but overall this is pretty good! ((I'm glad Ulterior Spectacle was made as an official part of the story instead of this, though.))

Honestly, I think it's pretty decent but I can see why you went with the final version instead. The new one seems much more polished so it's good that you spent time improving things.
I remember being obsessed over this song when I discovered Kenopsia, I adored the parts where the gargoyles sing

One thing I liked (is a nitpick): at 4:08 when it shows all the beasts revealed so far (including the mystery one), it's easier to see compared to the final product. But I do like Ulterior far more, both art and instrumental wise

That's interesting, in Ulterior Spectacle I got the impression that the kid killed himself, in this it seems more like the mirror thing was an accident.
Actually, if you look at it, you'll notice that the color of the text changes. I kind of get the vibe that The last bit is from the perspective of the icy apocalypse Beast.

Instead of just saying the negative things about this, im gonna say what i liked about it. The starting up music to 0:50 was wonderful, i liked the vibe. it did give me a sci-fi movie apocalypse type of thing. I really like the way the music is with the chorus of the gargoyles is, it just sounds like something you would spin around and dance in a ballroom too.
