Thank you for being willing to live through this song! I am very happy with it and I feel comforted by the fact that it created this degree of discomfort. This is the song I was telling you. All the lyrics in the verses are direct quotes from prisoners, simply arranged to rhyme, but I didn't rephrase or change any of their words at all. I think allowing these voices to be heard and not hiding behind lyrics that pretend to be beautiful or profound is a more accurate representation of reality in this case... Of course, I wrote the chorus and the end, which is more in line with my usual lyrics. I don't know, I think there is a lot to think about with this song.

Are you saying... our discomfort brings you comfort? I'm not sure how I feel about that...
But that's a great approach to lyrics on the verses, because the song kinda makes me feel like I'm there, so to have the lyrics actually coming from prisoners is spot on. It also doesn't need to have the lyrics sound very musical or rhyming, cos the whole aesthetic is discomfort.

@@thewindmillfullovcorpses Yes, the whole goal is discomfort and how it changes thought patterns etc. The verse lyrics are very "simple" in a way, but I think it might indicate that these individuals are in a heighted state and fancy language tends to go out the window. Still, I think what they are voicing is very significant.
I don't think I could make stuff like this if I didn't feel a degree of comfort living with discomfort and others' discomfort... XD It isn't desirable and it doesn't make me happy, but it is comforting when humans respond in a coherent emotional way, and I think discomfort is the most reasonable emotional response to prison: it is designed for this.

Hahaha yeah this song was, uhm, definitely a song. It definitely had a beat. With some instruments. 😂

Despite the fact that the lyrics aren't exactly good, I feel like they're pretty accurate? Except for the no dope. My brother went to prison twice for 4 years each time, and apparently it was easier to get drugs in there than outside. He also said they had soap on a rope so they didn't drop it lol

wow, we did not expect to hear prison stories in our comment section that sounds pretty rough. Hope the guy stays out this time! Soap on a rope is so fun it even rhymes :)))

Hi! I agree. I perceive the prison system as being an integral part of the drug business. I think your comment highlights a weakness of the lyric video. My entire line is "you'll find no drag, no dope, no soap - wouldn't that be the dream?" However, I feel that the way we divided the lyrics visually doesn't let this come across. As far as letting it come through in the performance, I chose not to. I wanted the chorus to feel like a never ending overstimulation, so I didn't want much subtlety or irony to be audible.

Music that's not supposed to be liked? Vocals and lyrics weren't too good indeed.
