Huge Seal Bull too Big for Rescue Net!

- When we are dealing with a big proud alpha seal bull like this one, a rescue needs more strategy and planning than our usual catch, cut, and release approach. Unfortunately, we didn’t have that time on our hands and had to think on our feet, especially because he didn’t even fit in our rescue net. All three rescuers joined forces and secured him, cut the entanglement, and released him. He has earned our respect!

Gosh, you must have needed every bit of your nerve to tackle that bull. Even his noises weren’t the normal grumbles, but a full-on menacing growl. Thank you for saving both seals - your kindness and courage to help them all, whatever their size or the difficulty, know no bounds, and all whilst educating us all about the perilous state of our oceans.
I understand your message that you wish you hadn't had to develop the skills, but for all the seals you have saved, and for those you will go on to save, I am so grateful you have.

Seal bull is strong! Almost missed
Now that's one big bull. Thankfully, the net didn't get distoryed like the orange net was. A big thank you to the people who make and donate the nets.
That huge boy wore the net like a hat. I didn’t think he would ever fit in. For a change, the target hitting the water actually helped to get him netted. Wonder if the extra large monster net was used? Any skin left on the soles of Naude’s feet after that? Once again truly, WELL DONE Gentlemen 🦭🌊💙

That bull was strong and agile. For a second I thought Denzil was about to go surfing, Captain Ahab style, courtesy of one angry bull seal. Hats off to Denzil for hanging in there long enough for the reinforcements to help out. These guys are the best.

This just shows the experience and how dangerous this job can be. Thankfully team communication and strength worked to save this Bull. This could have turn out badly if not for their skills. Then saving the pup and almost getting bit was another life saved. Imagine the adrenaline dump after these rescues!

It was a smaller bull that dragged Naude at the dock last November. I figured Naude would be going for a swim this time. Gives new meaning to "catching the bus". Those big boys are relentless, and smart. They don't get that big without knowing some tricks.
That's one gorgeous seal, I tell you. Strong efforts paid off. But wet jeans on a chilly day deserves another cup of coffee and more cookies. ☕😊
OCN my Family I miss you all soo much. My husband had a stroke and a heart attack. I am very busy caring for him.. But wow that was one huge Seal. I am happy you were able to cut him out of that entanglement. But that is what my superheroes do, they protect and serve, even the seals :) Love you all. I will be back when i can..

American bull riders have to stay on with one hand for at least seconds. Far as I'm concerned you guys outrank them by a lot..GOLD medal work is what you do, no comparison to rodeo riders. You save lives says it all and your commitment to the ecosystem is inspirational.
Wow, I thought the seals on the dock were big, OMG, this bull was HUGE! I thought the rescuers were going to lose him in the water! What a demonstration of teamwork, strength, tenacity, dedication and expertise. Luckily the strap was straight forward and fell off easily. Then, we can't forget about that little guy's severe entanglement. I'm using the 'S' word this time. This is a fine example of why I consider OCN to be Superheros. This is their Super Power. All their characteristics make them Superheroes. I'll never tire of watching them work. LOVE YOU OCN!!! 🥰😍🥰

Holeeee Crap!!!! I was freakin' in my seat! I really thought this was a "One that got away" vid! Strength, knowledge and perseverance paid off!
Just looking at the marks of the teeth left in the pole through the net gives you a good idea of how sharp those teeth are. This huge male might be close to 250 kg, such a beautiful animal.

Lovely work, guys. We have no idea how difficult your conditions are eg, what you step in, how dangerous it is, but you are fearless and save SO many of these beautiful seals. They do thank you, maybe later, when they are enjoying a pain free swim!! Excellent human beings!
This is amazing! The bull is massive and strong, he shakes his head and he bites but he gets tired after a while. The pup with a cut in the neck requires a more cautious approach. Fantastic works, thank you, Naude, Antoine and Denzil! Much admiration and respect for what you do daily.
