carolina marin has not always been my favorite personality in women's singles, but it shows amazing character the way she came back from two ACL blow-outs and is playing fast, powerfully, precisely, and with great tactical control. i've seen lots of ACL blow-outs and comebacks, but i've never seen anything like marin's double-recovery, both in the pace and completeness of recovery. it demonstrates laser focus and willingness to do incredibly hard work every day that these sorts of recovery curves demand. these are two of the fittest and most formidable female athletes in the sport, and it's sad to see their clash end with akane yamaguchi's injury. hopefully her right hip trouble will resolve and we'll see her back in form soon

Yamaguchi had a big lump on her leg yesterday so she overworked herself whilst playing against AnSe Young
Always tough on the body, match after match after just after one day of rest. And women singles, ladies like to go all the way with a fight. No doubt ASY tired Akane out too with three matches. Always tough to watch when injured. Speedy recovery for all the ladies who got injured.
Lovely game! Carolina wanted it so bad, I’m happy for her. But Akane would’ve won if she was physically strong today, she easily won the semifinal yesterday.

Carolina Marin behaved quite well today actually. She didn't shout excessively and that hug she gave Yamaguchi at the end 56:40 plus the short exchange of words was very wholesome. She also didn't immediately burst out celebrating after her opponent resigned. She kept a stern face, shook hands with the umpire and service judge then she fell to the ground crying. Congrats to Marin on her win and props to her for improving on her sportsmanship.

Not a BIG fan of Marin, her behaviour and attitude in court are annoying. She screams all the time. Super noisy! Her tactic perhaps to irritate her opponents to get points.....I reckon she won co'z of Yamaguchi wasn't in full 'strength', with the injury and super tired after her match with ASY. I hope Yamaguchi speedy recovery and will be able to come back alright to win more games.
