Scenes from a pleasant 2-hour float trip in early June on the Mad River from the fish hatchery to the Blue Lake Bridge. Feel free to ask any specific questions about the trip in comments.
It is! But ideal conditions are ephemeral. We rafted it a few days ago, and didn't need to drag the rafts over any shallow spots. But, probably in a week , or two or three, the raft will need to be dragged over several shallow spots.
Yea - the flow is pretty slow most of the time. A few mild rapid areas to keep it interesting though, u can see in the vid. The afternoon winds can slow you down. It's definitely a leisurely float.
so you're OK with those 3 and others rafting on the Mad as long as they don't one-up you by rafting further than you did? Is that what you mean? just curious
I love optimism. It is infectious. Thank you Humboldt Outdoors!
top trip~ 📹

loving your videos Ray. hope someday i’ll take a ride up to Humboldt to take in the beauty once more.❤
Hope you get a chance to do so. We had a higher than average rainfall this winter, so the area is especially lush and green this summer.
Two hours to get from the hatchery to the bridge??? Holy shit!
