Gutted for you there David, it's the biggest concern for all wild campers I'm sure. Looks like you still had a good experience though. When getting my gear out in the morning at home, I usually spread all the gear on the bed in groups, like the tent stuff in one, and sleeping in another pile, to give two examples. That way I can double check everything more easily. Great video. Richard (Lakeland Way guy)
Thanks Richard, yeah I should do that as there is always one thing I manage to forget (I also could do with a check list). Looking back I don't think I'd have completed the route anyway as I had developed a few large blisters on my heels, through hitting the road section too hard at the start, another lesson there :) Also on the way back to Keswick I got chatting to a few people who were doing the Cumbria Way so that inspired me to do that trail the following year. I am still set on completing the hike of the Bob Graham Round one day...
Oh eck ! we know how you feel. We took new tent to Castlerigg at Keswick, only to find we hadn't packed the poles !! We've been back since and had a great time. We are sure that you will too.
"Its half eight now, how longs it going to take me, 3 hours, 4 hours?" -- to get back to the car. 😭 Oh dear! Lol. One to laugh about later, but horrendous at the time. Excellent video though!! Buttermere valley looks amazing!

Cheers matey! Yeah I waited almost a year for the embarrassment to dissipate before I released this video.
Preparation, what you need
Yeah, yeah. Preparation was partly to blame and a last minute bag change... excuses, excuses... We hopefully learn from our mistakes.
