The 3DS and Wii versions of this game are literally just the racing mode. The 3DS versions of all the Skylanders games are actually completely different, and the Spyro's Adventure game on 3DS was surprisingly good.
I bought it on mi Wii thinking I could play a normal Skylanders and my heart broke when I realized it was just a bad Mario kart game
superchargers racing for the wii specifically had really shit graphics.that was the most annoying part. but i did love the driller map that was suprisingly fun and the story wasn't too bad either. i spent hours on that game trying to collect all of the customisations in the game. it was stupidly fun
@@ulisessesilu9313 The Wii version of the game was literally called Superchangers Racing 😂. Personally something looked off to me when I first saw it but I guess it can be confusing at first glance if you don't think about it.

Fair warning for you: Imaginators is a fairly good game, buuuuut a bit of the value is lost compared to Superchargers... I still enjoyed it, but that being said, I also was one of the types that had cashed out on stuff for the sake of collecting.
I personally only played skylanders 1 skylanders giants and skylanders imaginators and while The main story of skylanders imaginators is fairly enjoyable, the after game content (not including the DLC) Was very repetitive. At least, that's my opinion.
I enjoyed Imaginators too for the most part but part of me is afraid that when Jak reviews it, the highest he'll probably give it is a 4/10.

I don't hate Imaginators, but to me it felt like the equivalent of Shrek 3. Not nearly as good as the others, but still enjoyable for the most part.

Before your Imaginators review drops, I'll say this much about it...
While the game was very short and mostly lacking a lot of the stuff from past games even moreso than Trap Team, but the Custom Imaginator Creator feature alone definitely deserves some praise! Being able to create your own Skylander is easily the best part of the game, and it's one of the most amazing things to ever come out of the Skylanders series! I was honestly surprised by the amount of variety and versatility the custom character creator had to offer. I was a little skeptical when it was first announced, but it exceeded my expectations and had so much more to work with than I thought it would! At first I thought it was gonna be similar to the OC character creator from Sonic Forces, but nope, it was WAY better than that! You could customize just about every single detail to the point where you could create your dream Skylander almost exactly how you envisioned it! Not to mention you could also create Imaginators based on existing characters from other fictional series, if you have a creative enough Imagination to pull it off! (No pun intended) Now I know it's not the best custom character creator in video game history, far from it. It's definitely not as complex as say Fallout 4's character creator, but that's an entirely different game. It's still an insanely awesome feature regardless! But just when I thought it couldn't get any more awesome, I remember the limited time offer where you could order a custom-made Imaginator figure based on your own creation, which blew my mind even further! While we could argue that the quality of the physical figures probably wasn't as good as the regular Skylander figures (though the custom figures were contained inside a protective plastic dome, so it's not like they'd get ruined anyway), but just the idea of having your own OC creation being made into an official Skylander figure and sitting on your shelf is just plain awesome, and I'd say the $50 is worth it! The only thing that truly disappointed me about the Imaginator creation crystals, was that you couldn't change your Imaginator's Battle Class as it's a final decision, and I think we all know why Activi$ion made that deci$ion right?... Though luckily somebody discovered an exploit that resolves that problem, apparently there's a neat trick to reset the Crystal, which I think involves one of the past Skylanders games on a different console. It's confusing, but I tried it and it works!
So while Imaginators itself is shorter than most of the past games (though I guess the expansion packs and everything to do in the extended hub-world did help make the fun experience last a little longer, even if most of it was just filler), mostly a downgrade compared to past games, with a lot of things missing (but some new things added to maybe make up for some of it), it's still just as much fun as a traditional Skylanders game should be. As the title suggests, the main premise of the game is to use your Imagination, mainly with the custom Imaginator character creator, and if that was the main goal that the game set out to do, I'd say it definitely succeeded at that!
Not to mention the Crash Bandicoot tribute level "Thumpin Wumpa Island" was 100% awesome as well, and it paved a perfect road for Crash's Remastered N-Sale Trilogy which came out sometime after Imaginators!
Speaking of paving roads, while the game's story was obviously not as well written as past games, but I think the interactions between characters in cutscenes definitely made up for that, as they had a lot more personality than they did in past games! I found them so enjoyable to watch, to me it felt legitimately like a TV show! In fact I'd say it paved a good road for the Skylanders Academy Netflix series, which I personally enjoyed! While the show often gets a lot of mixed opinions, but it's generally a good show for the most part. Definitely better than Sonic Boom, that's for sure. XD
Sorry about that long ramble, sometimes I get carried away when discussing topics like this, especially since I haven't really discussed anything Skylanders related in such a long time, so I had a lot in me that I just needed to get out of my system. We've all been there right?
I can't wait to see Square Eyed Jack's review of Imaginators, even though it probably won't be coming for quite some time. But it'll definitely be worth the wait!

Honestly my only problem with Imaginators is how bad it looks.
The game is decent, it's able to hold its own as more than a bad game, the Customization feature is *I N S A N E L Y* good. The story while a huge downgrade specially just coming out of SuperChargers, but is still straigh forward and works (like in SA and Giants).
But the Cutscenes? Holy shit they look awful even when compared SA. The very first game looks a bazillion times better than everything Imaginators had.
The first time I saw them I knew they were a big stepdown, but I recently rewatched every Skylanders' Cutscenes as a "movie" here in UA-cam, and the jump from Giants, to SWAP Force, to Trap Team, to the beatiful Superchargers Desings was great. And then Imaginators started, dear god wasn't it a huge dissapointment.
My first reaction was: "This game is only 3 years old and it already looks like garbage, I didn't remember it being this bad"

@@jvbon646 Okay I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. True the animation wasn't as high quality as Swap Force, Trap Team or Superchargers, but to say it's worse than Spyro's Adventure's graphics is a bit of an overstatement. To me Imaginators' animation quality was plain okay. I agree that it was a downgrade compared to past games, and I too expected better judging from how good past games looked, but it's not god awful as you say it is, and it's certainly not the worst in video game history. Honestly I've seen WAY worse animation, graphics and cutscenes than Imaginators! It's definitely not as bad as Sonic Boom, that's for sure.
I can list a few other examples if you want. I've seen games that look so ungodly awful they make Imaginators look like a masterpiece! Don't believe me? Just take a look at "Life Of Black Tiger" on PS4! It looks so atrocious that looking at it will either burn your eyeballs out or help you find an all new appreciation for Imaginators! I'm not joking, it's that bad! Not to mention it came out 1 year after Imaginators, which makes it even more unbelievable!

A lot of people are probably gonna hate me for saying this, but I actually kinda enjoyed Imaginators more than Superchargers. My favorite part was the character creation, that took up a lot of my time playing the game, and to me it was time well spent!

In metaphorical terms, the Skylanders series is like a lemon used to make lemonade, one with enough juice to make 4 fresh batches, along with plenty of sugar. But eventually when the last 2 games came out, it's like that lemon was being squeezed tightly, struggling to get every last drop out until there's nothing left and the fruit looks like a deflated woopie cushion... Though that's not to say those last 2 cups of lemonade didn't taste good, which they did. Could've used more sugar though... Okay this metaphor is just starting to get weird and repetitive, but I think you get what I'm trying to emphasize here, right?

SuperChargers proves that vehicle sections can work with the core gameplay with thoughtful execution, unlike Wrath of Cortex where it had a lot of vehicles just because it can.
But despite that, how this game seemingly invalidates previous figures (or rather, making them near useless) is not an ideal way going forward with the franchise.
my friend and I put the rake item on the bridge in the are where the wishing stone well is, and EVERY TIME we went over there we forgot about the rake. Literally not ONCE did we remember it, so every single time we ran into it. And every single time it was funny.
Well the reason why we disliked this game was that the focus was mostly on the vehicles and we just wanted to play as the skylanders. I didn't like how the normal game play took a back seat to the vehicles most of the time. I thought there was going to be a arena for both skylanders and vehicles but sadly it never became a thing so there was no end game content besides the racing. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THEY INTRODUCED MICROTRANSACTIONS. If you noticed, you can buy accessories for your vehicles with real money which left a bad taste.
Superchargers isn't that bad but it basically got the Banjo and Kazooie nuts and bolts treatment.

Reminder: there are instant options for spitfire and hot streak, meaning you dont NEED ANYTHING BUT THE GAME, A PORTAL (so the game can bring up the scan screen to select the instant options), AND A CONSOLE AND MONITOR.

He's probably gonna s**t on Imaginators, isn't he?... While I agree that it's not the best game of the series by a long shot, but I don't think it deserves all the hate it's been getting. It's still a fun game in the same fashion as every other Skylanders game, and while the game itself mostly feels like a hollow shell of all the past games, there are at least 3 good if not great new things that Imaginators had to offer.
1. You can create your own Skylander (That alone seals the deal!)
2. The characters' dialogue and cutscenes are just so enjoyable to watch!
3. 2 words... CRASH BANDICOOT! Like it or not, Crash in Skylanders Imaginators basically paved the road for the N-Sane Trilogy, and Thumpa Wumpa Islands is easily one of the best, if not the best level in the whole game, and it just had that perfect retro Crash Bandicoot feel to it!... However I'll admit Dr. Neo Cortex's treatment was kinda lazy to say the least.
@Alezander2002 I'm a little mixed on that second notion. I'll admit I wasn't a big fan of Eruptor's performance, in fact to be blunt they made Eruptor look like a bumbling idiot, especially in the Sensei Fire Realm. I personally think that Eruptor in the Academy TV series had a more fitting personality and interesting character, but that's just me. As for the other characters, I didn't think they were too bad. Stealth Elf has always been my personal favorite, and just hearing her talk got me excited! Even if her character feels a bit 2-dimensional in the game, I didn't mind it too much, at least she wasn't as poorly portrayed as Eruptor in my opinion. I think some of us can agree that Spyro was probably the best Skylander NPC, even if it's only by default. I will say he certainly likes to hog the spotlight throughout most of the game, which can get a little annoying at times, but at least it fits his character for the most part. Overall I still found the interactions between the Skylanders rather enjoyable, even if the humor didn't catch as well as previous games. Or maybe I'm just saying that because the Skylanders themselves had never socially interacted with each other at all in any of the past games (unless the books count, but honestly who reads those?), which to me made Imaginators seem more impressive when it first came out. But of course that was before the Skylanders Academy TV series came into existence, which changed everything! Even though a lot of people s**t on it, I personally enjoyed it! (Even though it is a little hard to follow at times)

I was mainly referring to how connecting Academy's story to the rest of the Skylanders series' lore can be a confusing task. I believe Academy was meant to be a prequel to the Skylanders games (it's a lot like Monsters University, the prequel to Monsters Inc), but there are some events in Academy that seem to conflict with the games' stories via inconsistency. One example would be Kaos finding the Iron Fist Of Arkus long before the events of the game Skylanders Giants. But I won't write a whole book about it or anything.

@@ricardooliveira562 Well I don't believe there's any direct confirmation on whether if it's canon or not. But judging from what I've seen, the show acts like a prequel to the Skylanders games, in a very similar way to Monsters University (the prequel to Monsters Inc), where Mike and Sully were in college training to become Scarers. In the exact same fashion, Spyro, Stealth Elf and the others are all in their younger/college years, training to become Skylanders. The Academy tells the story of the iconic Skylanders back when they were just students, before they became the legendary heroes we know them as in the games. Or at least that's what I've come to understand.
Something tells me that Imaginators isn't gonna get as high a score as this game, but I won't let that change my judgment of the game. Even a dedicated Portal Master like me is willing to admit that Imaginators has quite a few flaws, but I still loved the game regardless! In fact I think it's the game I've been coming back to the most often, mainly to make more custom Imaginator characters (which I've always had an absolute blast doing), or to replay some of the genuinely fun levels, especially the Crash Bandicoot level! Not to mention I even got the Nintendo Switch version just so I could replay the game, but this time play as Bowser and Donkey Kong! (Which I've never been able to before, except in Superchargers Racing on Nintendo 3DS, which didn't fully satisfy me TBH) Can you think of any other game where you can legitimately play as Donkey Kong inside a Crash Bandicoot world? XD Not to mention the Switch version doesn't have a portal, so you can just scan the figures the same way as Amiibos, which I actually found very helpful, especially if I wanted to play Skylanders on the go! (In a much better quality than the 3DS ports of past games)
Heck I still have my custom made Imaginator figure (which I modelled after Ratchet from Ratchet and Clank) that I ordered back when Imaginators was in its prime, and it's my most prized possession of all my Skylanders! Even if some day I decide to sell all of my Skylanders, I'm keeping that one personally! I have some pretty rare Skylanders, but that one is my design personally (even if it was based on an existing fictional character, I had to customize every little detail to get it as close to perfection as I possibly could), it's literally one of a kind!... I'm just rambling like an old man now aren't I? XD

Your Trap Team review inspired me to marathon this series fully. I never played anything that came after Trap Team, so it should be an interesting new experience. I gotta say thanks for getting me back into this series I love so dearly.

There is a canon explanation on why Traps don’t work in Imaginators . It is explained in the game that some of the villains escaped from the traps got captured and sent to Cloud Cracker Prision again. And were given a choice. Either become a Sensei or stay in Cloud Cracker Prison forever.
When their queen herself defected, shouldn't the Doom Raiders logically have all fallen in line behind her to become Senseis?
Imaginators will feel like a 4kids dub compaired to the other games.

it's kind of crazy how Swap Forces, Trap Team and SuperChargers are all tie together, like Swap Forces teased TT's gimmick, and the story of TT leads into Super Chargers
I'm honestly surprised at the hate for SuperChargers. I always thought it was one of the better Skylanders games, especially where the writing and gameplay variety was concerned.
I never played but for what I see, it wasnt that bad and sounds fun.
The game itself is really good. Most of the hate is salt from all the old stuff being useless, especially after Trap Team made you buy a ton of it.

I know that in your upcoming Imaginators review you're going to mention the fact that you can't reset the Imaginite crystals, which even I (a long time die hard fan) think was just a shameless cash grab and a real dock move by Activision.
However, I'm here to inform you that there IS a way to reset the crystals, though it's a bit more complicated than the push of a button. I once saw a video where if you try to sync a crystal with Spyro's Adventure on 3DS, the game will say there's an error with the figure and ask if you want to reset it, and PRESTO the crystal is reset!
I hope Square Eyed Jak sees this and mentions it in his Imaginators review.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed Superchargers so much. I was a nostalgiafag for Spyro's Adventure and it remained as my favorite Skylanders game no matter what but as soon as I played Superchargers... Hooo boy this game is outstanding. Too bad Imaginators fucked everything up

People just need to get over their "skylanders in cars = bad" mentality. If we can have Sonic racing in a car, there's nothing wrong with skylanders using vehicles to get places. Besides, the vehicles were fairly well implemented. Or maybe these guys have only played the Wii and 3DS games which are only racing games. They're not the same as the Xbox and Playstation versions of the game.

Finally! Someone gave Superchargers a fair chance, and would you look at what happened when Jak gave it a chance? He fucking flat out proudly said this is his favorite game in the entire franchise! Jak, I was ecstatic when you returned to the Skylanders games, and hot damn you delivered perfectly on both games so far (Trap Team is shit and Superchargers is fucking awesome). There are many reasons why you're my favorite UA-camr. You're not afraid to be brutally honest, you can switch from hilarious to serious in a split second, your storyline skits (like Ty and Croc for example) remind me of the awesome B plus movies I love to watch, and you're always showing appreciation for your fan base. Square Eyed Jak, you sir, have a bright future on UA-cam, and I hope you have a great fucking day! Thanks for entertaining!

I personally had to unfortunately stop playing the series after swap force due to financial reasons & a little bit of a burnout on the franchise, but man, after this review I might have to scout some second hand market places to find the three games I'm missing, not really, just turbo chargers and imaginators lol. You genuinely brought me a new spark of interest for this franchise, so thanks mate, much appreciated, guess that speaks for the polish you put in your content, when I legit wanna experience some of that nice shit for myself. I thought this game's level design and story were some of the best in the series but I didn't really enjoy most of the vehicle sections
Glitches at 11:08 can sometimes be fixed by taking the figure off the portal and putting it back on. It happened when my friend and I where playing Trap Team and we kept falling off of the final level and didn't respawn on the actual map but taking them on and off helped. Hope this helps if anyone comes across this issue and this resolves it.
Rewatching this video reminded me of a dream I head where I played Superchargers with some mates though I've never played it irl.

You actually need 11 because you need the kaos trap to capture kaos and complete his quest, and there’s also the adventure pack figures to buy so that takes the total up to:
Spyro’s Adventure: +12 (8 characters, one of each element, and the 4 adventure packs)
Giants: +1 (one Giant figure, and, not really important but in case you didn’t know you can actually play all the Spyros Adventure adventure packs in giants)
Swap Force: +10 (8 swap characters with each swap ability and the 2 adventure packs)
Trap Team: +25 (10 trap master figures, one per element, 11 traps, one per element and kaos trap, and the 4 adventure packs)
Superchargers: +8 (1 superchargers and one vehicle per type, as well as the 4 racing trophies but let’s face it, who the fuck uses the racing trophies? But they’re still figures that let you access more content so I have to count them)
Imaginators: +14 (one sensei figure per element for sensei realms including wild storm and ro bow for the lost imaginite mines and cursed tiki temple levels, crash and cortex for the exclusive level, and the 2 adventure pack figures I haven’t already mentioned)
Minimum total amount of skylanders figures and items required to access everything possible in all 6 games: 70

Im so glad that Jak really like superchargers and give it a 7 out of 10 because I really enjoy superchargers on my ipad its one of my 2 favorite skylanders game ( the 2nd one is swap force because the swap force team are really OP by swapping or not) and also I decided to buy superchargers again on my ps4 this time and decided to complete my superchargers collection by ordering from ebay and play superchargers again and again even the racing too, Thank you Square Eyed Jak for giving this game a better review and making me play this game again :)

It's been a long time since i played Skylanders. I played Giants to Trap Team, and after that i stoped.
But i think i might return to the franchise with Supercharchers.
I mean, all the stuff i need to buy with the game is a new portal, 1 figure and three vechicles. For the rest i can just use all my old figures.
I'm still first going to play Spyro Reiginted. And Doom Eternal before that.

If I wasn’t a complete cheap ass, I’d say that I really slept on Sylanders lol I remember really being intrigued by the Superchargers concept during the lead up to its release. I already like the fun beat em up aspect, but the idea of a decent racing feature added on to it really endeared itself to me and nearly got me to cave in. It’s like my two fave genres being put in a single game. Plus, including DK and Bowser as playable characters got my attention especially. I at least made it a point to get their figures for the amiibo collection.

If you are wondering what the point of the old figures is, it's to replay the Gam on nightmare mode and not want to break shit out of anger
The kaos trap actually is useful in one place the final boss on nightmare mode (this fight is rediculously brutal due to the added attacks and insta kill kaos element bullets and the boss can kill you in 1 - 3 hits)
The reason for the traps don't work in the game after it's year is explained in the tie in comic of Skylanders where it says that Kaos freed all of the trapped villains from the last game to help him attack people then they are captured again and are senseis or get transported to the new prison in Skylands Jak!!!

The thing that I didn’t like superchargers was that I bought the dark pack to have the kaos cup already, because the kaos trap was so hard to get. In 1 week there were 100 in the store and the game for 90 dollars was done in 2 days....

Maybe this is something only I care about, but no one who reviews Superchargers ever seems to mention that BattleBrawl island is the only level in the entire Skylanders franchise where you can change the level's element bonus.
I thought it was a great addition but I guess very few other people do.

Which now that I think about it is an even better addition than the element changer.

Perhaps Superchargers is worthy of a replay? When I played it a few years back I didn't dislike it, but I didn't like it either. I just felt it could've been something more...

Just went on a path watching all ur reviews from spyros adventure to this one and i just want to say ive enjoyed them all.
It's interesting that this your favourite Skylanders game because its the one I was most interested in getting when it was coming out. Now I'm seriously considering getting it.
