These packs have been some of the BEST packs that I’ve ever opened. The artwork is excellent (Probably better than a lot of the junk I’ve been using in decks) and the VALUE is crazy. Pulling surge foils of ANYTHING is a big win. Especially those legendary lands and the one ring.
The parchment paper/ scroll 📜 border treatment is the best framework in years, at least. This is what a Universes Beyond product should be. They look like mtg cards. Doing Universes Beyond with anything and everything is greedy/desperate and it's OBVIOUS to anyone who's not lying to themselves.
@@TheGrickler They didn't quite catch me slippin'. As soon as I knew of a "Special Edition" release around the holidays, I saw the writing on the wall. Since launch, I've only spent ~$150 on a couple of bundles and a few draft 3 packs. I opened 3 bowmasters and 3 rings (2 were from the bundle promo packs), sold off 2 of each, and used that $ to buy the singles that I wanted. So I pretty much have everything I need. At least they didn't just drop this release out of nowhere, and gave a lengthy heads up so we could make educated purchase decisions.
I just wish this had been the original release. Better borders, new cards, more unique art and foiling treatments. All around this would have been better to lead with and then just drop the supplemental set altogether. I admit it, I got played this time.

How many cards did they do that poster version in? I thought it was supposed to only be 5 cards, but you guys have seen way more than 5.
The serialized cards are going to hold value but if everyone has LoTR cards, would people still chase for the surge foil?
The less than 1% chance of a surge foil makes them pretty damn rare as for the chase, makes it worth it IMO.

all depends what people want: regular foil or surge foil? also the production run. Wizards already re-printed LoTR, so the regular version will drop.

The surge foils in general are still a harsh less than 1% pull rate as for big hits… still retains value.

Love lord of the rings but the timing of this release just seams a bit greedy. Still love all the art and concepts.
The silver foils looks horrible they dont even look like foils cards, now the surge foils look better than ever

IMHO, this set just robbed our collections of value, and in less than 6 months has turned cards with actual long term reprint equity into game pieces.
