    My gosh! Best Sketch Up video I have ever seen! Who is the talent behind the program? Such a shame this channel has only one comment, showing that people are stupid...and you guys are awesome!

      I like to think that few comments means that I answered all of the questions. Glad you like the videos.

    I love your videos, they're live saving, also it will be very helpful if you could just make a video on how to install floor joist in the second floor where there is no wall in the first floor and it's a wide open floor..! Once again thank you..!

      I'm not sure they've actually saved anyone's life, but thank you.
      For large spans without bearing walls, try engineered i-joists.

    measure in 5 1/2 inches for 2x6 walls. measure the length of the walls and square up the floor before you chalk out your lines. I like to lay out all my interior walls plus mark out doors and windows. This makes it easy to transfer on to plates without checking the plans plus it makes it easy to mark out overlap plates

    When you make the framing you should check for square when on the floor and lock down with 2x4's place diagonal across framing section(on inner side). After elevating and sheathing you may remove diagonal bracing..This will ensure a square frame so no racking is required with the sheathing panels/frame..

    Can you explain a little more on why I have to leave the plywood off of the corners?

    • @ProTradeCraft
      @ProTradeCraft  5 місяців тому

      Because the plywood needs to extend past the wall to tie into the first two walls that you stood. It needs to extend 6 inches past the third wall's ends,

    Great animation, but why does the stud layout switch from 16 to 24"?

    Could the siding also be added while the wall is still flat on the floor? I'm about to build a shed next spring but on 1 side I only have like 1 foot of space after the wall is in place

    • @ProTradeCraft
      @ProTradeCraft  3 місяці тому +1

      Heck yeah. In order to install the siding, you'll need to trim the edges and windows. In order to trim the windows, you'll need to *install* the windows.
      People do it all the time; it just requires extra thought up front (and it makes the wall heavier.)

    Framer here, ive never seen wall sheathing stood up 8ft always 4ft up 8ft across with staggered joints, locks the studs in better in theory. Is this common in other areas?

    • @ThaHogfather
      @ThaHogfather Місяць тому

      @zachlong7781 From arkansas and ive seen people do that as well. But im sure a lot of standards are based on weather in certain regions. Bc im assuming when u say staggered ur saying at a 45 degree angle?

    what do you do with the 6-inch opening at the top, just below the top plate??

      You mean the strip of wall sheathing that hasn't been nailed in there yet?
      Nail some wall sheathing in there.

    Sheeting should not be straight up and down, but should be left to right, staggering.
