I owned a short wheelbase Mercedes 600 during the 1990's and entered it in the 1993 TARGA TASMANIA rally. It was a dream to drive, fast, and despite its (empty) weight of more than 2.5 Tons it outhandled several smaller cars and sports cars. Unfortunately on the fourth day, a couple of tyres blew out (exploded) during a rally stage in Northern Tasmania, losing some competition time, which rendered the car ineligible for a Targa award. The car finished the five day 2000km event without further incident. By the way, it has air suspension and also brakes boosted by compressed air. Not hydraulic suspension as quoted in this article. The car won an award for being the most spectacular car on the 'Queenstown Roller coaster', a fast windy road between Strshan and Queenstown on Tasmania's West Coast.

They should've ordered from mercedes an entirely new 600 from the factory with the original blue print from the 70s. That's the most interesting thing if they could do it.
I have a 280se 3.5 from 1970 in bordeaux inside and out. Other than the ghastly curtains and roof on the 600 it is very similar inside. Handles, buttons, leather, wood and chromed parts.
@@helmuthhaass3631 obviously, mine however is the W111. The 108 is the 4 door. In that case the top one was the 300 SEL with pneumatic suspension. Like the Landaulet Popemobile.
@Jmpd1117 If it's a W111V8, then you have the 3.5 coupe. I have one too in red, but it has conventional coil springs. The 300 4 door model had hydropneumatic suspension, but not a 3.5 V8 engine. Unless.modified..
I love the 600, but this does not do the 600 justice. Ruined by a interior that just doesn't look right and tacky diamantés.. give a me a fully restored regular 600 any day

‘3 million euros’ is an asinine number for Mercedes to report, and to be repeated, when it’s abundantly obviously not even half that was spent. Even half that amount would be hard to spend on this build.
The front seats are way too cramped for anybody taller than 5' 4". The jump seats either side of the TV look like some form of torture device and the rear legroom doesn't look enough to really stretch out. They've taken a beautiful car and turned into a turd unless you happen to be a touring troupe of midgets.
Interweb reveals that this 1975 was originally delivered to Lebanon. The interior is AA51 Garnet red. This one is a bit over the top but I like it. For me the top of the heap would still be a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI.
Defnitely worth the price!! Thanks for showing this masterpiece!
Thanks for watching!
This is so sick, this is like a dream restomod
Thanks for watching!
A bad dream.
The interior seats look as luxurious as a 1990s mail order sofa.
They certainly were comfortable
Beautiful Pullman, truly one of a kind and great posting. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it

NEVER close the boot lid by hand on a 600! Could ruin the high pressure hydraulics...
I didn't, did I?
@@HorsepowerHuntersYT absolutely not - but I could see you were slightly tempted to 🙂

600 Pullman Landaulet is even more desirable
Kenyan dictators Kenyatta and Moi used to cruise around the country in these.
If money is not the problem but taste is an issue. Three million for "deutsche Wertarbeit" that is long gone. Even 10 percent is overpayd.
I see 3 million spent on a double leather ventilated sofa with a second hand Maybach 62 roof lining
you are blind.
Fabulous for the price, The 600 has always been fabulous ❤

The W100 Grosser is far more spacious inside (and out) than a W108 280SE.

What a beautiful vehicle, pity they stuffed it up as a restomod. Some vehicles can be and should be restomods, this is not 1 of them.
Who knew MB Classic will do up a Resto-Mod 😅
I think this is a rare exception
The colour is "Perlmuttweiß", "mother-of-pearl white" with some shiny metallic effect, not just plain "Perlweiß" "pearl white".
Thanks!

You are absolutely right. You can't buy taste. What habe they done to this beautiful car.
No way should that re trim cost 3m....absolutely NO way
It’s not just a retrim. Complete restoration plus engineering the roof
I rather like that. Not the price though.
Thanks for watching

Special car, indeed... but doesn't sound fuel efficient or Eco friendly from the narrative. Mercedes Benz can do better and possibly get buyers 😊
Who did restoration? Usually if MB did it, would say Mercedes classic center.
Maybe use as a wedding car ??
Yes it was by Mercedes classic center
Thanks, surprised that MB fell off the 'purist' following especially on a Pullman
I'd like to own it.
Buy it!
It's on air not hydraulic suspension
Thanks!

Absolutely. 600s already have the most gorgeous interiors of any automobile. MB seems to have lost its way.
