I saw them last week on the Deserter's Songs 20th anniversary tour. They opened with a fantastic, stripped back version of this song - two guitars, two keyboards, It was remarkable stuff.
I love it when the guitar 'takes off' and the bass follows making it sound like two jacked up hooligans getting into a savage struggle for air and how the drums add to that chaos, but then brings them down to peace and together they all simmer down in a strange, peaceful but intense calm before it all bursts out again….incredible jam….I used to push the volume up on my walkman and during this I would just start running and jumping kicking the air and screaming from the top of my lungs not caring what anybody thought of that scene, such a release...I think that doing things like that saved my life and made me see/feel everyone and everything in a 'funny bird' kind of way….and it is exactly how many people describe me when asked to
Just a great song - Goddess on a highway got a lot of attention but this is the knock out blow of the one two of tracks 8/9 on that album. great slide show too. Hard to find a song like this . . .unique in many ways that is getting harder to accomplish as time goes on.
i like the album a lot overall, but honestly this song is so far above the rest. It's absolutely fantastic. One of those rare songs that is so good it's hard to believe.
Funny bird is with a doubt one of the most mind blowing transcendent pieces of psychedelic music ever created!
The entire album is incredible. This song is like a wonderful icing on a beautiful cake.
Absolutely incredible, this is beyond Pink Floyd level
The bassline tho...

Heart rending emotion...
I wish rock was still on this level.

This song rips me in 2.
I discovered that song precisely when my girlfriend was dying of cancer. Since then, has a special meaning for me.

This is amazing, but Holes is incredible too. One of the best openers of all time.
tension ... and release. Sublime. And the bass in the bridge section is madness
The 'cool ones' know this album. Brilliant.
