- There are common records, and there are rare records. But not every rare record is as rare as another. As you might know there are some records where only 1 or 2 copies are known to have survived, then there are rare records that there are a few hundreds of still around.
I don't know where this beautiful record here fits. It's not stupidly rare, but insanely rare I would say. So rare at least that there is not a single transfer out there on the internet that I could locate. Also rare enough that - to my knowledge - there are not even reissues on vinyl or CD around. The other side (Dinah) has a bit of a flaw, therefore I wills hare you this one. The disc itself plays a bit wobbly as well, but with the overall sound quality I do not care that much.
So I hope you enjoy this wonderful washboard piece that I received very freshly in the mail. Personel according to Brian Rust is
Oswald Edinborough and another, kazoo / Wesley "Socks"
Wilson, piano / Bobbie Leecan, guitar / vocal imitation of string bass / Eddie Edinborough, washboard / Billy Banks, vocals

Finally UA-cam being used for one of the things it was meant for!
I would love to hear the flip of this, if its anywhere near as good as this, it's probably one of the best versions of Dinah put to disc.
Listen to my show Stylus On The Haystack next Monday or in the archives on Mixcloud sometime next week for that
Excellent Beautiful Sublime inmortal The 1932 Rules Forever 🥁🪘❤
Great record and extremely rare but two copies, both V+, were sold via eBay; one in 2014 sold for $214) and one in 2020 sold for $230.
Yep, should be the first publically accessible transfer around. I hope you like it
