  • What's up Foam Fanatics!
In a previous video I talked about different kinds of foam, and now it's time to put those to the test! We're applying three kinds of texture: Aliminum ball, texture cylinder and drawing by pencil.
I learned from this test! So I hope you do too!
And the cylinders used in the video can be bought at the store (more links at the bottom): shop.shiftingl...
Jump in and let's test these foams!
    ---
And check out the Shifting Lands store:
    Guider Pro (World): shop.shiftingl...
    Guider Pro (USA): shop.shiftingl...
    Guider Pro 2.0 (USA): shop.shiftingl...
    Store: shop.shiftingl...
    USA Store: shop.shiftingl...
    Let's get crafting!

Great video! Much appreciated. Now it makes sense why I end up exhausted while working with pink foam, sadly is the only one available in my area :(

If you are in NA home depot now stocks blue DOW, pink corning and a new green one.
Additionally, the NA pink foam comes in at least two different densities, I've seen a lighter foam from them full 1 inch.

Very nice video! It seems the foam type is a very important issue. Could you please upload links to different foam types?

Very informative video. I did a search for the DOW Styrofoam and like to add that DOW is now owned by Dupont. This also lead to a rebrand of "Roofmate/Floormate" to Ravatherm300/500. I hope that makes finding this foam easier for all land shifters out there.

    Klasse Video, super interesting.
I got experience in green, blue and orange. I prefer green, because i think its easier to handle. My blue foam is very smooth, where as the green is stronger. That makes it easier to structure. I use a knife to make deeper structure lines. The blue one tends to make Cracks just using pencil.

for the non euro people can you list the brand/product names of these foam varieties?
In the USA I know about:
"Pink" Owens Corning Foamular. (Home depot)
    "Blue" Dow Styrofoam. (Lowes)
"Green" Kingspan GreenGuard Extruded XPS. (Specialty)

I have a Proxxon and some of your rollers and other tools. My question is about procedure. Would you slice the foam to wall thickness in the Proxxon and then apply texture or apply the texture and then slice to the thickness in the Proxxon? Would thin slice curve under pressure of the rollers? Thank you all your videos.

Roll a thicker block and afterwards slice it to the desired thickness. Yes a thin sheet would curve under this pressure and working with thicker blocks also makes it easier to roll because you have a better grip when roling and thus get more pressure.

      @Shiftinglands  Рік тому
