Right from the start I’m heated! My biggest pet peeve in makeup is paying more for more plastic, the nerve of Rhode thinking they can trick consumers just because they put a tiny amount of product in a big plastic shell. Milk Makeup isn’t perfect but they seem to at least try to have more minimal or reusable plastic packaging.
@@mahzabinrahman solid point, if you’re going to do a custom component with that much plastic you could make it any shape at all including something much more ergonomic.
@@mahzabinrahman this makes me laugh because of the whole “Hailey Bieber vs Selena Gomez” “battle” and Selena made sure she made her packaging easy to open and Hailey totally missed the mark here
“Package inflation” has struck the makeup industry too, it seems! I don’t know how many cosmetics executives read this, but please put smaller amounts of product in a container proportioned to match. For one thing, it fits into my makeup bag so much better for “on the go.” For another thing, fluffy brush blushes (and yes, I still DO use blush; Ive been wearing it for almost 50 years and am not going to give up now), and fluffy eyeshadow brushes are SO hard to use with rinky-dinky amounts of product. Just be honest. You are selling small amounts of makeup. Don’t add the sin of package clunkiness to the sin of omission!
The Hourglass blush formulations and colors are absolutely worth the hype. However, the innovative packaging is a bit of a challenge when it comes to dispensing product! 💕
The squeezy bottle blush you’re supposed to “dispense” right on your cheeks, IIRC? I saw raves about it on Sephora, though who knows how authentic the reviews are. In any case, it’s as if cosmetics companies are doing a Red Queen, running faster just to stay in place (profit wise) as indie cosmetics and drugstore ones up their game, so they come up with this, ahem, “innovative packaging!” I don’t want “innovative” unless it makes things easier.
I use the Ilia mascara because the preservatives in it don’t irritate my eyes, when the vast majority of mascaras do. It also doesn’t smudge and only light flaking sometimes. I do like the wand a lot. There is inconsistency from one tube to the next, sometimes more dry, sometimes not.
I don't have the Sai bronzer, but I have one of the blushes and I love that it's more of a cream/gel formula vs liquid. It doesn't pull up my foundation, it blends nicely and they look beautiful.
The other Ilia mascara is where it's at! I never ever EVER had a mascara that feels so light on my lashes, I literally do not feel it, I rub my eyes because I forget I have it on (it doesn't smudge, btw). Gives both volume and length, hold the curl because it's so light and it's easy to remove, simply 100/10!
I love that you did a thing with JC Penney. ❤ it's where i did my back to school shopping when i was a kid. I should probably check them out again since they're still hanging around.
I have and love the those Rhode blushes. Blends beautifully, great staying power and beautiful for my dry skin. So funny how things work for different people
The mario powder is the only powder Ive found that I feel like actually does what a powder should for me. Most sit on my face weird and accentuate the features I'm trying to cover. So I love it. It's all about what works for you. ❤
My issue with the about face foundation is that the opening is too small for the doe foot! Every time I go to pull the doe foot out, I have to pull so hard to get it through the opening hole and the product flies EVERYWHERE
Those RMS blushes are amazing. I have 1 in French Rose and I want them all. It reminds me of an elevated version of my beloved Essence Pure Nude Baked Blushes. Absolutely worth every penny I spent. I bought mine when Sephora was clearancing them out and wish I would've bought other shades.
I agree with the packaging on the Rhodes blushes, I do really like the product itself though. I have dry skin so I think it works well on my skin and wears nicely
Yes! Products are smaller and more expensive 😣 I won’t be buying any of those. I was eyeing the new NARS lipsticks and they also don’t have a lot of product and their packaging is chunky like the Rhode blushes
Soooo glad you’re trying RMS! It’s such an incredible blush formula. I like their lip2cheek for very subtle makeup days, but get their stipple brush for that formula. It’s worth it.
If you like the RMS Hydra Powder blush I recommend you try the hydra powder bronzer from the same line as well as the Lip2Cheek creams blushes from them

Yes! the makeup by Mario bronzing serum seriously changed my impression of his brand and so many others. I feel so manipulated that they actually tried to sell that watered down nothingness and call it good! Finally someone agrees with me about that About Face foundation. It doesn’t spread on me, like where I apply it wants to stick there and not blend. Yes I prep well, I gave up
If you're looking for mascaras that hold curl I highly recommend Korean mascaras. Most of them are waterproof, so they hold curl quite well. I use the one from Rom&nd, which is lengthening but not volumizing, which is my preference. It does come in a brown, but I can't speak to the quality of the brown shade since I haven't tried it. Also for my fellow waterproof mascara users, I highly recommend the Kiss Me Heroine Make Speedy Mascara Remover. It's basically an oil cleanser in a mascara tube. The packaging allows you to target it so specifically to the lashes that you can easily remove the mascara without getting the cloudy eyes or having to rub aggressively. I just apply it like mascara, leave it for 10-30 sec, massage my lashes gently, and it removes. Leaving it on for those few seconds means it comes off in like 2 finger strokes.
Kelly, I love this series so much! It’s so helpful and informative! I LOVE the Lush super milk! My mom keeps a “beauty closet” at my parents house and us siblings get to raid it every now and again and Super Milk is one of things she keeps stocked on ☺️ I got a sample size of the Ilia mascara and I agree it’s not bad but it’s not super great. It’s average! RMS is a fun brand and the products that I have I really enjoy. Their blushes are so nice. I love Crystal slipper and Mai Tai is so pretty in my opinion! The glow it’s gives is incredible and doesn’t emphasize my texture, I wear Mai Tai all the time. Also their illuminator balm is really pretty. I received a deluxe sample when I ordered it online (long time ago) Ohhhhhh boy the Patrick Ta foundation, yes the undertones are excellent but I didn’t purchase. I’ve watched several videos from my favorite content creators who have the same skin type as me and it’s not a match for me. I have dry skin and it’s gets even more dry in the winter. Maybe I’ll get a sample but I’m not sure. They’re gorgeous to look at. When I was in Sephora everyone was buying that foundation and the Makeup by Mario powders. I did get a sample but I haven’t tried it yet. I haven’t tried the Fenty soft lit foundation yet, thank you for your recommendation instead of the Patrick Ta. I love how the Saie liquid bronzer looks on so many different people and content creators. I’ve had my gift card to Sephora and I’m waiting until the sale to get anything. It’s so hard to wait sometimes but Charlotte Holdcroft said in a video….Don’t pay full price for a product, wait for a sale, the products aren’t going anywhere unless it’s limited edition and something exciting is just around the corner. So I’ve been sticking to that idea for everything! Another fantastic video, thanks so much Kelly ☺️🩷
Yeah when the About Face came to my local Ulta I noticed that the swatches dried my hand instantly so wasn’t taking any chances. & Definitely get why wouldn’t repurchase the Ilia mascara but I’m debating between that one and the tower 28 in their travels sizes. That would be fun ranking video best travel/minis version.
It's so funny that you're wearing the foundation you don't like in this video. My first thought was that you looked great but that something seemed off in the look for you. Random thought, didn't think much about it. When you mentioned the foundation I couldn't help but laugh. I feel like an amateur detective yelling "That's it!!"
people that love the ilia mascara, like myself, are usually already working against many things like sensitive eyes so many of the drugstore mascaras don't work. for a clean formula, it's a very good mascara, love it. and it lasts a long time. i buy elf and essence mascaras too but they don't last as long.
omg I'm so nervous because a makeup artist I follow on here says the Makeup by Mario powder is her favorite and the best one she's found to replace the Givenchy one, even better than the Huda powder, and she says the Hourglass blushes are a complete skip and she can't get them to work nicely unless it's on bare skin but you're saying the opposite and my broke butt doesn't know what to think now for the Sephora Sale lmao. Also saw that the RMS products went on sale on Amazon for Prime Day, so that's great to know for in the future! :)
My favorites have been the UD face bond foundation, and even though it is also newer I can't put down the Ravie Beauty blush in paradise. The ND I need a nude was my most used palette by far since it's release, it is such a staple for me now.
The rhode ingredients doesn't look great (even over the milk makeup ones) and recently milk makeup came up with a killer deal with 5 blushes for the price, also maybe just me but the package makes it looks like kids playdough or poop Personally I have been reading ingredients more for makeup and going over viral makeup after 6 months gives real insight on how marketing is the main reason why something becomes popular. I remember when em cosmetics/blursh/zoeva was all the rave and now no ones talks about a lot of these brands anymore.
Can someone explain the name of Rhodes "pocket" blush to me. It's packaging is so clunky and chunky. What or who's pocket is it goyin? Who's got a pocket to fit it?!!? Before I evensaw any reviews on it, i was like nope just based on tge packaging.
I'm a Realtor but I work at Lush a couple times a month as my fun job! Love Super Milk - perfect for my curls! We came out with the shower gel and the perfume is about to be released as well! We sell so much of it in the shop!
could u do a video about the potential rem erasure from ulta stores? i went to buy a lip stain marker and they said ulta is removing the rem display and only having the wicked collab in stores. i wonder if they will come back after the wicked promos or strictly stay online
Regarding the Ilia mascara. A BIG reason I love it is because I have very sensitive eyes and have tried so many. This is the only one that I have not gotten an allergic reaction to when I wear it.
Let’s be honest you don’t need a huge ass sized blush unless you are constantly doing someone else’s makeup. Most makeup expire before getting used which is more wasteful than paying for a small blush but gets used completely
True, you don’t need a ton of product, but you also don’t need to overpay for little product either or for a mediocre formula. If a product works for you specifically, great, but objective reviews help a lot of people prioritize what they like and make better purchasing decisions.
Whilst usually I would agree, especially as a former mua. But I have to wear a full face of makeup daily for my job (I’m in aviation and it’s uniform standards) which means that I’m wearing makeup for over 12-14hrs some days for at least 5 days a week. Whilst I don’t mind wearing makeup, I also can’t wait to wash it off the second I walk in the door, much like the whole take the suit off and bra off and get in slouchies! Lol. But I have a huge collection of makeup that I have slowly decluttered to family and friends knowing a lot would expire before I could use it all. But I have gone through so many blushes, bronzers, foundation and concealer as well as powders in the last 3 years it’s unbelievable! I’ve had to buy more makeup these days than I probably would when I was a mua! I had a huge collection so I did enjoy going through it all and mixing it up a lot. But I genuinely do go through it all the time even though I have a lot. I think because when as a mature person you find products that work so well for you, that you actually enjoy and make you feel good and feel like you look good, you tend to use those products more than change them to alternatives because you’re wearing it for so long, you want to know you can trust it! So change is not the easiest thing to do without testing it away from that. I’ve used 3 rare beauty bronzers-something I’d probably never do as an mua because I would use a huge variety of products for different types of skin etc.
90% of my blushes are powder and been having them for years lol. One of my hourglass palettes is three years old, and a chanel blush is 5+ years. Im pretty sure powder can last a really long time, as long as it didn’t separate or has weird scent then it’s good to use.
I have dry skin, and the Performer foundation does work for me, BUT I have to let the primer and moisturizer dry on my skin before using it. Like.. put on the primer and make my coffee (grind beans, etc), then come back and put on the foundation. Legit, actually WAIT (which sucks if you don't because it balls up, AMPLIFIES all dryness, etc. The Ilia mascara, I also do not get the hype. The Ilia mascara is good, but the Tarte Maneater or Essence I love volume (blue tube) are better and cheaper. I am now super interested in Super Milk, though, I have dry hair... and.. ooh.
I love the super milk and American cream conditioner ( nice scent). I didn’t like About Face either and I bought 2 of them. 😩 Fortunately they were half off. I hate waste though.
The aboutface didn’t work for me either!! I’m combo oily and it just wore crappy on my skin and didn’t last worth a dang. It made me extremely oily while using a good primer
I was actually not a fan of super milk at first smell. I got the lemon but it lingered veryyyy boozy to me. And I dont find it very hydrating but its surprisingly grown on me 😂and I like to use as a refresher on roots on no wash days.
The Ilia mascara has been a favorite of mine for years!!! I didn’t know it was so popular lol but I’m glad. I love the length and separation, it looks like my lashes are naturally long and fluttery. I also use it to separate other mascaras a bit. I guess we have super different priorities though because my lashes are naturally curly so adding/holding curl is not something I think about at all 😅
Wow so the About face foundation doesn't work well with dry skin either. I mentioned last time about it not working for oily skin. This is what is said last time "I would be careful with the about faced foundation. If you have oily skin at all, even if it is only seasonally, the coverage doesn't last. Within about 4 hours the coverage is nearly gone. It is wild." I don't understand why so many people like it if it doesn't work well with dry or oily skin. Maybe a ton of people have normal skin? 🤷♀
Agreed. I have combo-oily skin and this foundation only works for me if I’m wearing a gel moisturizer and no SPF underneath (I’ve tried the elf and LRP sunscreens, so quality doesn’t seem to make a difference; have yet to try it with any K-SPFs). When I do wear SPF, it separates on my nose and settles into fine lines on my face that I didn’t even know were there. If the shade match were perfect, I could live with it, but the undertones are a little off. L1 Neutral is super yellow for a neutral and with oxidizing makes it more apparent. I’m able to make it work with brightening concealers and bronzer, but it’s not great for me to wear it on its own. 😢
Totally agree with rhode blushes. They blend out into nothing and I totally don’t get it. I loooove super milk,I’ve been using it for years, but my recent buy doesn’t project like it used to before they restocked.
Its the packaging for rhode beautys blush that seems counterintuitive to the pocket marketing. Its chunky and huge with not a lot of product. YES, milk has less in its formula but the size for the slightly smaller amount of product makes it travel friendly compared to the clunky packing of rhode
I hatttte how everyone rips on the Milk makeup bronzers and blushes because they dont look at the amount of product compared to others. Milk makeup is actually doing something here with making the packaging sustainable but people are uneducated and diss on it… they deserve so much more credit!
It's actually ALL about HOW much product one gets for the price. As a consumer I want a reasonable amount of product, pending what kind of product it is, and when it's expected to expire -- in conjunction with a reasonable price.
the issue is the drastic shrinkflation but the lack of a price decrease. i do agree that they get more flack than brands like haus labs that did something similar, but milk is more popular and the size of the component so i guess people care more.
This is true! Milk DOES give you what you pay for, in nice streamlined packaging. Now if they would only bring back their cheek and lip oil, with the rollerballs, that were SO easy to blend. And lay off the rassafrassin’ gels! They are the biggest pain to try and blend, plus, the “cooling” effect is way overrated.
The issue is, imo, that they one day decided to shrink the product without shrinking the price accordingly. The current size used to be their travel size. And I get it-it was a lot of product, it went to waste and people couldn’t finish it before it spoiled. Therefore, shrinking was a logical decision, but keeping the same price? For a much smaller amount of product? I find that icky. Was it really a sustainability-related decision or a profit-oriented one?
The about face foundation isn’t for me either. I want to love it because F2 Olive is a perfect shade match. It looks atrocious after 2hrs of wear. Didn’t work for me when I had oily skin and still looks awful after a few hours even though I have a normal skin type now,
Ohhhhh I thought you talking about REM makeup and I was like ughh 🙄 But then I saw it was RMS and omg I had tried finding it a few months ago to the point where I considered ordering it from their website but still pricey. Looks like Haus Labs dupe now
The About Face foundation was a fabulous shade match.....but the formula was a big nope for me. First it made my skin feel dry and tight, and then itchy.
I hate the performer foundation. One of the worst I’ve ever used. It doesn’t sit well on my oily skin. I tried different primers, different moisturizers, no primer and no moisturizer. So glad I didn’t pay full price.
Right from the start I’m heated! omg I'm so nervous because a makeup artist I follow on here says the Makeup by Mario powder is her favorite and the best one she's found to replace the Givenchy one, even better than the Huda powder, and she says the Hourglass blushes are a complete skip and she can't get them to work nicely unless it's on bare skin but you're saying the opposite and my broke butt doesn't know what to think now for the Sephora Sale lmao. Also saw that the RMS products went on sale on Amazon for Prime Day, so that's great to know for in the future! :)
Can you try the makeup forever hd powders. the colored ones. i wanna know if they r worth the buy
Can you recommend other more affordable lip tints like the wondeskin please?
The missha Power proof Mascara is the one for curl.
My favorites have been the UD face bond foundation, and even though it is also newer I can't put down the Ravie Beauty blush in paradise. The ND I need a nude was my most used palette by far since it's release, it is such a staple for me now.
The rhode ingredients doesn't look great (even over the milk makeup ones) and recently milk makeup came up with a killer deal with 5 blushes for the price, also maybe just me but the package makes it looks like kids playdough or poop
Personally I have been reading ingredients more for makeup and going over viral makeup after 6 months gives real insight on how marketing is the main reason why something becomes popular. I remember when em cosmetics/blursh/zoeva was all the rave and now no ones talks about a lot of these brands anymore.
Your eye look is beautiful. What shadow did you use?
Check her description!
Oh yea 😂. Thank you
1:44 also that Rhode blush packaging is hideous. I wouldn’t buy it for that alone
Love these videos! ❤️❤️
Me TOO! I love this series Kelly created!

RMS runs sales on QVC and Amazon frequently!
Nice
I can still the super milk on you from here.
You can’t escape it even if you tried
Kelly love your eyeshadows. What are u wearing on this video?
I'm not sure if its my mature/dry skin but the About Face foundation looked awful on my skin!! I had the same issues as you did.
could u do a video about the potential rem erasure from ulta stores? i went to buy a lip stain marker and they said ulta is removing the rem display and only having the wicked collab in stores. i wonder if they will come back after the wicked promos or strictly stay online
Regarding the Ilia mascara. A BIG reason I love it is because I have very sensitive eyes and have tried so many. This is the only one that I have not gotten an allergic reaction to when I wear it.
I’m super oily, yes the about face is my current fav foundation.
Expiration dates are CYAs for a company anyway. Especially powder products.
I've been using the same Physician's Formula powder blush for 5+ years and it hasn't failed me yet.
I am now super interested in Super Milk, though, I have dry hair... and.. ooh.
I like the other ilia mascara way better than the limitless.
I love the super milk and American cream conditioner ( nice scent). I didn’t like About Face either and I bought 2 of them. 😩 Fortunately they were half off. I hate waste though.
You need to try the rms bronzer it's just as good as the blush
I'll check it out!
You can still return the about face foundation if you got it during the sale ❤
The Ilia mascara has been a favorite of mine for years!!! I didn’t know it was so popular lol but I’m glad. I love the length and separation, it looks like my lashes are naturally long and fluttery. I also use it to separate other mascaras a bit. I guess we have super different priorities though because my lashes are naturally curly so adding/holding curl is not something I think about at all 😅
Me too! I went to pick it up in Sephora recently and it was out of stock. They said it is the most popular mascara in Sephora
That ilia mascara is the ONLY non-waterproof or non-tubing formula that keeps my tiny straight lashes UP and curled!!!!!
Loved to hear what you had to say. Very informative and helpful.🍂🍂🍁✔️💯❤️🎃👍❗🤎🍂
Omg, I tried the About Face performer foundation..and I took it back. My dry skin didn’t like it.
I tried the hourglass liquid blush on my hand and I felt that it didn’t dry down.
I just hate how big the Rhode pocket blush packaging is. Sooo unsustainable!
I hatttte how everyone rips on the Milk makeup bronzers and blushes because they dont look at the amount of product compared to others. Milk makeup is actually doing something here with making the packaging sustainable but people are uneducated and diss on it… they deserve so much more credit!
YESSS Thank you!!!!
I have really oily skin and the about face foundation separates for me too! It doesn’t work!
Am I the only one that thinks the Lush Super Milk smells like Entemann’s glazed donuts? I love it but always crave donuts! 😂
I have oily skin and also got about face during Ulta sale, it’s a mediocre foundation, not sure why people like it 😮
The about face foundation isn’t for me either. I want to love it because F2 Olive is a perfect shade match. It looks atrocious after 2hrs of wear. Didn’t work for me when I had oily skin and still looks awful after a few hours even though I have a normal skin type now,
I feel like Merit is so highly regarded, but it always disappears off my face😢
Love the Lush Super Milk! Purchased it in Vegas last week and I’ve already used it three times!! 🤍
Ohhhhh I thought you talking about REM makeup and I was like ughh 🙄
But then I saw it was RMS and omg I had tried finding it a few months ago to the point where I considered ordering it from their website but still pricey. Looks like Haus Labs dupe now
I'm very curious how it compares to the Haus Labs!
What about that blush is "pocket?"
RMS RMS RMS ROSE MARIE SWIFT ❤
The About Face foundation was a fabulous shade match.....but the formula was a big nope for me. First it made my skin feel dry and tight, and then itchy.
I bought two because they had olive undertones and it’s so drying. I’ll try to use as a mixer. Fortunately they were half off.
I hate the performer foundation. One of the worst I’ve ever used. It doesn’t sit well on my oily skin. I tried different primers, different moisturizers, no primer and no moisturizer. So glad I didn’t pay full price.
I agree about Rhode. It has no lasting look either. It fades off within an hour.
