    Been using our printer for 3 months now and its been great. We've printed some fun stuff to try it out when we first got it but we've been printing sea drones the last few weeks. Great quality prints. It just wants to be left alone during printing which means I can play on the taz 6's we have!
    Cheers!

      quamenmike2 I was trying to ask you how the printer has worked out for you after almost a year of using it? To comment on it. Has it met your expectations and needs? I just learned about this printer after following Form labs and there fuse1 and when the heck it's going to ship. These guys are way a head of form labs on the SLS entry level market. Is it a good machine has it been reliable? How do you like the parts you get off it. How is the dimensional accuracy? Do you have the 1st version? Thanks for any input.

      @@billb295 yep it was fine the whole time we had it. Then we upgraded to the lisa pro, bigger and better in every way. Print times for a full chamber were sometimes huge as well but overall a very good printer. Quality was good after a sand blast. The pa12 nylon was very absorbent so if using your product near water then some sort of waterproofing would be necessary. We did wait a long time for them to be delivered here in the uk. Hope all that helps.

    After seeing this "difficult-to-print A" coming out nicely with SLS, can we get a comparison video against some filament printer? You could include the highlights of this video (modeling, filling powder, estimated print time, extracting build cake, result; e.g. from timestamps ?t=420 ?=766 ?=1226 and ?=1389). That would become a great reference video I can link to when discussing the choice of filament versus sintering with my colleagues...

    nice video. i was looking at this and Sintratec last year and am relooking at this again and your video may have me convinced. i need to look at costs. is the flexible material easily torn?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  6 років тому

      Not sure about torn, but a small part I folded a bit too much separated, but was still very intact. There's a wallet I have (3D-printed and foldable). It works for showing off, but not something i'd consider a finished part. I'd say order a sample from them with the flex so you can run the tests you need =)

    great video thank you, have you tried spraying any of the parts? is white powder available? or is only grey. great machine

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  6 років тому

      Awesome! I think it's only grey (and black) powder currently due to the technology. Spraying should be quite easy but I haven't tried it. It's nylon, so I assume paint that sticks to nylon-products should work.

    review the Lisa 2!

  • @caveboy9988
    @caveboy9988 4 роки тому

    Thanks for the review. There are very few with in depth hands on footage. One area that’s seems to be a mystery is the time it takes to print. Your print took 12 hours but what’s the print time for a full build? I guess it’s dependent on complexity of model and how many laser paths there are. The Lisa pro states 10mm/hr but that doesn’t correlate with your print.

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  4 роки тому

      Thank you Paul! (sorry for the late reply) In the slicing (at 10:02) you can see how it calculates my model. the 10mm/hr is probably the whole machine (and it needs a bit over/under your model) so it's a bit "optimistic" values. In my single-A sliced it estimates 5hr 24min print time, but the actual print I was starting I believe we orientated it to be a bit taller, which is why it said ~12 hours with all the different steps (warmup/cooldown) included. I think with the new LISA 2, it should be a bit faster but more importantly more accurate =).

    Good review. Manipulating SLS printers, and fumes, are as harmful as the ones from SLA printers?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  5 років тому

      Thank you! Well, it's really more about the dust/particles that stir up when handling the dust. At sintring, there could be gassing as well and I'm actually not completely sure how much that is. I didn't really smell anything at least, but that's no guarantee ;)

  • @lbos6960

    Do you know if you can use other powders on this machine? Taxes to import in my country are high, have to ppay $220 for 1kg

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  5 років тому +1

      Hmm in theory yes, as you can adjust the laser a bit. I wouldn't recommend it at all though, you wan't to keep the machine in prestine condition :). Maybe buy more powder in bulk or talk to Sinterit to work something out. The best is to stack customer orders and you should get a pretty good margin. Customers are usually OK paying for SLS-quality, so the more you can stack, the less unused powder.

    Are those printed parts as strong as those from more industrial large expensive SLS printers?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  2 роки тому +1

      Great question! I think you would have to compare material by material via the technical data sheets to get the best answer. But these are incredible strong parts and should not have any strength drawbacks compared to other grey/black material from SLS-printers. White powder is tougher to sinter and I suppose it also gets a tad bit stronger. But compared to FDM/SLA these are incredible.

      Looking at Sinterit PA12 and 3DSystems white Polyamid:
      3DS- Tensile 43MPa, vs Sinterit 32. 3DS Shore 73D vs 74D. Elongation at break: 3DS 14%, Sinterit 10%. Impact Strength 3DS 32 vs 10 Sinterit. But if you're about to invest in one, please look deeper into the techical sheets and their testing methods. Order samples from relevent materials and try =)

  • @e_Duardus
    @e_Duardus 6 років тому +1

    Good review! the quality of printed parts seem to be much better than FDM printed parts. My question is about time: in comparison to a tipical FDM printer, is the SLS Sinterit faster or slower?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  6 років тому

      Thank you very much! For comparison it's slower, however you can print more models in Z-stacking overnight for example. The heating and cooling down of printer is around 1,5 hours and combine that with a few minutes of clean up it's not the same as just throwing a gcode on a stick and plug it into your Ultimaker or such. It's more similar to SLA/DLP handling of models, but still a bit more due to post-processing. If you're using a professional/industrial FDM system with cleaning/solving supports i'd say it's not that far off in work time.

    • @e_Duardus
      @e_Duardus 6 років тому

      Thanks! I am currently using a desktop FDM printer (Zortrax M200). With this printer, printing a big batch overnight is like playing lottery: warping may ruin the whole print. There are also warping problems with SLS technology?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  6 років тому

      Nice! I really enjoy the M200! But yeah, I know what you mean. We'll, I haven't run the LISA so much that I can talk about the reliability overnight. I'm sure there's a transition period when getting a system, but I'm pretty confident that if you run it well, it will work well :)

Heard some talking about that it maybe due that the company have a new machine on its way, is that something you know anything about, or have any comments about how likely it is, and predictions what the new could be?
    best regard,
    Rasmus

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  6 років тому

      Hi Rasmus, sorry for the late reply! I have no info about any new versions or machines, I couldn't even speculate on what changes they'd do and such. the LISA was great to use and the limits seem to be more related to SLS rather than the machine.
      Any company would probably update their lineup at some point, however I can't suggest to wait or such. Try to talk with the sales persons, maybe they can help you get a better picture of whats going on and if they can help you make a good, long lasting investment.

    i understand that SLS allows us to bring some ungodly designs into reality. that’s all good but how do get that to a production? what process can match up to such complexity? it’s all fund and games until we want to manufacture in bulk?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  2 роки тому

      Well, currently your options are to buy HP machines and just print in production. It's not close to as cheap as injection molding, but your parts price should reflect that if they need the design freedom.

  • @fredmercury1314

    17:06 I would've like to see them use captive bolts so it's impossible to drop them into the powder. Considering that you have to remove those bolts after filling and levelling the powder, it seems like poor design that you can risk dropping something like that.

      The newer ones are more expensive, but I still believe this is the cheapest sls you can own and have good results with. But I might be wrong. It's never really about competing with injection molding, more of a transition and having 1 machine that can do really functional parts in low and medium quantities, and different models each time
