how? what? this is actually incredible. Your transitions are insane, like almost edgar wright level (and i don't say that lightly). Your cinematography is rediculous. Your visual story telling is on POINT. How are you a student applying for the same programs as me? I don't understand. Incredible work! You better get in!
You know what, your work is a film application sample in China, which watched and learned by many of the students who want to make a film portfolio in China. I just want to say, your storytelling skill is such mature. This is not like a student work, but more like an experienced filmmakers work. I'm a Chinese high school student now and I'm filming my own work as well, I hope I can successfully be accepted by some important film schools. men, never give up! you can be somebody!
Wow you are incredibly talented. I hope to see your name on the big screen one day. Quick question, how do you get your sound so good? Is it just the quality of the mic or is something else involved. Thanks!
Looking through other film application videos, yours byfar was the most attention grabbing and most entertaining one that I have seen. Really nice work!
Hello! This is an amazing short. Did you include the music that was presented in this video when you submitted it? I know it’s copyrighted music, I didn’t think that was allowed unless you bought the rights to it. Just curious, I was inspired by a song and don’t know if I’d be able to actually use it as audio. Thank you!
I always binge watch a lot of film school applications and yours is definitely one of the best I’ve ever seen, how did you achieve the shot at 2:23 ? the only way I can think of is you filmed the day part first?
Got up before sunrise and filmed the first part of the shot where the car drives into frame. Then, waited for the sun to rise and filmed the car driving away.
Dude I've seen so many application films and this one was the most interesting so far! I'm an engineering student but I love making videos and films like these. You're inspiring my dude keep it up!
That was great! I loved the simple but meaningful plot and story structure. Can't wait to see what more you have to come. P.S. Which college did you decide to attend?
wow you def deserved to get in, how do you get your wide shots so good? I've mastered close ups and medium shots but can't seem to get the wide ones!!!
Just wanted to let you know, this film inspired my application film. I thought the MoTown driving montage at the start was SUPER dope so I took that as inspiration and kinda built my film out from there.
Anyone else have the thumbnail for the ‘next video’ come up right in the center and totally obscure the last 10 seconds or so? It seems he turned the car around?
I have a question since I'm making a film in the future is copyright music allowed to use in short films you wanna post on youtube/festival competitions you wanna send it too? It might be a dumb question lmao but i really don't know 😅.
some random nights I return here to see that match cut again... 2:20 like did u camp there all night? tape to mark the rough road? did u use ur camera to match it up? did u memorize where the tire stopped to match the rotation of the tire cap? i have so many questions this is beautiful
i love your stuff !! i’m from the suburbs of chicago too and i know my stuff isn’t advanced as yours but you seem really cool and lmk if you’d wanna collab sometime
Question: Can the same video or film sample be submitted for different college applications. For example, can i work on one short film and use it for 3 or 4 applications?
I've always wanted to write and shoot shorts. Great job telling a story with no words. Loved the background effects and the content as well. don't know a thing about it so I just create these crazy UA-cam episodes with one of my alter egos.
I hate to ask the question that shouldn't matter considering its about whats in front of the camera, what lenses for your short films you have been using lately?
Hey, high school film student here... I was wondering how the licensing of the music in this film was done, and if it ended up being very costly. Is licensing cheaper if it's requested by a high school student (because of the smaller amount of visibility?)
It's awesome!! great work! I'm a not a native english speaker. So I can't listen the character's lines clearly. Could you add English subtitle for the movie? It will help us understand it better.
I'm so glad I came across your video. I've been binge watching your short films and I'm obsessed. You are gonna do great things. What an inspiration!! Keep it up.

Dude! Do you have places which help make film portfolio? Great!! Please share contact information!
Where do you study now? 😊
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. I’ve been watching all sorts of application videos for the past year-ish and this is the best one I’ve seen
Damn this looks practically professional. Especially that opening sequences. Smooth af
this walked so the Mandalorian could run
This was like a legit film out there in the cinemas.... Truely amazed.
You're telling me a frickin high schooler made this??? Holy shit this is amazing.
This was fire! You've got a such a unique and punchy style. Loved it. Maybe I'll see you one day at film school haha
You know you’ve made it when Josh Leong comments on your film.
The moment the amber alert switched onto the radio, I was hooked. Currently binging your channel right now. You are a truly talented filmmaker 🙌
Wow you are incredibly talented. I hope to see your name on the big screen one day. Quick question, how do you get your sound so good? Is it just the quality of the mic or is something else involved. Thanks!
It's all about getting the mic as close to the subject as possible.
dude i've been binge watching these for ages and finally a good one. rate this highly
How did you shoot in a fully packed diner? Are they actors or did the owners just let you shoot during opening hours?
J, Ludwig someone please answer!!
Yep, answer pls
he talked about this in another video they go to there regularly so the owners let them shoot during opening hours
I love your color grading! Your stories always have a really good twist also!!!
wow. this was put together amazingly, hoping to see your name in theatres some day! I am an aspiring filmmaker in gr.11. This was truly inspiring. ☺️
Heyy, are you pursuing filmmaking now, after graduating?
@@Anita-qw5zs id also like to know
you captured the pace and time of the events all within minutes!
This is the best application film I have ever seen. Holy shit.
Looking through other film application videos, yours byfar was the most attention grabbing and most entertaining one that I have seen. Really nice work!

How were they able to make this? They got a cop, they got the restaurant to be ok with it, they obviously have a drone. But like.... jeez
Olivia Blackmon I noticed as well lol.
This is impressive, but it's amazing because that was actually quite simple to do
I'm literally editing my video sample for USC and I see this 😂 how am I supposed to compete with this??? I'm so sad rn
This is some Edgar Wright type stuff right here. AMAZING!!
2 minutes in and this actually seems like something id wanna watch 😭😭
How did you film the scene in the restaurant without the people being completely freaked out that you're filming??
Dude I've seen so many application films and this one was the most interesting so far! I'm an engineering student but I love making videos and films like these. You're inspiring my dude keep it up!
That was great! I loved the simple but meaningful plot and story structure. Can't wait to see what more you have to come.

USC
Just asking, has film school been worth it so far? Your work already looks like it’s at the same level of film graduates’ thesis films.
really would've been cool to see the last scene. youtube put up a recommended video that ruins the entire ending.
beautifully shot, film got a little boring for me 4 min in thanks! nice work
h- w- ???? i'm speechless, i don't know what to say. just, wow.
This is so good! Could you remove the endcards though? They block the last shot and kinda leave a sour taste in the mouth because of that
wow you def deserved to get in, how do you get your wide shots so good? I've mastered close ups and medium shots but can't seem to get the wide ones!!!
Just wanted to let you know, this film inspired my application film. I thought the MoTown driving montage at the start was SUPER dope so I took that as inspiration and kinda built my film out from there.
This so great and i love it , definitely looks like a quality movie scene xd 😁😁🤗
woah super impressive work! hard to believe you're a student, this looks so professional
Anyone else have the thumbnail for the ‘next video’ come up right in the center and totally obscure the last 10 seconds or so? It seems he turned the car around?
my god did you use an arri alexa or something the quality is as good as most films, also the transition at 2:23 is amazing
I have a question since I'm making a film in the future is copyright music allowed to use in short films you wanna post on youtube/festival competitions you wanna send it too? It might be a dumb question lmao but i really don't know 😅.
This made me smile. Amazing job well done!!
oh my gosh, liam wow. you are just such a wonder like i wish emily was this talented. if only....
shoutout matt doe he chill
hmu sometime doe
Really awesome content! Saw you at MMEA you seem dope. I'm wondering how you shot in such low light conditions.
I try to use all the available light I can find (In this case street lights) and shoot at a wide open aperture whenever i'm in a dark setting.
Geez how much did you spend on that? I’d kill myself (kidding) if you don’t get in. Btw, what gears did you use??
Can you secretly tell me if you get in or not??
Excellent. Unfortunately the key shot of the entire film is covered up by an ad for the next film. Is there any way of disabling this function?
Superb narrative filmmaking. Minimal dialogue. Strong storytelling through visual choices. Congratulations on a great job!
some random nights I return here to see that match cut again... 2:20 like did u camp there all night? tape to mark the rough road? did u use ur camera to match it up? did u memorize where the tire stopped to match the rotation of the tire cap? i have so many questions this is beautiful
Started shooting before dawn and camped out until the sun came up.
THIS IS EPIC
this is incredible
this oozes with style, dude.
As a kenosha resident this is cool and weird at the same time lmao
Give me a holler if you're ever looking for music!
I love this video! Which website did you use to create the thumbnail?
damn. incredible
Why's the title SHOT GUN?
Love love love
i love your stuff !! i’m from the suburbs of chicago too and i know my stuff isn’t advanced as yours but you seem really cool and lmk if you’d wanna collab sometime
It is incredibly engaging. Love how the music matches the scenes too
Beautiful.
Holy shit dude this is so ridiculously good it's unbelievable! So, where did you end up deciding to go?
Did you use a DJI drone for aerial shots?
Awesome dude. Good luck.
It’s giving ‘Raising Arizona’

this is amazing!! keep it up!
Thank you for raising the bar.
can someone tell me the name of the second song used (3:25) the first if runaway baby right?
I hate to ask the question that shouldn't matter considering its about whats in front of the camera, what lenses for your short films you have been using lately?
50 mm and is my favorite focal length. Also used a 24 mm a lot on this project for the wider shots.
HOLY MOLY man your shots were so creative!
I love this so much the ending is amazing
Hey, high school film student here...
I was wondering how the licensing of the music in this film was done, and if it ended up being very costly. Is licensing cheaper if it's requested by a high school student (because of the smaller amount of visibility?)
Aww the bab
Congratulations! I got into both school as well. Which one are you leaning towards?
Committed to USC
Ladies and gentlemen we have our next Edgar Wright 🔥
i love your short but how are you allowed to use music so it won’t be copyrighted?
Sorry to ask you, but what camera do you use for filming?
Btw, you're so good looking omg. 🥺
Can someone please explain the plot to me? I think I might have a grip on it, but I’m not sure.
wow, very well done!!
has anyone ever said your camera work is like edgar wright?
Awesome work! What song is used at 3:24?
why the name shot gun? great film though!
It's awesome!! great work! I'm a not a native english speaker. So I can't listen the character's lines clearly. Could you add English subtitle for the movie? It will help us understand it better.
You are so awesome and professional! Why do you even need to go to a film school?🔥🔥🔥
loved this! the music was great lol
I'm so glad I came across your video. I've been binge watching your short films and I'm obsessed. You are gonna do great things. What an inspiration!!
Keep it up.
Did you shoot with one camera? And what camera?
What was ur extra curliculars
I see the Costa Rican beer cap😳

Professional......how....crazy.....
I like this one and the other one The Story of Her. Both are so professional!
A real Baby Driver
So this is the level 😳
Drone camera?
Fucking awesome
reminds me a lil too much of the short film ‘Real Gone’ hahaha
Cool use of filming in public!
So cutest adorable bébé.
