So I asked him to explain . I had to ask , what mode is it in ? He replied , " valet " . Boy, I was in awe and said to my self , " I wouldn't even want to know what would've been like . " A day I'll never forget !

I used to work at a Corvette specialty shop..Used to cringe at certain model years when they came in..Loved the early model years. Such character and uniqueness. The C4 used to drive me crazy because even as a teenager the giant frame rail You have to lift Your leg over when crawling in or out was a serious engineering problem that they fixed marvelously upon release of the game changing C 5. Hydroformed frame, LS architecture, alot of bang for the buck. Still a great budget chassis if You wanted a straight line missle or a canyon carver. THE ZR 1 LOOKED THE SAME AS THE REGULAR C4 BUT ITS ENGINE WAS ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING FOE THE ERA. CONSIDERING THE NEW DOHC engine will be what the original engineers wished they had the money and corporate OK to do back then.
I had a 1995 ZR1 automatic, I stomped on it at 80 mph, the car went totally sideways & launched across 3 lanes of the Freeway, did not crash, but nearly crapped my pants. That car is gone ! Lesson - learned? Good soft rubber tires will save your life . My tires were old & hard- but great tread. It ain’t worth your life for the price of new tires

I didn't like the digital gauges (on the C4) when it came out, but I think it's kind of cool now. I still prefer dials over digital or bars for rpm, but like having digital and dial for speed.
I have a 2017 C7 ZO6 700hp but had a 91 C4 for 18 yrs and regret selling the car so now trying to find a C4 ZR1, and it looks like your enjoying the car. Beautiful car Chief!!
Goddamn do I love that whiny ZF first gear. I have a '93 normalvette, probably one of the last built with the black-tag ZF box, and I've gotten *intensely* familiar with that sound in the last 2 months.
A family friend was the first in our area to own one when the came out. Took me for a full throttle ride up a main street in our neighborhood. It was exhilirating to say the least to a 15 old. Unfortunately he put into an off ramp side rail a few months later.
Nitto NT555 G2 in the stock 315 width that came on these cars. It’s a summer tire. This video is the best example of a rolling burnout it can do. Or I can just dump the clutch at 2.5k rpms or higher and it lights them up with ease.
@@kylec4zr1 Heck yeah! I have the same tires, NT 555 G2s in 315 on all 4 corners of my 1989. My L98 has a lot less power than your LT5 though lol. I am trying to get an idea for how much power/torque is needed on a C4 with a 6 speed to get the rear end to break loose in 1st or 2ndt gear from a ROLL with only the gas pedal, no clutch dump, so that I can inform my build hp/tq goal numbers. When you went WOT in 1st gear at 20mph, as in this video, would you say that you just got a little chirp and a little bit of traction breaking, or would you say that it truly broke loose and the tires spun?
@@chenlmax bunch of factors matter... my tires are fairly new. In this video it didn’t hook up until about 40 or 45 I’m guessing. you can hear the tires squealing in the background. This was a cool day on a crappy road. A warm day and a nice clean road it would probably hook right away. I have the stock 3.45 gears as well- 4.10s would make it easier to spin initially. The LT5 makes around 300-320 torque at the wheels at 2500rpm which is about 20mph with the stock gears. Hope that helps!

86 was the first year for ABS in the corvette, 90 was first year for air bag, drivers side only.

Thanks! It’s actually a ZF transmission, it was the best option for a 6-speed in 1989. F-bodies started using the T-56 in ‘93.
