Thank you for this comparative review, well done! I've heard on another YT channel, that the sound stage is larger with the ELAC than the Klipsch, what are your thoughts about this?
Nice breakdown. So you've spent time with these, which did your ears enjoy, which would you spend your money on??
After 50 years of active interest in audio including designing everything from horns to dipoles, this may be the finest subjective review I've heard. Thank you!
PS: Now to convert everything into a bar graph!
I think you meant to say the finest objective review. He showed no bias or favoritism toward any speaker.
@@wg5768 When I hear objective review, I think of reviews solely based on statistics/measurements. What he gives are his own subjective opinions and so, I too, would say its a subjective review.
I like the Sound Artist just because it looks so good and so damn unique, LOL. It seems all the speakers sound "good", and so at this price point I'd choose the speaker that looks best, especially if put in a den or family room for casual listening.
What id like to know is how these compare with the famous ls50.
Since I'll be using dual subs (left and right, in stereo), I want the best performer from 80hz-up. Likely BR03.
hifi trucker that’s exactly my set up. Br03 plus a pair of Rels.
@@jaytorr6701 I have dual svs SB3000 subs. Awesome for music.
@@paulgolub6823 Jesus. Thats a lot of power lmao. I have one SB-2000 and I feel thats plenty.
hifi trucker BR02
@@drwavedawg Yea, possibly. My subs will be Rhythmic Servos, 12". I have to consider if the BR02 can keep up.
The best speaker is the one that sounds best on the individuals room size 'accustics" and indivuals amps they use ! I'm taking a new direction
Absolutely positively specifications looks what anybody else has to say makes no difference at all it's the type of music you like the way you listen to it what you going to connect the speakers to the shape of your room many things involved I don't buy anything on opinion I listen to it with my own ears on my own equipment in my own Listening Room.
@@Mr.Robert1 you on the money my friend !
How would KEF LS50s compare to them? (As they also fall under the
I can compare them directly to the BR02 and RP-600. The KEF LS 50 have more details from low to high frequency. They also have the tightest and fastest sound. For instrumens I actually slightly prefer the BR02 over the KEF and the RP-600 make everything more" fun" I'd say music is a bit more forward. But but bass and mid range is more detailed and faster also high range is frequency is way better on the KEF.
So yes I prefer then KEF LS50 over the 2 others for most music if you only listen to instruments or vocals and ur budget is low take the BR02/03. For everything else KEF LS50.
And yes I don't like the Klipsch RP-600 at all anymore compared to others mid-range can sound a bit "metallic" compared to the other 2 speakers.
I appreciate the review as it had two speakers I am personally considering (ELAC Debut & Triangle Br03) but would really like to see your take on Q Acoustic's 3030i as it is a speaker (based on previous reviews of the 3020i and aesthetics) which I am very much interested in. Keep up the great work!
You have given us a very good basis to compare. As for me, midrange rules: if a speaker is neutral to somewhat warm and plays with dynamics and fairly low distortion then I'll put it on my short list. The highs and lows only have to be good enough not to distract from the midrange. Bass emphasis and overhang and metallic-sounding treble kills the deal for me. I don't place that much value on soundstage. I'd rather hear why the musicians are on stage or in the studio than where they are placed.
I like you. You know what you like and do not like 👍 rock on
Have you considered Zu audio? Reviewers say they midrange bump which might be to your liking.
@@rbsorg I'll wait for the next Dirty Weekend deal. They have enormous midrange presence and dynamic life if not the most refined treble.
I really like my Triangle BRO3 speakers. The treble can get a little harsh with certain gear, at times. But hooked up to my Fisher 400, the radio, phono preamp, they sound amazing. I've noticed especially amazing with sparse material. Listening to jazz records like Kind of blue, or Something Else, Cannonball Adderly, Fantastic! I mean really Fantastic!!
would you recommend a warm sounding Receiver with them, I'am looking at the Onkyo TX RZ50.
BRO3 is my main speaker now too. It is really clear and honest with horns, drums, guitars, voices. It does stand-up bass well enough for a super coherent and engaging jazz experience. It's honestly quite good with big very well recorded/mixed rock like TOOL and Polyphia (guitar and drums are excellent. Clear with great dynamics). It's great at lower volumes but does well into the 90db range. Engaging and really clean.
Jay I would take any of those! Great review man, great price points.
Nailed it. These are all excellent speakers.
must be nice to have under a thousand as affordable lol :)
Gershman for the win lol ooops not under $1000... ok next should be a Gershman Vs Esse Quardro vs Harbeth 30.2 shoot out.
Need the Totem accoustic Fire V2 in that fight
I like very bright sound!! Lol. I Like the contrast between the TS, TS, TS and the BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, of the Treble and the Bass, soeakers with not enough Bass or crisp and high Treble are not for me, I don't like Warm Sound.
How would you compare the Sound Artist to the Tekton Lore?
Hi Jay, are you saying the Triangle BR02's are brighter sounding than the BR03's? Some other reviewers like Zeos have said the opposite is the case. I've heard some good things about these speakers but I'm not sure which of the two would be a better pick - I don't like excessive brightness / harshness / sibilance at the top.
Dear Friend, greetings from Sunny Republic of Georgia. Have a small question, for small 15 sq.m room, which one do you recommend: Triangle Br03 or Elac Debut Reference? (Amplifier yamaha rn 803, music listened: rock, blues, electronics sometimes). Thank you so much 😊
It's time for them to make a Bro4 with 8" driver.
I’m going for the triangle br02 👍🏼
Currently on the Tekton bug. They offer so many speakers. OB Sigma looks like the sound signature I'm looking for. But I see you have the Lore Reference which was said to be detailed but a little dry. I like speakers with a wide sound stage with depth and height. More of a intimate sound. Hopefully more Tekton reviews since they seem like the best bang for buck.
Good review, I appreciate comparisons. I use the same speakers for music as I do for occasional 2.0 TV and movie viewing. While I loved the Triangle BR02 for music (even at low volume) I couldn't follow movie dialogue (unless I cranked them up, and even then). Sounded like there was a wool blanket over them. Since you don't mention how these speakers compare for dialogue could you please comment on this as most people won't have the luxury of owning separate dedicated music and movie setups. I know of, and have owned, speakers that can do both very well but are unfortunately in a different price category.
When I say "articulate" or "forward sounding" ... That is usually good for dialogue in movies...
I own the Klipsch RP 600M and they're CRYSTAL with dialogue. They sound just like the speakers at the movies. That said, I'm not in LOVE with how the Klipsch present music. Detail and bass is delivered in spades. But they just lack warmth. All things considered, if you had to own one speaker for EVERYTHING then the Klipsch are awesome.
pretty sure the BR03 will do better in that regard
Triangle borea br 03 vs Dali oberon 3 with marantz pm 6006, please.? Thank you.
You are a very very good reviewer. This was very helpful for me, thank you very much.
No love for KEF Q350?
Shoot you can get a pair of LS50's for under 1K at this point too
Ya
Q350 should've definitely been included in this video.
Great comparison cheers! The Triangle are on my shortlist, any idea where the Wharfedale Diamond 11.2 or Jamo C93II fit in your shootout? :D Thanks.
Elac Debut Reference very good speakers! Elac made much better than Triangle. Because Triangle made extremely cheaply, like Focal and Dynaudio. Catastrophic cheaply and bad made. Elac on of the best speakers for price, but no best. Because best speakers up to 1000-1500$ - Indiana line DIVA 262. Indiana line DIVA 262 absolutely amazing speakers!
Awesome comparison! Are you able to add Tekton Mini Lore Monitor to the mix? Have you tried them?
Since you also have to look at them I have to say the sound artist looks too clunky. The klipsch kind of cheesy. Hate the bronze woofer. That leaves the ELACs and Triangles as the only acceptable ones from a visual point of view.
You are a picky one arent you ! I love your feedbacks tho
So I need to get some new Bookshelf Speakers and was very seriously considering the Klipsch RP600M , however you bring up a really excellent point about the bass port...in my application I have two issues....1) the shelf is only 9 1/2 deep and I most likely will have to have the speakers back up against the wall.....What do you think? Again, floor standing is NOT an option

with my $$$ I voted ( couple years ago ) for the ... KEF Q 350. review - the normally high end oriented ' stereophile' ( google ) direct compare with the Audio Media darling KEF LS 50...... I did buy a sheet of real oak veneer $50. to cover the ugggleee black vinyl. real good, question being how long the pre glue sticks to original vinyl....??
PS. Amp - the Maggies. ( and Elacs ? ). less efficient, need + 3db in power - that is twice as much....?
the 'Sound Artist'' separate review is very positive. the choice here.
Correct, for every 3dB increase in loudness you double the amplification power. 86dB @ 1w, 89dB @ 2w, 92dB @ 4w, etc...
SVS Altra would be the winner in this class for all around sound. Why don’t we see it here
I’d like to hear the sound artists but you have to buy them to hear em.
Mark Donen, I have just seen this video and like you would like to hear the SA speakers, I just wondered if you are in the UK as I don't seem able to find a stockist
Hope you get more SoundArtists speakers to review. The ones with wooden horns looks interesting.
*Ahem* Didn't you say something about a Willsenton amp review coming up soon?
Soon !
Well I found your channel today. Scrolled through several of them. Nice, nice work, very happy you are on youtube! Seems like Klipsch is almost turning into the Bose of modern times. People love them or can't stand them, and Klipsch owners swear by them. While I agree Klipsch do sound really nice, they are imbued with "Klipsch" sound, which is nice but not necessarily accurate but are nice, forward and "lively." I know too little of the others to comment; other than Elac, which I own both Klipsch and Elac...Completely, agree that the Elacs are laid back. Overall I prefer the Elac, but I wish they had just a tad more volume capability. I end up stressing the Elacs a little too much trying to get that "rock out" sound I may want to hear sometimes, and even on jazz a piano can stress those Elacs.
My Diy Fe 206 EN will beat these speaker under 1k range
Jay, love the idea of comparing these speakers, I’m in the market and looking at all except sound artist. It might have been clearer to review one speaker at a time and discuss how it compares to the others. I started to get a little confused but that might be me lol.
Each review is in the description
The Next Best Thing Studio but not the comparison
C’mon Jay, the Kef LS50 retails for $900. Surely they deserve to be considered against the speakers you reviewed here..... Don’t run away, Jay! Feel the love of the LS50...... Compare the love..... Love the love!
Hi bro great review out of the klpsch n sound artist which is nicest on voice and match with tubue
Although I appreciate the comparisons. But to say affordable “1000$”. Are all you audio people made of money or you eat only Ramen to buy audio gear? Lol.
Jay, your thoughts on PSB P5 vs BR03 vs Q Acoustics 3020 for Mariachi music, strings, horn and voice. In case you don't know Mariachi music, like this - ua-cam.com/video/8NWSWg7c0Ec/v-deo.html or this ua-cam.com/video/tNUqAYUlHd8/v-deo.html
Great job in regards to your input on nearfield and etc.
The one that pairs with my amps synergy best 😆 Thanks Jay , Appricate all your hard work for us all , your going to go very far in the audio hifi world love the enthusiasm , back in my day,
i only had a local
Radio shack and their audio did not sound REALISTIC 😆 But i still rocked it ! Minimus 7 speakers weren't to bad for the bang 4 the buck ! keep it rocking !!
Should have put the martin logan 35 xti
Please review the Tekton Lore reference. I would love to hear your opinion. Thank you
Soon my friend. Soon
Thank you so much. There is very little content out there on these speakers.
LRS in small to medium sized room space , playing (full range ) Bob Marley and other bass and dynamic heavy music??? Impressions vs others here ?? Opinions???
I'm looking and all these speakers are in the running, however I just heard Magnapan speakers and even at low volume the blue me away. What do you think.
Jay great breakdown I have the Klipsch 6OO's and they are amazing as mains, however I almost went with the Elacs
I have elac ub5, 600m, 280f and jbl studio 580. I'd probably take the jbl out of them all because the bass is deep and the soundstage is best with the JBL. Jbl and elac are smooth, Klipsch is lively and concert like. I think jbl sounds most lifelike with pianos. But you can easily own all 3 because they're all different but at least Klipsch and one of the other are very different. You'll understand if you ever try one of the other.
You know what I did? I bought both the Klipsch and the Elacs. You ready for this? I also bought of all things, the Sony SS-CS5's. I had to. They were on sale on Amazon for $73.00 for the pair. You would be surprised how good they sound. So what I do is rotate the three sets. I change em out about every week or so. They all have some different to offer. It's like a guitar. Ya can't have just one guitar.
Incredibly confusing comparison. King of Tone, but the other one is better - so it's the Emperor not the King?
Vote for dbr 62 from me, i like laid back warm sounding speaker. But what about placement? Can elac play wright at 20 cm for rear wall?
are the Triangle's forgiving? I am playing all kinds of music and lot's of bad sources such as compressed mp3s and how are they on vocals for movies? I have heard that having too high resolution can make a lot of stuff sound bad, so it's better to get a speaker that is easier to listen to.
ELAC should not be here. their drivers are made of pot metal and glued together by a 2 year old. terrible quality. finishes are badly glued on as well.
Why should anyone spend 1000 dollars on this
I know is getting ridiculous, I been thinking for a long time to go, diy , Elac is the only brand that offers good ratio price performance, the mark up on other brands is just rediculos
Jay just purchased the RP-600m as for center should I go with RP-600C or the 4 woofer version rp-504 something like that?
Have you ever reviewed Swans? I picked up a set of their M300 mkII and I would to hear your feedback on them.
Here the triangle bro3 is £150 cheaper than Klipsch.
I'm in France and the Klipsch ended up cheaper... by a huge margin. I got the Klipsch in a combo deal with a Yamaha RN 402 amplifier for 600€. The components bought separately would run me 1000€. And the deal is still current... but for 700€.
Jay Nice video thanks for laying it out for us. based on what you said i have to go with the BR03's they would best suite my listening style. Brights fun but it gets old and yeah it's more then just the highs and lows its the over all tonality and warmth of the mid-range. Thanks and Stay Safe..
Glad you made a choice
Since there are some Canadian roots here, why aren’t Paradigm speakers ever considered in these reviews?! Just noticing is all
Please! Faça Review das Dynaudio Evoke 20 e compare elas com as Dynaudio 40s e KEF R3.
Tried all of these (and others) Ended up with Swan M300
Interesting. Care to elaborate on your choice? Thx
I'd buy the Tekton Lore Reference.
Plan to get monitors for small room (TV) : foud those with the same price tag mint conditions: Elac Debut reference, Sonus Faber Principia 3, Klipsch RF-160M or Dynaudio Excite x14. Sonus Faber?
Jay. Thanks for the good work your doing. My question is can Hegel H 90 go with Klipsch 600 m ? What is your take?
Id go with tubes but yes... H90 would work
In your face or laid back sound - which is better? Think about the prices of concert tickets, you will get the clue.
Cheap amp for the bro3 please ?
Iota VX SA3
Denon PMA 600NE
Front ports all day
Hey Jay so good to see something completely different (sound artist) than a lot of other speakers you see floating around UA-cam land. Also if be interested in knowing which speakers suit certain types of music (electronic, jazz, rock, ambient etc) or even particular songs. Cheers for all your hard work
I kinda given up on this as I realized that two people with preference for jazz might like totally different sounding speakers.
I think it's kind of a misnomer to call the Klipsch bright. They're lively and dynamic; being that I think they are also the least smooth. The more efficient, it makes sense, will most easily find flaws in source material. Because Klipsch aren't really bright and the treble is quite nice and clean. If anything is hard with the Klipsch it's the mid-range which can easily get edgy. The bass can easily get boomy but I have never heard a problem with the treble of the Klipsch 600m or 280f or the big center the 450 is it? ATM, I am only having problems with the Klipsch mid-range getting voices without any chestiness. I think it might be possible but it isn't easy to get that mid-range just right.
What would be the best choice between a Klipsch, RP-150M and a KEF Q150. They would be used in a Cambridge SR20 receiver.
Thanks for helping!
Ty for this video.
Yes, I want lively for heavy metal...screaming guitars!
Which speaker paired the best with the Wellsenton R8?? That's what we need to know 🥺😌
where would the svs ultra bookshelf fall in relation to these speakers? anyone experienced any comparisons with them?
Triangle 👍
What about the Bowers & Wilkins 606 S2 Anniversary Edition?
For those that have heard the Debut 6.2 and the Debut Reference, does the reference series have more perceivable bass output / lower extension? The freq. specs are the same on paper, but they were the same between the first debut 6.0 and 6.2, and the 6.2 is much leaner. I like the overall sound characteristics of the debut 6.2, but I want a more visceral low-end. I like bass. For now (living in a relatively small apt in NYC) I'm not getting a sub.
What about the PSB Imagine XB
The soundartist speakers are interesting, now Klipsch cant say they are the only Horny speakers.
are the a Chinese brand? hows the build quality? and last question is that faux wood wrap?
Their whole line looks decent 👍
Triangle Titus EZ is also under $1000 and should best all these.
If you're getting a bookshelf, don't even plan on not getting a sub with it. Considering which has lowest bass is about like which gas sipper car has the most ability to be a racecar.
B&W are Left Out..DM Series are under 1k...So are Some KEF Model's
Great video Jay. You are saving people time and money shopping for home audio. Maybe you can help me. Upgraded my speakers last year to revel concerta 2 m16 I will keep this the rest of my life. It's time to give this speakers proper source. My Sony avr sounds pretty good. What's the difference in sound from a 1000 integrated amp say iota stack. Hagel h190 4000 dollar integrated amp. Can the iota do 70 percent of h190 sound wise. Thanks
If I must quantify in numbers ... I do not think iota can do even 50 percent of what h190 can do.
One good looking speaker here: Sound Artist.
Lore Reference lurking in the background! Lol
So funny that you mentioned that I have been doing research on which Tekton speakers to get. OB Sigma looks like the sound I'm looking for but no reviews.
@@randalllawkin thought that also. Talked to Clayton from Spatial Audio. They make excellent open baffle speakers. He seems to think the ob from Tekton is a little convoluted. The key to any of these is to take advantage of the in home trials. I'm between the Lore Reference and LRS. If I had the $ I would try out the $3450 Spatial Audio speakers. Got great reviews on YT. Now a days can't really go to far wrong. How about the small triangle speakers and dual svs SB3000 or Rel subs. So many choices. Time $ space and WAF. LOL
@Randall Lawkin
Hey, Randall. If it’s within your budget, I’d try out the Pendragons. They’re big, efficient, and can really work in any size room. They sound magnificent at all volumes and remain very detailed. I auditioned many spkrs going up in price to over $15K, then heard a pair at a friend’s house, and knew they were for me. I’m sure you’re aware that Jay did a fantastic review of them and described em to a tee. Just a thought, cuz I know how difficult picking out a new pair of spkrs can be. Good luck!
@@paulgolub6823 lmao yup exactly I showed the wife the Triangle Bro3 she loves how they look. We are remodeling our house so I figured I would entice her lol. I think it's working.
@@NickP333 thanks yeah I saw the Seas Pendragon and wanted to know how much of a difference it will make. I'm a buy it once type of guy until it's dead, then replace. Wife listens to dancehall/reggae music and for myself I listen to everything on depends on my mood.... Wife thinks I'm old lol. But mostly Hip-Hop instrumentals, r&b, classical, jazz, Latin, Celtic, rock....... Etc
Are there any active speakers that can compete with these for movies/music?
Elac
None, all can't compete with ESS.. you want a good speaker for your home audio system? Then buy ESS
Ok there ess fan boy. I see you 😉
I'd like to hear the sound artist 15" model they do, might be interesting any chance you're getting a pair. And comparing them to klipsch or tannoy
So many speaker reviews. More amp reviews, please!
Soon my friend... Soon...
Keep teasing with them tektons..🤣
'Damn' fine review, thanks.
English disclaimer!
Can you do an update on this video? 2022
If you have to match a subwoofer to tbe Klipsch RP600M, what would you recommend?
SVS PB2000 Pro is simply the best bang for the buck in terms of all around usability, music or home theater, it's an incredibly versatile speaker for the money. And the app managed DSP? It's a no brainer, nothing else comes close for under $1,000. A cheaper and similarly musical option is the RSL Speedwoofer 10s $400 - doesn't go as deep (but deep enough for mainstream music, unless you listen to organ), but perfectly matches bookshelf speakers and two Speedwoofers would ensure you have balanced bass throughout your listening position.
It would be nice to have a video talking about some nearfield options under 1000€, to use as desktop speaker!
I remember you quoted the PSB Alpha P5 as good desktop speaker, but it would be cool to have some other options.
He pretty much said hands down the PSB Alpha P5 or P3 are the exact speaker for your use case. There is a video for those as well.
Very helpful for narrowing down which one is right for my ears. Thank you.
Your favorite Jay. That's what we want to know. 😬😉🙄
Mmmmm.... Thats a hard one for me cuz they are all different. I cannot find 100% my type of sound in this price range yet.
which one comes closest to your personal preferences, for me the Triangle for sure
Only subjective bla-bla-talks.
