Watched the whole series on web maps. Thank you very much for the detailed walkthrough. Also, your responses to some of the comments were beneficial to clear some of the doubts that emerged. Will be implementing this shortly. Thank you once again. Waiting for the next video.
Hi Doug, thanks for the question. This sounds like a limit from your webhost. What is the limit for for file uploads and is it feasible to change host?
Really good series. Very intuitive and funny... no ice left to break. Just a quick question: isn't there a way to add elements to the webmap, such as scale bar, text label, north arrow, etc.? Also, do you have experience (this is probably a silly question) with the use of web service layers and hosting those in your webmaps? Regards and best wishes
Hi Evanilton, thanks for watching. Yes you can add elements to the map. It depends how you're using QGIS2Web but with leaflet you can add all sorts. Check the leaflet documentation. For WMS have you tried just connecting in your Q map and then running the plugin? Let me know how you get on!
Nice video! Not sure if it's easy, but maybe include in future videos how to incorporate a map in WordPress or Wix. Guess it's just adding the html code to a designated block on your website and make sure you upload all the files (?)...
Hi Ueki, thanks for watching and check out the playlist for how to build this from scratch. If you're stuck just let me know. ua-cam.com/video/Kdrb5MOqLP4/v-deo.html
Olá. Quando estou fazendo upload das pastas, aparece a mensagem "upload failed 404", não sei o que fazer, a página não aparece o mapa, apesar de aparecer a mãozinha de movimentar a página
Thank you very much, this worked perfectly. I'm only running into one issue: When I click "show me where I am" in the webmap I get an error message: "Geolocation error: Only secure origins are allowed". I some variation of this error message whether I try in google chrome, safari, or firefox. Any recommendations? I was hoping to see my location relative to the points in the webmap. Thank you!
@@burdGIS Thanks for getting back to me. It's http. Is there a way to make it https when you create your new account in InfinityFree? Sorry, not very knowledgeable about this stuff.
I'm really not sure. It might be worth searching for a hosting provider with free https if InfityFree don't offer it. You can get free certificates to set up https now using LetsEncrypt but it requires some set up.
I made the QGIS map, made the web map with QGIS2Web and it looked good. When I uploaded it to InfinityFree, I can only see the Tools on the left side, and the collapsed layers icon top right side. The rest of the map is a white page, blank. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this and see all the map data? Thanks.
is there a way to update the files automatically? for example if I change the attribute table in my qgis project? thank you in advance, it has already helped me a lot!
Hi Tiago, you'd need to have your data in a database (like PostgreSQL with PostGIS) for that to work. I'm not sure how QGIS2Web deals with DB connections but it would be interesting to look into.
And, as the author of the plugin states in this Stack Exchange answer, you'd probably need geoserver too ;) gis.stackexchange.com/questions/300208/qgis2web-and-keep-the-data-in-database
I have a problem, my photos size is too big, I wanna give them a fixed size. How can I do it, if you can help me i will be so happy. thanks for the video,it was so helpful
Thanks Aslican. You could resize the images on disk. It might also be possible to set a field in the attribute table as max height or max width. I found a tool for Windows machines that allows you to resize images very quickly. www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/resize-image/9p87m9tknkvl
Great video and very useful, it certainly helped me. I was wondering how to add a legend and allow users to add/remove layers on the web map and if there was a tutorial for this anywhere?
im trying to host my web map that i created on Qgis but when i upload the CSS folder it transfers 25/29 files and it says "the upload failed:404/ Not found" how can i fix that?🥺
@@burdGIS The second day. I have the website . It was actually at the point of uploading the folder to the website that the error came up. the error is : The Upload Failed: Session key not set
Very informative. Thank you! I'd appreciate a video about managing and updating efficiently this kind of maps. Should export all files again and put them on my website? Or there is any other way round?
Thanks for the question Wojciech. Yes, reuploading will work. If you have data that needs updating frequently it is probably better to use a datatbase. I haven't looked at this plugin's capabilities beyond simple static maps.
@@burdGIS No. I'm on Mac. I double click index.html and the map opens perfectly in both Safari and Chrome. When I upload to InfinityFree, go to my website, it's blank.
Thanks for the further info Dan. That sounds like a problem with the upload to InfinityFree rather than QGIS2Web. If it shows correctly on the localhost then it's possible for it to work on a remote host. I believe sometimes sites can take a few hours to work on InfinityFree. Have you inspected the page using development tools in your browser or tried another hosting platform?
Hi, thank you very much for the tutorial. I have a problem at the end, When I open the .html I can't see the image, neither the one with the georeference and the one that I add later like you did in the video. I see the square and the sorgent of the file but the image Is all white. Can you help me out? Appreciate your work man!
Hi Davide. It sounds like the web app is having difficulty find the image. Try opening up the browser tools (web developer) and seeing what address is being used for the images.

When using Google Chrome I get a security message saying this is a 'dangerous' site - I guess this is because it is an http site rather than https.
